Psalms 118 NWT - New World Translation No. 118 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ Give thanks to Jehovah, YOU people, for he is good;1
For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.2 - ¶ Let Israel now say:
“For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.”3 - ¶ Let those of the house of Aaron now say:4
“For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.”5 - ¶ Let those fearing Jehovah now say:6
“For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.”7 - ¶ Out of the distressing circumstances I called upon Jah;[a]8
Jah answered [and put] me into a roomy place.[b]9 - ¶ Jehovah is on my side;[c] I shall not fear.10
What can earthling man[d] do to me?11 - ¶ Jehovah is on my side among those helping me,12
So that I myself shall look upon those hating me.13 - ¶ It is better to take refuge in Jehovah14
Than to trust in earthling man.15 - ¶ It is better to take refuge in Jehovah16
Than to trust in nobles.17 - ¶ All the nations themselves surrounded me.18
It was in the name of Jehovah that I kept holding them off.19 - ¶ They surrounded me, yes, they had me surrounded.20
It was in the name of Jehovah that I kept holding them off. - ¶ They surrounded me like bees;21
They were extinguished like a fire of thornbushes.22
It was in the name of Jehovah that I kept holding them off.23 - ¶ You pushed me hard that I should fall,24
But Jehovah himself helped me.25 - ¶ Jah is my shelter and [my] might,[e]26
And to me he becomes salvation.27 - ¶ The voice of a joyful cry and salvation28
Is in the tents29 of the righteous ones.30
The right hand of Jehovah is demonstrating vital energy.31 - ¶ The right hand of Jehovah is exalting [itself];[f]32
The right hand of Jehovah is demonstrating vital energy.33 - ¶ I shall not die, but I shall keep living,34
That I may declare the works of Jah.[g]35 - ¶ Jah corrected me severely,36
But he did not give me over to death itself.37 - ¶ Open to me the gates of righteousness,38 YOU people.
I shall go into them; I shall laud Jah.[h]39 - ¶ This is the gate of Jehovah.40
The righteous themselves will go into it.41 - ¶ I shall laud you, for you answered me42
And you came to be my salvation.43 - ¶ The stone that the builders rejected44
Has become the head of the corner.45 - ¶ This has come to be from Jehovah himself;46
It[i] is wonderful in our eyes.47 - ¶ This is the day that Jehovah has made;[j]48
We will be joyful and rejoice in it.49 - ¶ Ah, now, Jehovah, do save, please!50
Ah, now, Jehovah, do grant success, please!51 - ¶ Blessed be the One coming in the name of Jehovah;52
We have blessed YOU people out of the house of Jehovah.53 - ¶ Jehovah is the Divine One,[k]54
And he gives us light.55
¶ Bind the festival procession56 with boughs,57 O YOU people,
As far as the horns of the altar.58 - ¶ You are my Divine One, and I shall laud you;59
My God[l]—I shall exalt you.60 - ¶ Give thanks to Jehovah, YOU people, for he is good;61
For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.62
