Chapter 3 of NumbersNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now these were the generations[a] of Aaron and Moses in the day that Jehovah spoke with Moses in Mount Siʹnai.1
  2. And these were the names of Aaron’s sons: the firstborn Naʹdab and A·biʹhu,2 El·e·aʹzar3 and Ithʹa·mar.4
  3. These were the names of Aaron’s sons, the anointed priests whose hands had been filled with power to act as priests.5
  4. However, Naʹdab and A·biʹhu died before Jehovah when they offered illegitimate fire6 before Jehovah in the wilderness of Siʹnai; and they did not come to have any sons. But El·e·aʹzar7 and Ithʹa·mar8 continued to act as priests along with Aaron their father.
  5. ¶ And Jehovah proceeded to speak to Moses, saying:
  6. “Bring the tribe of Leʹvi9 near, and you must stand them before Aaron the priest, and they must minister10 to him.
  7. And they must keep their obligation to him and their obligation to all the assembly before the tent of meeting in discharging the service of the tabernacle.
  8. And they must take care of all the utensils11 of the tent of meeting, even the obligation of the sons of Israel in discharging the service of the tabernacle.12
  9. And you must give the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They are given ones,[b] given to him from the sons of Israel.13
  10. And you should appoint Aaron and his sons, and they must take care of their priesthood;14 and any stranger[c] coming near should be put to death.”15
  11. ¶ And Jehovah continued to speak to Moses, saying:
  12. “As for me, look! I do take the Levites from among the sons of Israel in place of all the firstborn16 opening the womb of the sons of Israel; and the Levites must become mine.
  13. For every firstborn is mine.17 In the day that I struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt18 I sanctified to myself every firstborn in Israel from man to beast.19 They should become mine. I am Jehovah.”
  14. ¶ And Jehovah spoke further to Moses in the wilderness of Siʹnai,20 saying:
  15. “Register the sons of Leʹvi according to the house of their fathers by their families. Every male from a month old upward you should register.”21
  16. And Moses began to register them at the order of Jehovah, just as he had been commanded.
  17. And these came to be the sons of Leʹvi22 by their names: Gerʹshon and Koʹhath and Me·rarʹi.23
  18. ¶ Now these were the names of the sons of Gerʹshon by their families: Libʹni and Shimʹe·i.24
  19. ¶ And the sons of Koʹhath25 by their families were Amʹram and Izʹhar,26 Heʹbron and Uzʹzi·el.
  20. ¶ And the sons of Me·rarʹi27 by their families were Mahʹli28 and Muʹshi.29
¶ These were the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.
  21. ¶ Of Gerʹshon there were the family of the Libʹnites30 and the family of the Shimʹe·ites.31 These were the families of the Gerʹshon·ites.
  22. Their registered ones were by number of all males from a month old upward.32 Their registered ones were seven thousand five hundred.33
  23. The families of the Gerʹshon·ites were behind the tabernacle.34 They were encamped to the west.
  24. And the chieftain of the paternal house for the Gerʹshon·ites was E·liʹa·saph the son of Laʹel.
  25. And the obligation of the sons of Gerʹshon35 in the tent of meeting was the tabernacle and the tent,36 its covering37 and the screen38 of the entrance of the tent of meeting,
  26. and the hangings39 of the courtyard and the screen40 of the entrance of the courtyard that is round about the tabernacle and the altar, and its tent cords,41 for all its service.
  27. ¶ And of Koʹhath there were the family of the Amʹram·ites and the family of the Izʹhar·ites and the family of the Heʹbron·ites and the family of the Uz·ziʹel·ites. These were the families of the Koʹhath·ites.42
  28. Among the number of all the males from a month old upward there were eight thousand six[d] hundred, taking care of the obligation to the holy place.43
  29. The families of the sons of Koʹhath were encamped on the side of the tabernacle to the south.44
  30. And the chieftain of the paternal house for the families of the Koʹhath·ites was E·li·zaʹphan the son of Uzʹzi·el.45
  31. And their obligation46 was the Ark47 and the table48 and the lampstand49 and the altars50 and the utensils51 of the holy place with which they would minister and the screen,52 and all its service.
  32. ¶ And the chieftain of the chieftains of the Levites was El·e·aʹzar53 the son of Aaron the priest, who had the oversight of those taking care of the obligation to the holy place.
  33. ¶ Of Me·rarʹi there were the family of the Mahʹlites54 and the family of the Muʹshites.55 These were the families of Me·rarʹi.56
  34. And their registered ones by the number of all the males from a month old upward were six thousand two hundred.57
  35. And the chieftain of the paternal house for the families of Me·rarʹi was Zuʹri·el the son of Abʹi·ha·il. They were encamped on the side of the tabernacle toward the north.58
  36. And the oversight for which the sons of Me·rarʹi were obligated was over the panel frames59 of the tabernacle and its bars60 and its pillars61 and its socket pedestals and all its utensils62 and all its service,63
  37. and the pillars64 of the courtyard round about and their socket pedestals65 and their tent pins and their tent cords.
  38. ¶ And those camping before the tabernacle toward the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrising, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, those taking care of the obligation to the sanctuary,66 as the obligation for the sons of Israel. And any stranger[e] coming near would be put to death.67
  39. ¶ All the registered ones of the Levites whom Moses and Aaron[f] registered at the order of Jehovah by their families, all the males from a month old upward, were twenty-two thousand.
  40. ¶ Then Jehovah said to Moses: “Register all the firstborn males of the sons of Israel from a month old upward,68 and take the number of their names.
  41. And you must take the Levites for me—I am Jehovah—in place of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel,69 and the domestic animals of the Levites in place of all the firstborn among the domestic animals of the sons of Israel.”70
  42. And Moses proceeded, just as Jehovah had commanded him, to register all the firstborn among the sons of Israel.
  43. And all the firstborn males by the number of the names from a month old upward of their registered ones came to be twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
  44. ¶ And Jehovah continued to speak to Moses, saying:
  45. “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel, and the domestic animals of the Levites in place of their domestic animals; and the Levites must become mine.71 I am Jehovah.
  46. And as the ransom price72 of the two hundred and seventy-three from the firstborn of the sons of Israel, who are in excess of the Levites,73
  47. you must take five shekels for each individual.74 In the shekel of the holy place you should take it. A shekel is twenty geʹrahs.75
  48. And you must give the money to Aaron and his sons as the ransom price of those who are in excess of them.”
  49. So Moses took the money of the redemption price from those who were in excess of the ransom price of the Levites.
  50. From the firstborn of the sons of Israel he took the money, a thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels,[g] in the shekel of the holy place.
  51. Then Moses gave the money of the ransom price to Aaron and his sons according to the order of Jehovah, just as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
