Chapter 11 of NumbersNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now the people became as men having something evil to complain about in the ears of Jehovah.1 When Jehovah got to hear it, then his anger grew hot, and a fire of Jehovah began to blaze against them and to consume some in the extremity of the camp.2
  2. When the people began to cry out to Moses, then he made supplication to Jehovah,3 and the fire sank down.
  3. And the name of that place got to be called[a] Tabʹe·rah,[b]4 because a fire of Jehovah had blazed against them.
  4. ¶ And the mixed crowd[c]5 that was in the midst of them expressed selfish longing,6 and the sons of Israel too began to weep again and say: “Who will give us meat to eat?7
  5. How we remember the fish that we used to eat in Egypt for nothing,8 the cucumbers and the watermelons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic!
  6. But now our soul is dried away. Our eyes are on nothing at all except the manna.”9
  7. ¶ Incidentally, the manna10 was like coriander11 seed, and its look[d] was like the look of bdellium gum.12
  8. The people spread out and picked it up13 and ground it in hand mills or pounded it in a mortar, and they boiled it in cooking pots14 or made it into round cakes, and its taste proved to be like the taste of an oiled sweet cake.15
  9. And when the dew descended upon the camp by night, the manna would descend upon it.16
  10. ¶ And Moses got to hear the people weeping in their families, each man at the entrance of his tent. And Jehovah’s anger began growing very hot,17 and in the eyes of Moses it was bad.18
  11. Then Moses said to Jehovah: “Why have you caused evil to your servant,[e] and why have I not found favor in your eyes, in placing the load of all this people upon me?19
  12. Have I myself conceived all this people? Is it I who have given them birth, so that you should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom,20 just as the male nurse carries the suckling,’21 to the soil about which you swore to their forefathers?22
  13. From where do I have meat to give to all this people? For they keep weeping toward me, saying, ‘Do give us meat, and let us eat!’
  14. I am not able, I by myself, to carry all this people, because they are too heavy for me.23
  15. So if this is the way you are doing to me, please kill me off[f] altogether,24 if I have found favor in your eyes, and let me not look upon my calamity.”[g]
  16. ¶ In turn Jehovah said to Moses: “Gather for me seventy men of the older men of Israel,25 whom you do know that they are older men of the people and officers of theirs,26 and you must take them to the tent of meeting, and they must station themselves there with you.
  17. And I shall have to come down27 and speak with you there;28 and I shall have to take away some of the spirit29 that is upon you and place it upon them, and they will have to help you in carrying the load of the people that you may not carry it, just you alone.30
  18. And to the people you should say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow,31 as YOU will certainly eat meat, because YOU have wept in the ears of Jehovah,32 saying: “Who will give us meat to eat, for it was well with us in Egypt?”33 And Jehovah will certainly give YOU meat, and YOU will indeed eat.34
  19. YOU will eat, not one day nor two days nor five days nor ten days nor twenty days,
  20. but up to a month of days, until it comes out of YOUR nostrils and it has become a loathing to YOU,35 just because YOU rejected Jehovah, who is in YOUR midst, and YOU went weeping before him, saying: “Why is it that we have come out of Egypt?”’”36
  21. ¶ Then Moses said: “The people in the midst of whom I am are six hundred thousand men37 on foot, and yet you—you have said, ‘Meat I shall give them, and they will certainly eat for a month of days’!
  22. Will flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, for it to be adequate for them?38 Or will all the fish of the sea be caught for them, for it to be adequate for them?”
  23. ¶ At this Jehovah said to Moses: “The hand of Jehovah is cut short, is it?39 Now you will see whether what I say befalls you or not.”40
  24. ¶ After that Moses went out and spoke to the people the words of Jehovah. And he went gathering seventy men from the older men of the people and proceeded to have them stand round about the tent.41
  25. Then Jehovah came down in a cloud42 and spoke to him43 and took away some of the spirit44 that was upon him and put it upon each of the seventy older men.[h] And it came about that as soon as the spirit settled down upon them, then they proceeded to act as prophets; but they did not do it again.[i]45
  26. ¶ Now there were two of the men remaining in the camp. The name of the one was Elʹdad, and the name of the other was Meʹdad. And the spirit began to settle down upon them, as they were among those written down, but they had not gone out to the tent. So they proceeded to act as prophets in the camp.
  27. And a young man went running and reporting to Moses and saying: “Elʹdad and Meʹdad are acting as prophets in the camp!”
  28. Then Joshua[j] the son of Nun, the minister46 of Moses from his young manhood on, responded and said: “My lord Moses, restrain them!”47
  29. However, Moses said to him: “Are you feeling jealous for me? No, I wish[k] that all of Jehovah’s people were prophets, because Jehovah would put his spirit[l] upon them!”48
  30. Later Moses withdrew to the camp, he and the older men of Israel.
  31. ¶ And a wind[m]49 burst forth from Jehovah and began driving quails from the sea50 and letting them fall above the camp about a day’s journey this way and about a day’s journey that way, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.[n]
  32. Then the people got up all that day and all night and all the next day and kept gathering the quail. The one collecting least gathered ten hoʹmers,[o]51 and they kept spreading them extensively[p] all around the camp for themselves.
  33. The meat was yet between their teeth,52 before it could be chewed, when Jehovah’s anger blazed53 against the people, and Jehovah began striking at the people with a very great slaughter.54
  34. ¶ The name of that place came to be called Kibʹroth-hat·taʹa·vah,[q]55 because there they buried the people who showed selfish craving.56
  35. From Kibʹroth-hat·taʹa·vah the people pulled away for Ha·zeʹroth, and they continued in Ha·zeʹroth.57

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
