Book of Psalms, No. 7
Psalms 7 NWT - New World Translation No. 7 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ O Jehovah my God,1 in you I have taken refuge.2
Save me from all those persecuting me and deliver me,3 - ¶ That no one may tear my soul[a] to pieces as a lion does,4
Snatching [me] away when there is no deliverer.5 - ¶ O Jehovah my God, if I have done this,6
If there exists any injustice in my hands,7 - ¶ If I have repaid the one rewarding me with what is bad,8
Or [if] I have despoiled anyone showing hostility to me without success,9 - ¶ Let an enemy pursue my soul10
And let him overtake and trample my life down to the very earth
And cause my own glory to reside in the dust itself. Seʹlah. - ¶ Do arise, O Jehovah, in your anger;11
Lift yourself up at the outbursts of fury of those showing hostility to me,12
And do awake for me,[b]13 [since] you have given command for judgment itself.14 - ¶ And let the very assembly of national groups[c] surround you,
And against it do you return on high. - ¶ Jehovah himself will pass sentence on the peoples.15
Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness16
And according to my integrity17 in me. - ¶ Please, may the badness of wicked ones come to an end,18
And may you establish the righteous one;19
And God as righteous[d]20 is testing out heart21 and kidneys.[e]22 - ¶ The shield for me is upon God,23 a Savior of those upright in heart.24
- ¶ God[f] is a righteous Judge,25
And God[g] is hurling denunciations[h] every day. - ¶ If anyone will not return,26 His sword he will sharpen,27
His bow he will certainly bend,[i] and he will make it ready [for shooting].28 - ¶ And for himself he must prepare the instruments of death;29
His arrows he will make flaming ones.30 - ¶ Look! There is one that is pregnant with what is hurtful,31
And he has conceived trouble and is bound to give birth to falsehood.32 - ¶ A pit he has excavated, and he proceeded to dig it;33
But he will fall into the hole [that] he went making.34 - ¶ His trouble will return upon his own head,35
And upon the crown of his head his own violence will descend.36 - ¶ I shall laud Jehovah according to his righteousness,37
And I will make melody to the name38 of Jehovah the Most High.39
