No. 119 of the PsalmsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. [a] Happy are the ones faultless in [their] way,1
The ones walking in the law of Jehovah.2
  2. ¶ Happy are those observing his reminders;3
With all the heart they keep searching for him.4
  3. ¶ Really they have practiced no unrighteousness.5
In his ways they have walked.6
  4. ¶ You yourself have commandingly given your orders7
      To be carefully kept.8
  5. ¶ O that my ways were firmly established9
      To keep your regulations!10
  6. ¶ In that case I should not be ashamed,11
When I look to all your commandments.12
  7. ¶ I shall laud you in uprightness of heart,13
When I learn your righteous judicial decisions.14
  8. ¶ Your regulations I continue to keep.15
O do not leave me entirely.16
  9. ¶ How will a young man17 cleanse his path?
By keeping on guard according to your word.[b]18
  10. ¶ With my whole heart I have searched for you.19
Do not cause me to go astray from your commandments.20
  11. ¶ In my heart I have treasured up[c] your saying,21
In order that I may not sin against you.22
  12. ¶ Blessed you are, O Jehovah.
      Teach me your regulations.23
  13. ¶ With my lips I have declared24
All the judicial decisions of your mouth.25
  14. ¶ In the way of your reminders I have exulted,26
Just as over all other valuable things.[d]27
  15. ¶ With your orders I will concern myself,28
And I will look to your paths.29
  16. ¶ For your statutes I shall show a fondness.30
I shall not forget your word.31
  17. ¶ Act appropriately toward your servant, that I may live32
And that I may keep your word.33
  18. ¶ Uncover my eyes, that I may look34
At the wonderful things out of your law.35
  19. ¶ I am but an alien resident in the land.36
Do not conceal from me your commandments.37
  20. ¶ My soul is crushed with longing38
For your judicial decisions all the time.39
  21. ¶ You have rebuked the cursed presumptuous ones,40
Who are straying from your commandments.41
  22. ¶ Roll off me reproach and contempt,42
For I have observed your own reminders.43
  23. ¶ Even princes have sat; against me they have spoken with one another.44
As for your servant, he concerns himself with your regulations.45
  24. ¶ Also, your reminders are what I am fond of,46
      As men of my counsel.47
  25. ¶ My soul has been cleaving to the very dust.48
Preserve me alive[e] according to your word.49
  26. ¶ I have declared my own ways, that you may answer me.50
      Teach me your regulations.51
  27. ¶ Make me understand the way of your own orders,52
That I may concern myself with your wonderful works.53
  28. ¶ My soul has been sleepless from grief.54
Raise me up according to your word.55
  29. ¶ Remove from me even the false way,56
And favor me with your own law.57
  30. ¶ The way of faithfulness I have chosen.58
Your judicial decisions I have considered appropriate.59
  31. ¶ I have cleaved to your reminders.60
O Jehovah, do not put me to shame.61
  32. ¶ I shall run the very way of your commandments,62
Because you make my heart have the room.[f]63
  33. ¶ Instruct me, O Jehovah, in the way of your regulations,64
That I may observe it down to the last.65
  34. ¶ Make me understand, that I may observe your law66
And that I may keep it with the whole heart.67
  35. ¶ Cause me to tread in the pathway of your commandments,68
For in it I have taken delight.69
  36. ¶ Incline my heart to your reminders,70
      And not to profits.[g]71
  37. ¶ Make my eyes pass on from seeing what is worthless;72
Preserve me alive in your own way.73
  38. ¶ Carry out to your servant your saying74
That [tends] to the fear of you.75
  39. ¶ Make my reproach pass away, of which I have been scared,76
For your judicial decisions are good.77
  40. ¶ Look! I have longed for your orders.78
In your righteousness preserve me alive.79
  41. ¶ And may your loving-kindnesses[h] come to me, O Jehovah,80
Your salvation according to your saying,81
  42. ¶ That I may answer the one reproaching me with a word,82
For I have trusted in your word.83
  43. ¶ And do not take away from my mouth the word of truth entirely,84
For I have waited for your own judicial decision.85
  44. ¶ And I will keep your law constantly,86
      To time indefinite, even forever.87
  45. ¶ And I will walk about in a roomy place,88
For I have searched even for your orders.89
  46. ¶ I will also speak about your reminders in front of kings,90
And I shall not be ashamed.91
  47. ¶ And I shall show a fondness for your commandments92
      That I have loved.93
  48. ¶ And I shall raise my palms to your commandments that I have loved,94
And I will concern myself with your regulations.95
  49. ¶ Remember the word to your servant,96
For which you have made me wait.97
  50. ¶ This is my comfort in my affliction,98
For your own saying has preserved me alive.99
  51. ¶ The presumptuous ones themselves have derided me to the extreme.100
From your law I have not deviated.101
  52. ¶ I have remembered your judicial decisions from time indefinite, O Jehovah,102
And I find comfort for myself.103
  53. ¶ A raging heat itself has taken hold of me because of the wicked,104
      Who are leaving your law.105
  54. ¶ Melodies your regulations have become to me106
In the house of my alien residences.107
  55. ¶ In the night I have remembered your name, O Jehovah,108
That I may keep your law.109
  56. ¶ Even this has become mine,
Because your orders I have observed.110
  57. ¶ Jehovah is my share;111
I have promised to keep your words.112
  58. ¶ I have softened your face with all [my] heart.113
Show me favor according to your saying.114
  59. ¶ I have considered my ways,115
That I may turn back my feet to your reminders.116
  60. ¶ I hurried up, and I did not delay117
      To keep your commandments.118
  61. ¶ The very ropes of the wicked ones surrounded me.119
Your law I did not forget.120
  62. ¶ At midnight I get up to give thanks to you121
      For your righteous judicial decisions.122
  63. ¶ A partner I am of all those who do fear you,123
And of those keeping your orders.124
  64. ¶ Your loving-kindness,[i] O Jehovah, has filled the earth.125
      Teach me your own regulations.126
  65. ¶ You have dealt well indeed with your servant,127
O Jehovah, according to your word.128
  66. ¶ Teach me goodness,129 sensibleness130 and knowledge themselves,131
For in your commandments I have exercised faith.132
  67. ¶ Before I was under affliction I was sinning by mistake,133
But now I have kept your very saying.134
  68. ¶ You are good and are doing good.135
      Teach me your regulations.136
  69. ¶ The presumptuous have smeared me with falsehood.137
As for me, with all [my] heart I shall observe your orders.138
  70. ¶ Their heart has become unfeeling just like fat.139
I, for my part, have been fond of your own law.140
  71. ¶ It is good for me that I have been afflicted,141
In order that I may learn your regulations.142
  72. ¶ The law143 of your mouth is good for me,144
More so than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.145
  73. ¶ Your own hands have made me, and they proceeded to fix me solidly.146
Make me understand, that I may learn your commandments.147
  74. ¶ Those fearing you are the ones that see me and rejoice,148
For I have waited for your own word.149
  75. ¶ I well know, O Jehovah, that your judicial decisions are righteousness150
And that with faithfulness you have afflicted me.151
  76. ¶ May your loving-kindness serve, please, to comfort me,152
According to your saying to your servant.153
  77. ¶ Let your mercies come to me, that I may keep living;154
For your law is what I am fond of.155
  78. ¶ Let the presumptuous ones be ashamed, for without cause[j] they have misled me.156
As for me, I concern myself with your orders.157
  79. ¶ Let those fearing you turn back to me,158
      Those also knowing your reminders.[k]159
  80. ¶ Let my heart prove faultless in your regulations,160
In order that I may not be ashamed.161
  81. ¶ For your salvation my soul has pined away;162
For your word I have waited.163
  82. ¶ My eyes have pined away for your saying,164
While I say: “When will you comfort me?”165
  83. ¶ For I have become like a skin bottle166 in the smoke.
Your regulations I have not forgotten.167
  84. ¶ How many are the days of your servant?168
When will you execute judgment against those persecuting me?169
  85. ¶ The presumptuous have excavated pitfalls to get me,170
Those who are not in accord with your law.171
  86. ¶ All your commandments are faithfulness itself.172
Without cause they have persecuted me. O help me.173
  87. ¶ In a little while they would have exterminated me in the earth;174
But I myself did not leave your orders.175
  88. ¶ According to your loving-kindness preserve me alive,176
That I may keep the reminder of your mouth.177
  89. ¶ To time indefinite, O Jehovah,178
Your word is stationed in the heavens.[l]179
  90. ¶ Your faithfulness is for generation after generation.[m]180
You have solidly fixed the earth, that it may keep standing.181
  91. ¶ According to your judicial decisions they have stood [till] today,182
For they are all your servants.183
  92. ¶ If your law had not been what I am fond of,184
Then I should have perished in my affliction.185
  93. ¶ To time indefinite I shall not forget your orders,186
Because by them you have preserved me alive.187
  94. ¶ I am yours. O save me,188
Because I have searched for your own orders.189
  95. ¶ For me the wicked have waited, to destroy me.190
To your reminders I keep showing myself attentive.191
  96. ¶ To all perfection I have seen an end.192
      Your commandment is very broad.
  97. ¶ How I do love your law!193
All day long it is my concern.194
  98. ¶ Wiser than my enemies your commandment makes me,[n]195
Because to time indefinite it is mine.196
  99. ¶ More insight than all my teachers I have come to have,197
Because your reminders are a concern to me.198
  100. ¶ With more understanding than older men I behave,199
Because I have observed your own orders.200
  101. ¶ From every bad path I have restrained my feet,201
For the purpose that I may keep your word.202
  102. ¶ From your judicial decisions I have not turned aside,203
For you yourself have instructed me.204
  103. ¶ How smooth to my palate your sayings[o] have been,
More so than honey to my mouth!205
  104. ¶ Owing to your orders I behave with understanding.206
That is why I have hated every false path.207
  105. ¶ Your word is a lamp to my foot,[p]208
And a light to my roadway.209
  106. ¶ I have made a sworn statement, and I will carry it out,210
To keep your righteous judicial decisions.211
  107. ¶ I have been afflicted to a great extent.212
O Jehovah, preserve me alive according to your word.213
  108. ¶ Please take pleasure in the voluntary offerings of my mouth, O Jehovah,214
And teach me your own judicial decisions.215
  109. ¶ My soul is in my palm constantly;216
But your law I have not forgotten.217
  110. ¶ The wicked have set a trap for me,218
But from your orders I have not wandered.219
  111. ¶ I have taken your reminders as a possession to time indefinite,220
For they are the exultation of my heart.221
  112. ¶ I have inclined my heart to do your regulations222
To time indefinite, down to the last.223
  113. ¶ The halfhearted ones I have hated,224
But your law I have loved.225
  114. ¶ You are my place of concealment and my shield.226
For your word I have waited.227
  115. ¶ Get away from me, YOU evildoers,228
That I may observe the commandments of my God.229
  116. ¶ Support me according to your saying, that I may keep living,230
And do not put me to shame for my hope.231
  117. ¶ Sustain me, that I may be saved,232
And I shall gaze upon your regulations constantly.233
  118. ¶ You have tossed away all those straying from your regulations;234
      For their trickiness is falsehood.235
  119. ¶ As scummy dross you have made all the wicked ones of the earth to cease.236
Therefore I have loved your reminders.237
  120. ¶ From the dread of you my flesh has had a creepy feeling;238
And because of your judicial decisions I have been afraid.239
  121. ¶ I have executed judgment[q] and righteousness.240
O do not abandon me to those defrauding me!241
  122. ¶ Act as a surety for your servant for what is good.242
May the presumptuous ones not defraud me.243
  123. ¶ My very eyes have pined away for your salvation244
      And for your righteous saying.245
  124. ¶ Do with your servant according to your loving-kindness,246
And teach me your own regulations.247
  125. ¶ I am your servant.248 Make me understand,249
That I may know your reminders.250
  126. ¶ It is the time for Jehovah to act.251
      They have broken your law.252
  127. ¶ That is why I have loved your commandments253
More than gold, even refined gold.254
  128. ¶ That is why I have considered all orders regarding all things to be right;255
Every false path I have hated.256
  129. ¶ Your reminders are wonderful.257
That is why my soul has observed them.258
  130. ¶ The very disclosure of your words gives light,259
      Making the inexperienced ones understand.260
  131. ¶ My mouth I have opened wide, that I may pant,261
Because for your commandments I have longed.262
  132. ¶ Turn to me and show me favor,263
According to [your] judicial decision[r] toward those loving your name.264
  133. ¶ Fix my own steps solidly in your saying,265
And may no kind of hurtful thing domineer over me.266
  134. ¶ Redeem me from any defrauder of mankind,[s]267
And I will keep your orders.268
  135. ¶ Make your own face shine upon your servant,269
      And teach me your regulations.270
  136. ¶ Streams of water have run down my eyes271
Over the fact that they have not kept your law.272
  137. ¶ You are righteous, O Jehovah,273
And your judicial decisions are upright.274
  138. ¶ You have commanded your reminders275 in righteousness
      And in exceeding faithfulness.276
  139. ¶ My ardor has made an end of me,277
Because my adversaries have forgotten your words.278
  140. ¶ Your saying is very much refined,279
And your own servant loves it.280
  141. ¶ I am insignificant and contemptible.281
Your orders I have not forgotten.282
  142. ¶ Your righteousness is a righteousness to time indefinite,283
      And your law is truth.284
  143. ¶ Distress and difficulty themselves found me.285
Your commandments I was fond of.286
  144. ¶ The righteousness of your reminders is to time indefinite.287
Make me understand, that I may keep living.288
  145. ¶ I have called with [my] whole heart.289 Answer me, O Jehovah.290
      Your regulations I will observe.291
  146. ¶ I have called upon you. O save me!292
And I will keep your reminders.293
  147. ¶ I have been up early in the morning twilight,294 that I may cry for help.295
For your words I have waited.296
  148. ¶ My eyes have been ahead of the night watches,297
[For me] to concern myself with your saying.298
  149. ¶ O do hear my own voice according to your loving-kindness.299
O Jehovah, according to your judicial decision preserve me alive.300
  150. ¶ Those in pursuit of loose conduct[t]301 have come near;[u]
They have got far away from your own law.302
  151. ¶ You are near, O Jehovah,303
And all your commandments are truth.304
  152. ¶ Long ago I have known some of your reminders,305
For to time indefinite you have founded them.306
  153. ¶ O see my affliction, and rescue me;307
For I have not forgotten your own law.308
  154. ¶ O do conduct my legal case and recover me;309
Preserve me alive in agreement with your saying.310
  155. ¶ Salvation is far away from the wicked ones,311
For they have not searched for your own regulations.312
  156. ¶ Many are your mercies, O Jehovah.313
According to your judicial decisions, O preserve me alive.314
  157. ¶ My persecutors and my adversaries are many.315
From your reminders I have not deviated.316
  158. ¶ I have seen those who are treacherous in dealing,317
And I do feel a loathing, because they have not kept your own saying.318
  159. ¶ O see that I have loved your own orders.319
O Jehovah, according to your loving-kindness preserve me alive.320
  160. ¶ The substance[v] of your word is truth,321
And every righteous judicial decision of yours is to time indefinite.322
  161. ¶ Princes themselves have persecuted me for no cause,323
But my heart has been in dread of your own words.324
  162. ¶ I am exulting over your saying325
Just as one does when finding much spoil.326
  163. ¶ Falsehood I have hated,327 and I do keep detesting it.328
      Your law I have loved.329
  164. ¶ Seven times in the day I have praised you330
Because of your righteous judicial decisions.331
  165. ¶ Abundant peace belongs to those loving your law,332
And for them there is no stumbling block.333
  166. ¶ I have hoped for your salvation, O Jehovah,334
And I have done your own commandments.335
  167. ¶ My soul has kept your reminders,336
      And I love them exceedingly.337
  168. ¶ I have kept your orders and your reminders,338
For all my ways are in front of you.339
  169. ¶ May my entreating cry come near before you, O Jehovah.340
According to your word, O make me understand.341
  170. ¶ May my request for favor enter in before you.342
According to your saying, O deliver me.343
  171. ¶ May my lips bubble forth praise,344
For you teach me your regulations.345
  172. ¶ May my tongue sing forth your saying,346
For all your commandments are righteousness.347
  173. ¶ May your hand serve to help me,348
Because your orders I have chosen.349
  174. ¶ I have longed for your salvation, O Jehovah,350
And your law I am fond of.351
  175. ¶ May my soul keep living and praising you,352
And may your own judicial decisions help me.353
  176. ¶ I have wandered like a lost sheep.354 O look for your servant,355
For I have not forgotten your own commandments.[w]356

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
