Chapter 15 of ProverbsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ An answer, when mild, turns away rage,1 but a word causing pain makes anger to come up.2
  2. ¶ The tongue of wise ones does good with knowledge,3 but the mouth of the stupid ones bubbles forth with foolishness.4
  3. ¶ The eyes of Jehovah are in every place,5 keeping watch upon the bad ones and the good ones.6
  4. ¶ The calmness of the tongue is a tree of life,7 but distortion in it means a breaking down in the spirit.8
  5. ¶ Anyone foolish disrespects the discipline of his father,9 but anyone regarding reproof is shrewd.10
  6. ¶ In the house[a] of the righteous one there is an abundant store,11 but in the produce of the wicked one there is a becoming ostracized.12
  7. ¶ The lips of the wise ones keep scattering knowledge about,13 but the heart of the stupid ones is not like that.14
  8. ¶ The sacrifice of the wicked ones is something detestable to Jehovah,15 but the prayer of the upright ones is a pleasure to him.16
  9. ¶ The way of the wicked one is something detestable to Jehovah,17 but the one pursuing righteousness he loves.18
  10. ¶ Discipline is bad to the one leaving the path;19 anyone hating reproof will die.20
  11. ¶ Sheʹol and [the place of] destruction[b]21 are in front of Jehovah.22 How much more so the hearts of the sons of mankind![c]23
  12. ¶ The ridiculer does not love the one reproving him.24 To the wise ones he will not go.25
  13. ¶ A joyful heart has a good effect on the countenance,26 but because of the pain of the heart there is a stricken spirit.27
  14. ¶ The understanding heart is one that searches for knowledge,28 but the mouth of stupid people is one that aspires to foolishness.29
  15. ¶ All the days of the afflicted one are bad;30 but the one that is good at heart[d] [has] a feast constantly.31
  16. ¶ Better is a little in the fear of Jehovah32 than an abundant supply and confusion along with it.33
  17. ¶ Better is a dish of vegetables where there is love34 than a manger-fed bull and hatred along with it.35
  18. ¶ An enraged man stirs up contention,36 but one that is slow to anger quiets down quarreling.37
  19. ¶ The way of the lazy one is like a brier hedge,38 but the path of the upright ones is a way cast up.39
  20. ¶ A wise son is the one that makes a father rejoice,40 but a stupid man is despising his mother.41
  21. ¶ Foolishness is a rejoicing to one who is in want of heart,[e]42 but the man of discernment is one who goes straight ahead.43
  22. ¶ There is a frustrating of plans where there is no confidential talk,44 but in the multitude of counselors there is accomplishment.45
  23. ¶ A man has rejoicing in the answer of his mouth,46 and a word at its right time is O how good!47
  24. ¶ The path of life is upward to one acting with insight,48 in order to turn away from Sheʹol down below.49
  25. ¶ The house of the self-exalted ones Jehovah will tear down,50 but he will fix the boundary of the widow.51
  26. ¶ The schemes of the bad one are something detestable to Jehovah,52 but pleasant sayings are clean.53
  27. ¶ The one making unjust profit is bringing ostracism upon his own house,54 but the hater of gifts is the one that will keep living.55
  28. ¶ The heart of the righteous one meditates[f] so as to answer,56 but the mouth of the wicked ones bubbles forth with bad things.57
  29. ¶ Jehovah is far away from the wicked ones,58 but the prayer of the righteous ones he hears.59
  30. ¶ The brightness of the eyes60 makes the heart rejoice;61 a report62 that is good makes the bones fat.63
  31. ¶ The ear that is listening to the reproof64 of life lodges right in among wise people.65
  32. ¶ Anyone shunning discipline66 is rejecting his own soul, but the one listening to reproof is acquiring heart.[g]67
  33. ¶ The fear of Jehovah is a discipline toward wisdom,68 and before glory there is humility.69

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
