Book of Psalms, No. 144
Psalms 144 NWT - New World Translation No. 144 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ Blessed be Jehovah my Rock,1
Who is teaching my hands for fighting,2
My fingers for warfare; - ¶ My loving-kindness and my stronghold,3
My secure height and my Provider of escape for me,4
¶ My shield5 and the One in whom I have taken refuge,6
The One subduing peoples[a] under me.7 - ¶ O Jehovah, what is man[b] that you should notice him,8
The son of mortal man[c]9 that you should take account of him? - ¶ Man himself bears resemblance to a mere exhalation;10
His days are like a passing shadow.11 - ¶ O Jehovah, bend down your heavens that you may descend;12
Touch the mountains that they may smoke.13 - ¶ Lighten with lightning that you may scatter them;14
Send out your arrows that you may throw them into confusion.15 - ¶ Thrust your hands out from the height;16
Set me free and deliver me from the many waters,17
From the hand of the foreigners,[d]18 - ¶ Whose mouth has spoken what is untrue19
And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.20 - ¶ O God, a new song I will sing to you.21
On an instrument of ten strings I will make melody to you,22 - ¶ The One giving salvation to kings,23
The One setting David his servant free from the injurious sword.24 - ¶ Set me free and deliver me from the hand of the foreigners,25
Whose mouth has spoken what is untrue26
And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood,27 - ¶ Who [say]: “Our sons are like little plants grown up in their youth,28
Our daughters like corners carved in palace style, - ¶ Our garners full, furnishing products of one sort after another,[e]29
Our flocks multiplying by thousands, ten thousand to one, in our streets, - ¶ Our cattle loaded down, without any rupture and with no abortion,30
And with no outcry in our public squares.31 - ¶ Happy is the people for whom it is just like [that]!”
Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!32
