Chapter 14 of MarkNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now the passover1 and the [festival2 of] unfermented cakes was two days later.3 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize him by crafty device and kill him;4
  2. for they repeatedly said: “Not at the festival; perhaps there might be an uproar of the people.”5
  3. ¶ And while he was at Bethʹa·ny in the house of Simon the leper,6 as he was reclining at the meal, a woman came with an alabaster case of perfumed oil, genuine nard, very expensive. Breaking open the alabaster case she began to pour it upon his head.7
  4. At this there were some expressing indignation among themselves: “Why has this waste of the perfumed oil taken place?8
  5. For this perfumed oil could have been sold for upward of three hundred de·narʹi·i[a] and been given to the poor!” And they were feeling great displeasure at her.9
  6. But Jesus said: “Let her alone. Why do YOU try to make trouble for her? She did a fine deed toward me.10
  7. For YOU always have the poor11 with YOU, and whenever YOU want to YOU can always do them good, but me YOU do not have always.12
  8. She did what she could; she undertook beforehand to put perfumed oil on my body in view of the burial.13
  9. Truly I say to YOU, Wherever the good news is preached in all the world,14 what this woman did shall also be told as a remembrance of her.”15
  10. ¶ And Judas Is·carʹi·ot, one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests in order to betray him to them.16
  11. When they heard it, they rejoiced and promised to give him silver money.17 So he began seeking how to betray him conveniently.18
  12. ¶ Now on the first day of[b] unfermented19 cakes, when they customarily sacrificed the passover [victim], his disciples20 said to him: “Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the passover?”21
  13. With that he sent forth two of his disciples and said to them: “Go into the city, and a man carrying an earthenware vessel of water will encounter YOU.22 Follow him,
  14. and wherever he goes inside say to the householder, ‘The Teacher says: “Where is the guest room for me where I may eat the passover23 with my disciples?”’24
  15. And he will show YOU a large upper room, furnished in preparation; and there prepare for us.”25
  16. So the disciples went out, and they entered the city and found it just as he said to them; and they prepared for the passover.26
  17. ¶ After evening had fallen he came with the twelve.27
  18. And as they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said: “Truly I say to YOU, One of YOU, who is eating28 with me, will betray me.”29
  19. They started to be grieved and to say to him one by one: “It is not I, is it?”30
  20. He said to them: “It is one of the twelve, who is dipping with me into the common bowl.31
  21. True, the Son of man is going away, just as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been finer for that man if he had not been born.”32
  22. ¶ And as they continued eating, he took a loaf, said a blessing, broke it and gave it to them, and said: “Take it, this means my body.”33
  23. And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, and they all drank out of it.34
  24. And he said to them: “This means[c] my ‘blood35 of the covenant,’36 which is to be poured37 out in behalf of many.38
  25. Truly I say to YOU, I shall by no means drink anymore of the product of the vine until that day when I drink it new[d] in the kingdom of God.”39
  26. Finally, after singing praises,[e]40 they went out to the Mount of Olives.41
  27. ¶ And Jesus said to them: “YOU will all be stumbled, because it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd,42 and the sheep will be scattered about.’43
  28. But after I have been raised up I will go ahead of YOU into Galʹi·lee.”44
  29. But Peter said to him: “Even if all the others are stumbled, yet I will not be.”45
  30. At that Jesus said to him: “Truly I say to you, You today, yes, this night, before a cock crows twice, even you will disown me three times.”46
  31. But he began to say profusely: “If I have to die with you, I will by no means disown you.” Also, all the others began saying the same thing.47
  32. ¶ So they came to a spot named Geth·semʹa·ne, and he said to his disciples: “Sit down here while I pray.”48
  33. And he took Peter and James and John49 along with him, and he started to be stunned and to be sorely troubled.50
  34. And he said to them: “My soul is deeply grieved,51 even to death. Stay here and keep on the watch.”52
  35. And going a little way forward he proceeded to fall on the ground and began praying that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.53
  36. And he went on to say: “Abba,[f] Father,54 all things are possible to you; remove this cup from me. Yet not what I want, but what you want.”55
  37. And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter: “Simon, are you sleeping? Did you not have strength to keep on the watch one hour?56
  38. Men, keep on the watch and praying,57 in order that YOU do not come into temptation. The spirit, of course, is eager, but the flesh is weak.”58
  39. And he went away again and prayed, saying the same word.59
  40. And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were weighed down, and so they did not know what to answer him.60
  41. And he came the third time and said to them: “At such a time as this YOU are sleeping and taking YOUR rest! It is enough! The hour has come!61 Look! The Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.62
  42. Get up, let us go.63 Look! My betrayer has drawn near.”64
  43. ¶ And immediately, while he was yet speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived and with him a crowd with swords and clubs from the chief priests and the scribes and the older men.65
  44. Now his betrayer had given them an agreed sign, saying: “Whoever it is I kiss, this is he; take him into custody and lead him away safely.”[g]66
  45. And he came straight up and approached him and said: “Rabbi!” and kissed67 him very tenderly.
  46. So they laid their hands upon him and took him into custody.68
  47. However, a certain one of those standing by drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took his ear off.69
  48. But in response Jesus said to them: “Did YOU come out with swords and clubs as against a robber to arrest me?70
  49. Day after day I was with YOU in the temple teaching,71 and yet YOU did not take me into custody. Nevertheless, it is in order that the Scriptures72 may be fulfilled.”73
  50. ¶ And they all abandoned74 him and fled.75
  51. But a certain young man wearing a fine linen garment over his naked body began to follow him nearby; and they tried to seize him,76
  52. but he left his linen garment behind and got away naked.[h]
  53. ¶ They now led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests and the older men and the scribes assembled.77
  54. But Peter, from a good distance, followed him78 as far as in the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting together with the house attendants and warming himself before a bright fire.
  55. Meantime the chief priests and the whole Sanʹhe·drin were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death,79 but they were not finding any.80
  56. Many, indeed, were giving false witness against him,81 but their testimonies were not in agreement.82
  57. Also, certain ones were rising and bearing false witness against him, saying:
  58. “We heard him say, ‘I will throw down this temple[i] that was made with hands and in three days I will build another not made with hands.’”83
  59. But neither on these grounds was their testimony in agreement.
  60. ¶ Finally the high priest rose in their midst and questioned Jesus, saying: “Do you say nothing in reply? What is it these are testifying against you?”84
  61. But he kept silent and made no reply at all.85 Again the high priest began to question him and said to him: “Are you the Christ the Son of the Blessed One?”86
  62. Then Jesus said: “I am; and YOU persons will see the Son of man87 sitting at the right hand88 of power and coming[j] with the clouds of heaven.”89
  63. At this the high priest ripped his inner garments90 and said: “What further need do we have of witnesses?91
  64. YOU heard the blasphemy.92 What is evident to YOU?” They all condemned him to be liable to death.
  65. And some started to spit93 on him and to cover his whole face and hit him with their fists and say to him: “Prophesy!” And, slapping him in the face, the court attendants took him.94
  66. ¶ Now while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came,95
  67. and, seeing Peter warming himself, she looked straight at him and said: “You, too, were with the Naz·a·reneʹ, this Jesus.”96
  68. But he denied it, saying: “Neither do I know him nor do I understand[k] what you are saying,” and he went outside to the vestibule.97
  69. There the servant girl, at the sight of him, started again to say to those standing by: “This is one of them.”98
  70. Again he was denying it. And once more after a little while those standing by began saying to Peter: “Certainly you are one of them, for, in fact, you are a Gal·i·leʹan.”99
  71. But he commenced to curse and swear:100 “I do not know this man of whom YOU speak.”101
  72. And immediately a cock crowed a second time;102 and Peter recalled the saying that Jesus spoke to him: “Before a cock crows twice, you will disown me three times.”103 And he broke down and gave way to weeping.104

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved. I am extremely happy to put his email purenaturalhealer@gmail.com  to anyone out there looking to solve his/her relationship problem. You can also WhatsApp him with his mobile number +2348105150446
