Book of Proverbs, Chapter 29
Chapter 29 of Proverbs
will suddenly be broken beyond healing.
but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
but one who keeps company with harlots squanders his substance.
but one who exacts gifts ruins it.
spreads a net for his feet.
but a righteous man sings and rejoices.
a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.
but wise men turn away wrath.
the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.
and the wicked[a] seek his life.
but a wise man quietly holds it back.
all his officials will be wicked.
the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
his throne will be established for ever.
but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
but the righteous will look upon their downfall.
he will give delight to your heart.
but blessed is he who keeps the law.
for though he understands, he will not give heed.
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
will in the end find him his heir.[b]
and a man given to anger causes much transgression.
but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.
but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
but from the LORD a man gets justice.
but he whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.FOOTNOTES
