Book of Psalms, No. 94
Psalms 94 NWT - New World Translation No. 94 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ [a] O God[b] of acts of vengeance, Jehovah,1
O God of acts of vengeance, beam forth!2 - ¶ Raise yourself up, O Judge of the earth.3
Bring back a retribution upon the haughty ones.4 - ¶ How long are the wicked, O Jehovah,5
How long are the wicked themselves going to exult?6 - ¶ They keep bubbling forth, they keep speaking unrestrained;7
All the practicers of what is hurtful keep bragging about themselves.8 - ¶ Your people, O Jehovah, they keep crushing,9
And your inheritance they keep afflicting.10 - ¶ The widow and the alien resident they kill,11
And the fatherless boys they murder.12 - ¶ And they keep saying: “Jah[c] does not see;13
And the God[d] of Jacob does not understand [it].”14 - ¶ Understand, YOU who are unreasoning among the people;15
And as for YOU stupid ones, when will YOU have any insight?16 - ¶ The One planting the ear, can he not hear?17
Or the One forming the eye, can he not look?18 - ¶ The One correcting the nations, can he not reprove,19
Even the One teaching men knowledge?20 - ¶ Jehovah is knowing the thoughts of men,[e] that they are as an exhalation.21
- ¶ Happy is the able-bodied man[f] whom you correct,22 O Jah,
And whom you teach out of your own law,23 - ¶ To give him quietness from days of calamity,24
Until for the wicked one a pit is excavated.25 - ¶ For Jehovah will not forsake his people,26
Nor will he leave his own inheritance.27 - ¶ For judicial decision will return even to righteousness,28
And all the upright in heart will follow it. - ¶ Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?29
Who will take his stand for me against the practicers of hurtfulness?30 - ¶ Unless Jehovah had been of assistance to me,31
In a little while my soul would have resided in silence.32 - ¶ When I said: “My foot will certainly move unsteadily,”33
Your own loving-kindness, O Jehovah, kept sustaining me.34 - ¶ When my disquieting thoughts became many inside of me,35
Your own consolations began to fondle my soul.36 - ¶ Will the throne causing adversities be allied with you37
While it is framing trouble by decree?38 - ¶ They make sharp attacks on the soul of the righteous one39
And pronounce wicked even the blood of the innocent one.40 - ¶ But Jehovah will become a secure height for me,41
And my God the rock of my refuge.42 - ¶ And he will turn back upon them their hurtfulness43
And will silence them with their own calamity.44
Jehovah our God will silence them.45
