Chapter 20 of LukeNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ On one of the days while he was teaching the people in the temple and declaring the good news, the chief priests and the scribes with the older men came near,1
  2. and they spoke up, saying to him: “Tell us by what authority you do these things, or who it is that gave you this authority.”2
  3. In reply he said to them: “I will also ask YOU a question, and YOU tell me:3
  4. Was the baptism[a] of John from heaven or from men?”4
  5. Then among themselves they drew conclusions, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why is it YOU did not believe him?’5
  6. But if we say, ‘From men,’ the people one and all will stone us,6 for they are persuaded that John7 was a prophet.”8
  7. So they replied that they did not know its source.
  8. And Jesus said to them: “Neither am I telling YOU by what authority I do these things.”9
  9. ¶ Then he started to tell the people this illustration: “A man planted a vineyard10 and let it out to cultivators, and he traveled abroad for considerable time.11
  10. But in due season he sent out a slave12 to the cultivators,13 that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard.14 The cultivators, however, sent him away empty,15 after beating him up.
  11. But he repeated and sent them a different slave. That one also they beat up and dishonored and sent away empty.16
  12. Yet again he sent a third;17 this one also they wounded and threw out.
  13. At this the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son the beloved.18 Likely they will respect this one.’
  14. When the cultivators caught sight of him they went reasoning with one another, saying, ‘This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.’19
  15. With that they threw him outside20 the vineyard and killed21 him. What, therefore, will the owner of the vineyard do to them?22
  16. He will come and destroy these cultivators and will give the vineyard to others.”23
¶ On hearing [this] they said: “Never may that happen!”
  17. But he looked upon them and said: “What, then, does this that is written mean, ‘The stone which the builders rejected,24 this has become the chief cornerstone’?25
  18. Everyone falling upon that stone will be shattered.26 As for anyone upon whom it falls,27 it will pulverize him.”28
  19. ¶ The scribes and the chief priests now sought to get their hands on him in that very hour, but they feared the people; for they perceived that he spoke this illustration with them in mind.29
  20. And, after observing him closely, they sent out men secretly hired to pretend that they were righteous, in order that they might catch30 him in speech, so as to turn him over to the government and to the authority of the governor.31
  21. And they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, we know you speak and teach correctly and show no partiality, but you teach the way of God in line with truth:32
  22. Is it lawful for us to pay tax to Caesar[b] or not?”33
  23. But he detected their cunning and said to them:34
  24. “Show me a de·narʹi·us.[c] Whose image and inscription does it have?” They said: “Caesar’s.”35
  25. He said to them: “By all means, then, pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar,36 but God’s things to God.”37
  26. Well, they were not able to catch him in this saying before the people, but, in amazement at his answer, they said nothing.38
  27. ¶ However, some of the Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, came up39 and questioned him,
  28. saying: “Teacher, Moses40 wrote us, ‘If a man’s brother dies having a wife, but this one remained childless, his brother41 should take the wife and raise up offspring from her for his brother.’42
  29. Accordingly there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless.43
  30. So the second,
  31. and the third took her. Likewise even the seven: they did not leave children behind, but died off.44
  32. Lastly, the woman also died.45
  33. Consequently, in the resurrection,[d] of which one of them does she become [the] wife? For the seven got her as wife.”46
  34. ¶ Jesus said to them: “The children of this system of things[e] marry47 and are given in marriage,
  35. but those who have been counted worthy48 of gaining that system of things49 and the resurrection from the dead50 neither marry nor are given in marriage.
  36. In fact, neither can they die51 anymore, for they are like the angels, and they are God’s children[f] by being children of the resurrection.52
  37. But that the dead are raised up even Moses disclosed, in the account about the thornbush,53 when he calls Jehovah[g] ‘the God of Abraham[h] and God of Isaac and God of Jacob.’54
  38. He is a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him.”[i]55
  39. In response some of the scribes said: “Teacher, you spoke well.”
  40. For no longer did they have the courage to ask him a single question.
  41. ¶ In turn he said to them: “How is it they say that the Christ is David’s son?56
  42. For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘Jehovah[j] said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand
  43. until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.’57
  44. David, therefore, calls him ‘Lord’; so how is he his son?”
  45. ¶ Then, while all the people were listening he said to the disciples:58
  46. “Look out for the scribes who desire to walk around in robes and like greetings in the marketplaces[k] and front seats in the synagogues and most prominent places at evening meals,59
  47. and who devour the houses of the widows60 and for a pretext make long prayers. These will receive a heavier judgment.”61

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
