Chapter 4 of NehemiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. [a] Now it came about that, as soon as San·balʹlat1 heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry2 and highly offended, and he kept deriding3 the Jews.
  2. And he began to say before his brothers4 and the military force of Sa·marʹi·a, yes, he began to say: “What are the feeble Jews doing? Will they depend upon themselves? Will they sacrifice?5 Will they finish up in a day? Will they bring the stones to life out of the heaps of dusty rubbish6 when they are burned?”
  3. ¶ Now To·biʹah7 the Amʹmon·ite8 was alongside him, and he went on to say: “Even what they are building, if a fox9 went up [against it], he would certainly break down their wall of stones.”
  4. ¶ Hear,10 O our God, for we have become an object of contempt;11 and make their reproach12 return upon their own head, and give them to the plunder in the land of captivity.
  5. And do not cover over their error13 and their sin from before you. Let it not be wiped out, for they have committed offense against the builders.
  6. ¶ So we kept building the wall, and the entire wall came to be joined together clear to half its [height], and the people continued to have a heart for working.14
  7. [b] Now it came about that, as soon as San·balʹlat15 and To·biʹah16 and the Arabians17 and the Amʹmon·ites18 and the Ashʹdod·ites19 heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem had gone forward, for the gaps had started to be stopped up, they became very angry.
  8. And all of them began to conspire20 together to come and fight against Jerusalem and cause me[c] disturbance.
  9. But we prayed21 to our God and kept a guard posted against them day and night on account of them.
  10. ¶ And Judah began to say: “The power of the burden bearer22 has stumbled, and there is a great deal of rubbish;23 and we ourselves are not able to build on the wall.”
  11. ¶ Moreover, our adversaries kept saying: “They will not know24 and they will not see until we come right in among them, and we shall certainly kill them and put a stop to the work.”
  12. ¶ And it came about that, whenever the Jews dwelling close by them came in, they proceeded to say to us ten times: “[They will come up][d] from all the places where YOU people will return to us.”
  13. ¶ So I kept [men] posted at the lowest parts of the place behind the wall at the open places, and I kept the people posted by families with their swords,25 their lances26 and their bows.
  14. When I saw [their fear] I immediately rose and said to the nobles27 and the deputy rulers28 and the rest of the people: “Do not be afraid29 on their account. Jehovah[e] the great30 and the fear-inspiring31 One keep in YOUR mind; and fight for YOUR brothers,32 YOUR sons and YOUR daughters, YOUR wives and YOUR homes.”
  15. ¶ Now it came about that as soon as our enemies heard that it had become known to us, so that the [true] God[f] had frustrated their counsel33 and we had all of us gone back to the wall, each one to his work,
  16. yes, it came about that from that day forward half of my young men34 were active in the work and half of them were holding the lances, the shields and the bows and the coats of mail;35 and the princes36 were behind the whole house of Judah.
  17. As for the builders on the wall and those who were carrying the burden of load bearers, [each] one was active in the work with his one hand while the other [hand]37 was holding the missile.38
  18. And the builders were girded, each one with his sword upon his hip,39 while building;40 and the one to blow the horn41 was alongside me.
  19. ¶ And I proceeded to say to the nobles and the deputy rulers42 and the rest of the people: “The work is large and extensive, and we are spread about upon the wall far apart from one another.
  20. In the place where YOU hear the sound of the horn,[g] there is where YOU will collect yourselves together to us. Our God himself will fight for us.”43
  21. ¶ While we were active in the work, the other half of them also were holding the lances, from the ascending of the dawn until the stars came out.
  22. Besides, at that time I said to the people: “Let the men spend the night, each one with his attendant, in the midst of Jerusalem,44 and they must become for us a guard by night and workers[h] by day.”
  23. As for me45 and my brothers46 and my attendants47 and the men of the guard48 who were behind me, we were not taking off our garments, each one [having] his missile49 in his right hand.[i]

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
