Book of Psalms, No. 143
No. 143 of the Psalms
Do give ear to my entreaty.2
In your faithfulness answer me in your righteousness.3
For before you no one alive can be righteous.5
He has crushed my life to the very earth.7
He has caused me to dwell in dark places like those dead for time indefinite.8
In the midst of me my heart shows itself numbed.10
I have meditated on all your activity;12
I willingly kept myself concerned with the work of your own hands.13
My soul is like an exhausted land to you.15 Seʹlah.[a]
My spirit has come to an end.17
¶ Do not conceal your face from me,18
Or else I must become comparable with those going down into the pit.19
For in you I have put my trust.21
¶ Make known to me the way in which I should walk,22
For to you I have lifted up my soul.23
I have taken cover[c] even with you.25
For you are my God.27
¶ Your spirit is good;28
May it lead me in the land of uprightness.29
In your righteousness32 may you bring forth my soul out of distress.33
And you must destroy all those showing hostility to my soul,35
For I am your servant.36FOOTNOTES
