Chapter 6 of LukeNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now on a sabbath he happened to be passing through grainfields, and his disciples were plucking1 and eating the heads of grain, rubbing them with their hands.2
  2. At this some of the Pharisees said: “Why are YOU doing what is not lawful3 on the sabbath?”4
  3. But Jesus said in reply to them: “Have YOU never read the very thing David5 did when he and the men with him got hungry?6
  4. How he entered into the house of God and received the loaves of presentation[a]7 and ate and gave some to the men with him, which it is lawful for no one to eat but for the priests only?”8
  5. And he went on to say to them: “Lord of the sabbath is what the Son of man is.”9
  6. ¶ In the course of another sabbath10 he entered into the synagogue and began teaching. And there was a man present whose right hand was withered.11
  7. The scribes and the Pharisees were now watching12 him closely to see whether he would cure on the sabbath, in order to find some way to accuse him.13
  8. He, however, knew their reasonings,14 yet he said to the man with the withered hand: “Get up and stand in the center.” And he rose and took his stand.15
  9. Then Jesus said to them: “I ask YOU men, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good16 or to do injury, to save or to destroy a soul?”[b]17
  10. And after looking around at them all, he said to the man:[c] “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was restored.18
  11. But they became filled with madness, and they began to talk over with one another what they might do to Jesus.19
  12. ¶ In the progress of these days he went out into the mountain to pray,20 and he continued the whole night in prayer to God.21
  13. But when it became day he called his disciples to him and chose from among them twelve, whom he also named apostles:22
  14. Simon, whom he also named Peter,23 and Andrew his brother, and James and John,24 and Philip25 and Bar·tholʹo·mew,
  15. and Matthew and Thomas,26 and James [the son] of Al·phaeʹus, and Simon who is called “the zealous one,”[d]27
  16. and Judas [the son] of James, and Judas Is·carʹi·ot, who turned traitor.28
  17. ¶ And he came down with them and took his station on a level place, and there was a great crowd of his disciples, and a great multitude of people29 from all of Ju·deʹa and Jerusalem and the maritime country of Tyre and Siʹdon, who came to hear him and be healed of their sicknesses.30
  18. Even those troubled with unclean spirits were cured.
  19. And all the crowd were seeking to touch31 him, because power32 was going out of him and healing them all.
  20. ¶ And he lifted up his eyes upon his disciples and began to say:33
¶ “Happy[e] are YOU poor,34 because YOURS is the kingdom of God.
  21. ¶ “Happy are YOU who hunger35 now, because YOU will be filled.36
¶ “Happy are YOU who weep now, because YOU will laugh.37
  22. ¶ “Happy are YOU whenever men hate38 YOU, and whenever they exclude YOU and reproach YOU and cast out39 YOUR name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
  23. Rejoice in that day and leap, for, look! YOUR reward is great in heaven, for those are the same things their forefathers used to do to the prophets.40
  24. ¶ “But woe to YOU rich persons,41 because YOU are having YOUR consolation in full.42
  25. ¶ “Woe to YOU who are filled up now, because YOU will go hungry.43
¶ “Woe, YOU who are laughing now, because YOU will mourn and weep.44
  26. ¶ “Woe, whenever all men speak well of YOU, for things like these are what their forefathers did to the false prophets.45
  27. ¶ “But I say to YOU who are listening, Continue to love YOUR enemies,46 to do good47 to those hating YOU,
  28. to bless those cursing YOU, to pray for those who are insulting YOU.48
  29. To him that strikes you on the one cheek,49 offer the other also; and from him that takes away50 your outer garment, do not withhold even the undergarment.
  30. Give to everyone asking you,51 and from the one taking your things away do not ask [them] back.
  31. ¶ “Also, just as YOU want[f] men to do to YOU, do[g] the same way to them.52
  32. ¶ “And if YOU love those loving YOU, of what credit is it to YOU? For even the sinners love those loving them.53
  33. And if YOU do good to those doing good to YOU, really of what credit is it to YOU? Even the sinners do the same.54
  34. Also, if YOU lend [without interest]55 to those from whom YOU hope to receive, of what credit is it to YOU? Even sinners lend [without interest] to sinners that they may get back as much.56
  35. To the contrary, continue to love YOUR enemies and to do good and to lend57 [without interest], not hoping for anything back; and YOUR reward will be great, and YOU will be sons of the Most High,58 because he is kind59 toward the unthankful and wicked.
  36. Continue becoming merciful, just as YOUR Father is merciful.60
  37. ¶ “Moreover, stop judging, and YOU will by no means be judged;61 and stop condemning, and YOU will by no means be condemned. Keep on releasing, and YOU will be released.62
  38. Practice giving, and people will give to YOU.63 They will pour into YOUR laps[h] a fine measure, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing. For with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU in return.”64
  39. ¶ Then he also spoke an illustration to them: “A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Both will tumble into a pit, will they not?65
  40. A pupil is not above his teacher, but everyone that is perfectly instructed will be like his teacher.66
  41. Why, then, do you look at the straw that is in your brother’s eye, but do not observe the rafter that is in your own eye?67
  42. How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, allow me to extract the straw that is in your eye,’ while you yourself are not looking at the rafter in that eye of yours?68 Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye,69 and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw that is in your brother’s eye.70
  43. ¶ “For there is not a fine tree producing rotten fruit; again there is not a rotten tree producing fine fruit.71
  44. For each tree is known by its own fruit.72 For example, people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they cut grapes off a thornbush.73
  45. A good man brings forth good out of the good treasure74 of his heart, but a wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of his wicked [treasure]; for out of the heart’s abundance his mouth speaks.75
  46. ¶ “Why, then, do YOU call me ‘Lord! Lord!’ but do not do the things I say?76
  47. Everyone that comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show YOU whom he is like:77
  48. He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock-mass. Consequently, when a flood78 arose, the river dashed against that house, but was not strong enough to shake it, because of its being well built.79
  49. On the other hand, he who hears and does not do,80 is like a man who built a house upon the ground without a foundation. Against it the river dashed, and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin81 of that house became great.”82

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
