Psalms 107 NWT - New World TranslationNo. 107 of the Psalms—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ O give thanks to Jehovah, YOU people, for he is good;1
For his loving-kindness[a] is to time indefinite.2 - ¶ Let the reclaimed ones of Jehovah say so,3
Whom he has reclaimed from the hand of the adversary,4 - ¶ And whom he has collected together even from the lands,5
From the sunrise and from the sunset,6
From the north and from the south.[b]7 - ¶ They wandered about in the wilderness,8 in the desert;9
They did not find any way to a city of habitation.10 - ¶ They were hungry, also thirsty;11
Their very soul within them began to faint away.12 - ¶ And they kept crying out to Jehovah in their distress;13
Out of the stresses upon them he proceeded to deliver them,14 - ¶ And to have them walk in the right way,15
So as to come to a city of habitation.16 - ¶ O let people give thanks to Jehovah for his loving-kindness17
And for his wonderful works to the sons of men.[c]18 - ¶ For he has satisfied the dried-out soul;19
And the hungry soul he has filled with good things.20 - ¶ There were those dwelling in darkness and deep shadow,21
Prisoners in affliction and irons.22 - ¶ For they had behaved rebelliously23 against the sayings of God;[d]24
And the counsel of the Most High they had disrespected.25 - ¶ So with trouble he proceeded to subdue their heart;26
They stumbled, and there was no one helping.27 - ¶ And they began calling to Jehovah for help in their distress;28
Out of the stresses upon them he as usual saved them.29 - ¶ He went bringing them out from darkness and deep shadow,30
And tearing even their bands apart.31 - ¶ O let people give thanks to Jehovah for his loving-kindness32
And for his wonderful works to the sons of men.33 - ¶ For he has broken the doors of copper,34
And he has cut down even the bars of iron.35 - ¶ Those who were foolish, due to the way of their transgression36
And due to their errors, finally caused themselves affliction.37 - ¶ Their soul got to detest even every sort of food,38
And they were arriving at the gates of death.39 - ¶ And they began calling to Jehovah for help in their distress;40
Out of the stresses upon them he as usual saved them.41 - ¶ He proceeded to send his word and heal them42
And to provide [them] escape out of their pits.[e]43 - ¶ O let people give thanks to Jehovah for his loving-kindness44
And for his wonderful works to the sons of men.[f]45 - ¶ And let them offer[g] the sacrifices of thanksgiving46
And declare his works with a joyful cry.47 - ¶ Those going down to the sea in the ships,48
Doing business on vast[h] waters,49 - ¶ They are the ones that have seen the works of Jehovah50
And his wonderful works in the depths;51 - ¶ How he says [the word] and causes a tempestuous wind[i] to arise,52
So that it lifts up its waves.53 - ¶ They go up to the heavens,
They go down to the bottoms.[j]
Because of the calamity their very soul finds itself melting.54 - ¶ They reel and move unsteadily like a drunken man,55
And even all their wisdom proves confused.56 - ¶ And they begin crying out to Jehovah in their distress,57
And out of the stresses upon them he brings them forth.58 - ¶ He causes the windstorm to stand at a calm,59
So that the waves of the sea[k] keep quiet.60 - ¶ And they rejoice because these become still,
And he leads them to the haven of their delight.61 - ¶ O let people give thanks to Jehovah for his loving-kindness62
And for his wonderful works to the sons of men.[l]63 - ¶ And let them extol him in the congregation[m] of the people;64
And in the seat of the elderly men let them praise him.65 - ¶ He converts rivers into a wilderness,66
And the outflows of water into thirsty ground,67 - ¶ Fruitful land into salt country,68
Owing to the badness of those dwelling in it. - ¶ He converts a wilderness into a reedy pool of water,69
And the land of a waterless region into outflows of water.70 - ¶ And there he causes the hungry ones to dwell,71
So that they firmly establish a city of habitation.72 - ¶ And they sow fields and plant vineyards,73
That they may yield fruitful crops.74 - ¶ And he blesses them so that they become very many;75
And he does not let their cattle become few.76 - ¶ Again they become few and crouch down77
Owing to restraint, calamity and grief.78 - ¶ He is pouring out contempt upon nobles,79
So that he makes them wander about in a featureless place, where there is no way.80 - ¶ But he protects[n] the poor one from affliction81
And converts him into families just like a flock.82 - ¶ The upright ones see and rejoice;83
But as for all unrighteousness, it has to shut its mouth.84 - ¶ Who is wise? He will both observe these things85
And show himself attentive toward Jehovah’s acts of loving-kindness.86
