Chapter 9 of NehemiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And on the twenty-fourth day of this month1 the sons of Israel gathered themselves together with fasting2 and with sackcloth3 and dirt4 upon themselves.
  2. And the seed of Israel proceeded to separate5 themselves from all the foreigners,[a]6 and to stand and make confession7 of their own sins8 and the errors of their fathers.9
  3. Then they rose up at their place10 and they read aloud from the book of the law11 of Jehovah their God a fourth part of the day;12 and a fourth part they were making confession13 and bowing down to Jehovah their God.14
  4. ¶ And Jeshʹu·a and Baʹni, Kadʹmi·el, Sheb·a·niʹah, Bunʹni, She·re·biʹah,15 Baʹni [and] Che·naʹni proceeded to rise on the platform16 of the Levites and cry out with a loud voice17 to Jehovah their God.
  5. And the Levites Jeshʹu·a and Kadʹmi·el, Baʹni, Hash·ab·neiʹah, She·re·biʹah, Ho·diʹah, Sheb·a·niʹah [and] Peth·a·hiʹah went on to say: “Rise, bless18 Jehovah YOUR God from time indefinite to time indefinite.19 And let them bless your glorious name,20 which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
  6. ¶ “You are Jehovah alone;21 you yourself have made the heavens,22 [even] the heaven of the heavens, and all their army,23 the earth24 and all that is upon it,25 the seas26 and all that is in them;27 and you are preserving all of them alive; and the army28 of the heavens are bowing down to you.
  7. You are Jehovah the [true] God, who chose Aʹbram29 and brought him out of Ur of the Chal·deʹans30 and constituted his name Abraham.31
  8. And you found his heart faithful before you;32 so there was a contracting[b] of the covenant33 with him to give [him] the land of the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Amʹor·ites and the Perʹiz·zites and the Jebʹu·sites and the Girʹga·shites, to give [it] to his seed;34 and you proceeded to carry out your words, because you are righteous.35
  9. ¶ “So you saw36 the affliction of our forefathers in Egypt, and their outcry at the Red Sea you heard.37
  10. Then you gave signs and miracles against Pharʹaoh and all his servants and all the people of his land,38 for you knew that they acted presumptuously39 against them; and you proceeded to make a name40 for yourself as at this day.
  11. And the sea you split41 before them, so that they crossed over through the midst of the sea on the dry land;42 and their pursuers you hurled into the depths43 like a stone44 in the strong waters.45
  12. And by a pillar of cloud you led them by day,46 and by a pillar of fire by night,47 to light48 up for them the way in which they should go.
  13. And upon Mount Siʹnai you came down49 and spoke with them out of heaven50 and went on to give them upright judicial decisions51 and laws of truth,52 good regulations53 and commandments.54
  14. And your holy sabbath55 you made known to them, and commandments and regulations and a law you commanded them by means of Moses your servant.56
  15. And bread from heaven you gave them for their hunger,57 and waters out of the crag you brought forth to them for their thirst,58 and you went on to say to them to enter59 and possess the land that you had lifted your hand [in an oath] to give to them.60
  16. ¶ “And they themselves, even our forefathers, acted presumptuously61 and proceeded to harden their neck,62 and they did not listen to your commandments.
  17. So they refused to listen,63 and they did not remember64 your wonderful acts that you performed with them, but they hardened their neck65 and appointed a head66 to return to their servitude in Egypt.[c] But you are a God[d] of acts of forgiveness,67 gracious68 and merciful,69 slow to anger70 and abundant71 in loving-kindness, and you did not leave them.72
  18. Yes, when they had made for themselves a molten statue of a calf73 and began to say, ‘This is your God[e] who led you up out of Egypt,’74 and they went on to commit great acts of disrespect,
  19. you, even you, in your abundant mercy did not leave75 them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud itself did not depart from over them by day to lead them in the way,76 nor the pillar of fire by night to light up for them the way in which they should go.77
  20. And your good spirit78 you gave to make them prudent, and your manna you did not hold back from their mouth,79 and water you gave them for their thirst.80
  21. And for forty81 years you provided them with food in the wilderness. They lacked nothing.82 Their very garments did not wear out,83 and their feet themselves did not become swollen.84
  22. ¶ “And you proceeded to give them kingdoms85 and peoples, and to apportion them piece by piece;86 so that they took possession of the land of Siʹhon,87 even the land of the king of Heshʹbon,88 and the land of Og89 the king of Baʹshan.90
  23. And their sons you made as many as the stars of the heavens.91 Then you brought them into the land92 that you had promised to their forefathers93 that [they] should enter to take possession.
  24. So their sons94 came in and took the land in possession,95 and you proceeded to subdue96 before them the inhabitants of the land, the Caʹnaan·ites,97 and to give them into their hand, even their kings98 and the peoples of the land,99 to do with them according to their liking.100
  25. And they went capturing fortified cities101 and a fat soil102 and taking in possession houses full of all good things,103 cisterns hewn out,104 vineyards and olive groves105 and trees for food in abundance, and they began to eat and to be satisfied106 and to grow fat107 and to luxuriate in your great goodness.108
  26. ¶ “However, they became disobedient109 and rebelled against you110 and kept casting your law behind their back,111 and your own prophets they killed,112 who bore witness against them to bring them back to you;113 and they went on committing acts of great disrespect.114
  27. For this you gave them into the hand of their adversaries,115 who kept causing them distress;116 but in the time of their distress they would cry out to you,117 and you yourself would hear from the very heavens;118 and in accord with your abundant mercy119 you would give them saviors120 who would save them out of the hand of their adversaries.121
  28. ¶ “But as soon as they were at rest, they would again do what is bad before you,122 and you would leave them to the hand of their enemies, who would tread them down.123 Then they would return and call to you for aid,124 and you yourself would hear from the very heavens125 and deliver them in accord with your abundant mercy, time and again.126
  29. Although you would bear witness127 against them to bring them back to your law,128 they themselves even acted presumptuously129 and did not listen to your commandments; and against your own judicial decisions130 they sinned,131 which, if a man[f] will do, he must also live by means of them.[g]132 And they kept giving a stubborn shoulder,133 and their neck they hardened,134 and they did not listen.135
  30. But you were indulgent with them for many years136 and kept bearing witness137 against them by your spirit by means of your prophets, and they did not give ear.138 Finally you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.139
  31. And in your abundant mercy you did not make an extermination of them140 or leave141 them; for you are a God[h] gracious142 and merciful.143
  32. ¶ “And now, O our God, the God[i] great,144 mighty145 and fear-inspiring,[j]146 keeping the covenant147 and loving-kindness,[k]148 do not let all the hardship that has found us,149 our kings,150 our princes151 and our priests152 and our prophets153 and our forefathers154 and all your people from the days of the kings of As·syrʹi·a down to this day,155 seem little before you.156
  33. And you are righteous157 as regards all that has come upon us, for faithfully158 is how you have acted, but we are the ones that have done wickedly.159
  34. As for our kings, our princes, our priests and our forefathers,160 they have not performed your law,161 nor paid attention to your commandments162 or to your testimonies[l] with which you bore witness163 against them.
  35. And they themselves—during their[m] kingdom164 and amid your abundant good things165 that you gave to them and in the broad and fat land166 that you made available for them, they did not serve you167 and did not turn back from their bad practices.168
  36. Look! We are today slaves;169 and as for the land that you gave to our forefathers to eat its fruitage and its good things, look! we are slaves upon it,170
  37. and its produce is abounding171 for the kings172 that you have put over us because of our sins,173 and over our bodies they are ruling and over our domestic animals, according to their liking, and we are in great distress.[n]174
  38. ¶ “So in view of all this we are contracting[o] a trustworthy arrangement,175 both in writing and attested by the seal176 of our princes,[p] our Levites [and] our priests.”177

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.
