Book of Psalms, No. 81
Psalms 81 NWT - New World Translation No. 81 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ O cry out joyfully, YOU people, to God our strength;1
Shout in triumph to the God of Jacob.2 - ¶ Strike up a melody3 and take a tambourine,4
The pleasant harp together with the stringed instrument.5 - ¶ On the new moon, BLOW the horn;[a]6
On the full moon, for the day of our festival.7 - ¶ For it is a regulation for Israel,8
A judicial decision of the God[b] of Jacob. - ¶ As a reminder he laid it upon Joseph himself,9
When he was going forth over the land of Egypt.10
A language[c] that I did not know I kept hearing.11 - ¶ “I[d] turned aside his shoulder even from [the] burden;12
His own hands got to be free even from the basket.13 - ¶ In distress you called, and I proceeded to rescue you;14
I began to answer you in the concealed place of thunder.15
I went examining you at the waters of Merʹi·bah.16 Seʹlah. - ¶ Hear, O my people, and I will bear witness against you,17
O Israel, if you will listen to me.18 - ¶ Among you there will prove to be no strange god;[e]19
And you will not bow down to a foreign god.20 - ¶ I, Jehovah, am your God,[f]21
The One bringing you up out of the land of Egypt.22
Open your mouth wide, and I shall fill it.23 - ¶ But my people has not listened to my voice;24
And Israel itself has not showed any willingness toward me.25 - ¶ And so I let them go[g] in the stubbornness of their heart;26
They went walking in their own counsels.27 - ¶ O that my people were listening to me,28
O that Israel itself would walk in my very ways!29 - ¶ Their enemies I would easily subdue,30
And against their adversaries I would turn my hand.31 - ¶ As for those intensely hating Jehovah, they will come cringing to him,32
And their time will prove to be to time indefinite. - ¶ And he will keep feeding him off the fat of the wheat,33
And out of the rock I shall satisfy you with honey34 itself.”
