Book of Psalms, No. 37
Psalms 37 NWT - New World Translation No. 37 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ Do not show yourself heated up because of the evildoers.1
Do not be envious of those doing unrighteousness.2 - ¶ For like grass they will speedily wither,3
And like green new grass they will fade away.4 - ¶ Trust in Jehovah and do good;5
Reside in the earth, and deal with faithfulness.6 - ¶ Also take exquisite delight in Jehovah,7
And he will give you the requests of your heart.8 - ¶ Roll upon Jehovah your way,9
And rely upon him,10 and he himself will act.11 - ¶ And he will certainly bring forth your righteousness as the light itself,12
And your justice as the midday.13 - ¶ Keep silent before Jehovah14
And wait longingly for him.15
¶ Do not show yourself heated up at anyone making his way successful,16
At the man carrying out [his] ideas.17 - ¶ Let anger alone and leave rage;18
Do not show yourself heated up only to do evil.19 - ¶ For evildoers themselves will be cut off,20
But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.21 - ¶ And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;22
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.23 - ¶ But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,24
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.25 - ¶ The wicked one is plotting against the righteous one,26
And at him he is grinding his teeth.27 - ¶ Jehovah[a] himself will laugh at him,28
For he certainly sees that his day will come.29 - ¶ The wicked ones have drawn a sword itself and have bent their bow,30
To cause the afflicted and poor one to fall,31
To slaughter those who are upright in [their] way.32 - ¶ Their own sword will enter into their heart,33
And their own bows will be broken.34 - ¶ Better is the little of the righteous one35
Than the abundance of the many wicked ones.36 - ¶ For the very arms of the wicked ones will be broken,37
But Jehovah will be supporting the righteous ones.38 - ¶ Jehovah is aware of the days of the faultless ones,39
And their very inheritance will continue even to time indefinite.40 - ¶ They will not be ashamed in the time of calamity,41
And in the days of famine they will be satisfied.42 - ¶ For the wicked themselves will perish,43
And the enemies of Jehovah will be like the preciousness of pastures;
They must come to their end.44 In smoke they must come to their end.45 - ¶ The wicked one is borrowing and does not pay back,46
But the righteous one is showing favor and is making gifts.47 - ¶ For those being blessed by him will themselves possess the earth,48
But those upon whom evil is called by him will be cut off.49 - ¶ By Jehovah the very steps of an able-bodied man have been made ready,50
And in his way He takes delight.51 - ¶ Although he may fall, he will not be hurled down,52
For Jehovah is supporting his hand.53 - ¶ A young man I used to be, I have also grown old,54
And yet I have not seen anyone righteous left entirely,55
Nor his offspring[b] looking for bread.56 - ¶ All day long he is showing favor and lending,57
And so his offspring are in line for a blessing.58 - ¶ Turn away from what is bad and do what is good,59
And so reside to time indefinite.60 - ¶ For Jehovah is a lover of justice,61
And he will not leave his loyal ones.62
¶ To[c] time indefinite they will certainly be guarded;63
But as for the offspring of the wicked ones, they will indeed be cut off.64 - ¶ The righteous themselves will possess the earth,65
And they will reside forever upon it.66 - ¶ The mouth of the righteous is the one that utters wisdom in an undertone,67
And his is the tongue that speaks justly.68 - ¶ The law of his God is in his heart;69
His steps will not wobble.70 - ¶ The wicked one is keeping on the watch for the righteous71
And is seeking to put him to death.72 - ¶ As for Jehovah, he will not leave him to the hand of that one,73
And he will not pronounce him wicked when he is being judged.74 - ¶ Hope in Jehovah and keep his way,75
And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth.76
When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].77 - ¶ I have seen the wicked a tyrant78
And spreading himself[d] as a luxuriant [tree] in native soil.79 - ¶ And yet he proceeded to pass away,[e] and there he was not;80
And I kept seeking him, and he was not found.81 - ¶ Watch the blameless one and keep the upright one in sight,82
For the future of [that] man will be peaceful.83 - ¶ But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together;84
The future of wicked people will indeed be cut off.85 - ¶ And[f] the salvation of the righteous ones is from Jehovah;86
He is their fortress in the time of distress.87 - ¶ And Jehovah will help them and provide them with escape.88
He will provide them with escape from wicked people and save them,89
Because they have taken refuge in him.90
