Chapter 11 of MatthewNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now when Jesus had finished giving instructions to his twelve disciples, he set out from there to teach and preach in their cities.1
  2. ¶ But John, having heard in jail2 about the works of the Christ, sent by means of his own disciples
  3. and said to him: “Are you the Coming One, or are we to expect a different one?”3
  4. In reply Jesus said to them: “Go YOUR way and report to John what YOU are hearing and seeing:
  5. The blind are seeing again,4 and the lame5 are walking about, the lepers6 are being cleansed and the deaf7 are hearing, and the dead8 are being raised up, and the poor are having the good news9 declared to them;
  6. and happy is he that finds no cause for stumbling in me.”10
  7. ¶ While these were on their way, Jesus started to say to the crowds respecting John: “What did YOU go out into the wilderness to behold?11 A reed being tossed by a wind?12
  8. What, then, did YOU go out to see? A man dressed in soft garments? Why, those wearing soft garments are in the houses of kings.13
  9. Really, then, why did YOU go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell YOU, and far more than a prophet.14
  10. This is he concerning whom it is written, ‘Look! I myself am sending forth my messenger[a] before your face, who will prepare your way ahead of you!’15
  11. Truly I say to YOU people, Among those born of women16 there has not been raised up a greater than John the Baptist;[b] but a person that is a lesser one in the kingdom17 of the heavens is greater than he is.
  12. But from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press, and those pressing forward are seizing it.18
  13. For all, the Prophets and the Law, prophesied until John;19
  14. and if YOU want to accept it, He himself is ‘E·liʹjah[c] who is destined to come.’20
  15. Let him that has ears listen.21
  16. ¶ “With whom shall I compare this generation?22 It is like young children sitting in the marketplaces who cry out to their playmates,23
  17. saying, ‘We played the flute for YOU, but YOU did not dance; we wailed, but YOU did not beat yourselves in grief.’24
  18. Correspondingly, John came neither eating nor drinking,25 yet people say, ‘He has a demon’;
  19. the Son of man did come eating and drinking,26 still people say, ‘Look! A man gluttonous and given to drinking wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’27 All the same, wisdom is proved righteous by its works.”28
  20. ¶ Then he started to reproach the cities in which most of his powerful works had taken place, because they did not repent:29
  21. “Woe to you, Cho·raʹzin! Woe to you, Beth·saʹi·da!30 because if the powerful works had taken place in Tyre and Siʹdon that took place in YOU, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.31
  22. Consequently I say to YOU, It will be more endurable for Tyre and Siʹdon on Judgment Day32 than for YOU.33
  23. And you, Ca·perʹna·um,34 will you perhaps be exalted to heaven?[d] Down to Haʹdes[e]35 you will come;36 because if the powerful works that took place in you had taken place in Sodʹom, it would have remained until this very day.
  24. Consequently I say to YOU people, It will be more endurable for the land of Sodʹom on Judgment Day than for you.”[f]37
  25. ¶ At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes.38
  26. Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you.
  27. All things have been delivered to me by my Father,39 and no one fully knows the Son but the Father,40 neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.41
  28. Come to me, all YOU who are toiling and loaded down,42 and I will refresh YOU.
  29. Take my yoke43 upon YOU[g] and learn from me,[h]44 for I am mild-tempered45 and lowly in heart, and YOU will find refreshment46 for YOUR souls.[i]
  30. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light.”47

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
