No. 78 of the PsalmsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Do give ear, O my people, to my law;1
Incline YOUR ear to the sayings of my mouth.2
  2. ¶ In a proverbial saying I will open my mouth;3
I will cause riddles of long ago to bubble forth,4
  3. ¶ Which we have heard and know,5
And which our own fathers have related to us;6
  4. ¶ Which we do not hide from their sons,7
Relating [them] even to the generation to come,8
¶ The praises of Jehovah and his strength9
And his wonderful things that he has done.10
  5. ¶ And he proceeded to raise up a reminder in Jacob,11
And a law he set in Israel,12
¶ Things that he commanded our forefathers,13
To make them known to their sons;14
  6. ¶ In order that the generation to come, the sons that were to be born, might know [them],15
That they might rise up and relate [them] to their sons,16
  7. ¶ And that they might set their confidence in God[a] himself17
And not forget the practices of God[b]18 but observe his own commandments.19
  8. ¶ And they should not become like their forefathers,20
      A generation stubborn and rebellious,21
¶ A generation who had not prepared their heart22
And whose spirit was not trustworthy with God.[c]23
  9. ¶ The sons of Eʹphra·im, though armed shooters of the bow,24
Retreated in the day of fight.25
  10. ¶ They did not keep the covenant of God,[d]26
And in his law they refused to walk.27
  11. ¶ They also began to forget his dealings28
And his wonderful works that he caused them to see.29
  12. ¶ In front of their forefathers he had done marvelously30
In the land of Egypt,31 the field of Zoʹan.32
  13. ¶ He split the sea, that he might let them pass over,33
And he caused the waters to stand like a dam.34
  14. ¶ And he continued to lead them with a cloud by day35
And the whole night with a light of fire.36
  15. ¶ He proceeded to split rocks in the wilderness,37
That he might cause [them] to drink an abundance just like watery deeps.[e]38
  16. ¶ And he went bringing forth streams out of a crag39
And causing waters to descend just like rivers.40
  17. ¶ And they kept sinning still more against him41
By rebelling against the Most High in the waterless region;42
  18. ¶ And they proceeded to test God[f] in their heart43
By asking for something to eat for their soul.44
  19. ¶ So they began to speak against God.[g]45
They said: “Is God able to arrange a table in the wilderness?”46
  20. ¶ Look! He struck a rock47
That waters might flow and torrents themselves might flood forth.48
¶ “Is he able also to give bread itself,49
Or can he prepare sustenance for his people?”50
  21. ¶ That was why Jehovah heard and began to be furious;51
And fire itself was kindled against Jacob,52
And anger also ascended against Israel.53
  22. ¶ For they did not put faith in God,54
And they did not trust in salvation by him.55
  23. ¶ And he proceeded to command the cloudy skies above,
And he opened the very doors of heaven.56
  24. ¶ And he kept raining upon them manna to eat,57
And the grain of heaven he gave to them.58
  25. ¶ Men[h] ate the very bread of powerful ones;[i]59
Provisions he sent them to satisfaction.60
  26. ¶ He began making an east wind burst forth in the heavens61
And making a south wind blow by his own strength.62
  27. ¶ And he proceeded to make sustenance rain upon them just like dust,63
Even winged flying creatures just like the sand grains of the seas.64
  28. ¶ And he kept making [them] fall in the middle of his camp,65
      All around his tabernacles.66
  29. ¶ And they went eating and satisfying themselves very much,67
And what they desired he proceeded to bring to them.68
  30. ¶ They had not turned aside from their desire,
While their food was yet in their mouth,69
  31. ¶ When God’s wrath itself ascended against them.70
And he went killing among their stout ones;71
And the young men of Israel he made collapse.
  32. ¶ Despite all this they sinned some more72
And did not put faith in his wonderful works.73
  33. ¶ So he brought their days to an end as if a mere exhalation,74
And their years by the disturbance.
  34. ¶ As often as he killed them, they also inquired for him,75
And they returned and looked for God.[j]76
  35. ¶ And they began to remember that God[k] was their Rock,77
And that God the Most High was their Avenger.78
  36. ¶ And they tried to fool him with their mouth;79
And with their tongue they tried to lie to him.80
  37. ¶ And their heart was not steadfast with him;81
And they did not prove faithful in his covenant.82
  38. ¶ But he was merciful;83 he would cover the error84 and not bring ruin.85
And many times he made his anger turn back,86
And he would not rouse up all his rage.
  39. ¶ And he kept remembering that they were flesh,87
That the spirit[l] is going forth and does not come back.88
  40. ¶ How often they would rebel against him in the wilderness,89
They would make him feel hurt in the desert!90
  41. ¶ And again and again they would put God[m] to the test,91
And they pained even the Holy One of Israel.92
  42. ¶ They did not remember his hand,93
The day that he redeemed them from the adversary,94
  43. ¶ How he put his signs in Egypt itself95
And his miracles in the field of Zoʹan;96
  44. ¶ And how he began changing to blood their Nile canals,97
So that they could not drink from their own streams.98
  45. ¶ He proceeded to send upon them gadflies, that these might eat them up;99
And frogs, that these might bring them to ruin.100
  46. ¶ And he began to give to the cockroaches their yield,
And their toil to the locusts.101
  47. ¶ He went killing their vine even by the hail102
And their sycamore trees by hailstones.103
  48. ¶ And he proceeded to hand over their beasts of burden even to the hail104
And their livestock to the flaming fever.
  49. ¶ He went sending upon them his burning anger,105
      Fury and denunciation and distress,106
      Deputations of angels bringing calamity.107
  50. ¶ He proceeded to prepare a pathway for his anger.108
      He did not hold back their soul from death itself;
And their life he handed over even to the pestilence.[n]109
  51. ¶ Finally he struck down all the firstborn in Egypt,110
The beginning of their generative power[o] in the tents of Ham.111
  52. ¶ Afterward he caused his people to depart just like a flock,112
And conducted them like a drove in the wilderness.113
  53. ¶ And he kept leading them in security, and they felt no dread;114
And the sea covered their enemies themselves.115
  54. ¶ And he proceeded to bring them to his holy territory,116
This mountainous region that his right hand acquired.117
  55. ¶ And because of them he gradually drove out the nations,118
And by the measuring line he went allotting them an inheritance,119
So that he caused the tribes of Israel to reside in their own homes.[p]120
  56. ¶ And they began to test and rebel against God the Most High,121
And his reminders they did not keep.122
  57. ¶ They also kept turning back and acting treacherously like their forefathers;123
They turned around like a loose bow.124
  58. ¶ And they kept offending him with their high places,125
And with their graven images they kept inciting him to jealousy.126
  59. ¶ God heard127 and got to be furious,128
And so he contemned Israel very much.129
  60. ¶ And he finally forsook the tabernacle of Shiʹloh,130
The tent in which he resided among earthling men.131
  61. ¶ And he proceeded to give his strength even to captivity132
And his beauty into the hand of the adversary.133
  62. ¶ And he kept handing over his people to the sword itself,134
And against his inheritance he became furious.135
  63. ¶ His young men a fire ate up,
And his virgins were not praised.[q]136
  64. ¶ As for his priests, they fell by the very sword,137
And their[r] own widows did not give way to weeping.138
  65. ¶ Then Jehovah[s] began to awake as from sleeping,139
Like a mighty one sobering up from wine.140
  66. ¶ And he went striking down his adversaries from behind;141
A reproach of indefinite duration he gave to them.142
  67. ¶ And he proceeded to reject the tent of Joseph;143
And the tribe of Eʹphra·im he did not choose.144
  68. ¶ But he chose the tribe of Judah,145
      Mount Zion, which he loved.146
  69. ¶ And he began to build his sanctuary just like the heights,147
Like the earth that he has founded to time indefinite.148
  70. ¶ And so he chose David his servant149
And took him from the pens of the flock.150
  71. ¶ From following the females giving suck151
He brought him in to be a shepherd over Jacob his people152
      And over Israel his inheritance.153
  72. ¶ And he began to shepherd them according to the integrity of his heart,154
And with the skillfulness of his hands he began leading them.155

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
