Chapter 12 of LukeNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ In the meantime, when the crowd had gathered together in so many thousands[a] that they were stepping upon one another, he started out by saying first to his disciples: “Watch out for the leaven1 of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.2
  2. But there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.3
  3. Wherefore what things YOU say in the darkness will be heard in the light,[b] and what YOU whisper[c] in private rooms will be preached from the housetops.4
  4. Moreover, I say to YOU, my friends,5 Do not fear those who kill the body and after this are not able to do anything more.6
  5. But I will indicate to YOU whom to fear: Fear him7 who after killing has authority to throw into Ge·henʹna.[d]8 Yes, I tell YOU, fear9 this One.
  6. Five sparrows sell for two coins of small value,[e] do they not? Yet not one of them goes forgotten before God.10
  7. But even the hairs11 of YOUR heads are all numbered. Have no fear; YOU are worth more than many sparrows.12
  8. ¶ “I say, then, to YOU, Everyone that confesses13 union with me before men, the Son of man will also confess union with him before the angels of God.14
  9. But he that disowns15 me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.16
  10. And everyone that says a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but he that blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven it.17
  11. But when they bring YOU in before public assemblies[f] and government officials and authorities, do not become anxious about how or what[g] YOU will speak in defense or what YOU will say;18
  12. for the holy spirit19 will teach YOU in that very hour the things YOU ought to say.”20
  13. ¶ Then a certain one of the crowd said to him: “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
  14. He said to him: “Man, who appointed me judge21 or apportioner[h] over YOU persons?”
  15. Then he said to them: “Keep YOUR eyes open and guard against every sort of covetousness,22 because even when a person has an abundance his life does not result from the things he possesses.”23
  16. With that he spoke an illustration to them, saying: “The land of a certain rich man produced well.
  17. Consequently he began reasoning within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, now that I have nowhere to gather my crops?’
  18. So he said, ‘I will do this:24 I will tear down my storehouses and build bigger ones, and there I will gather all my grain and all my good things;25
  19. and I will say26 to my soul: “Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, enjoy yourself.”’27
  20. But God said to him, ‘Unreasonable one, this night they are demanding your soul[i] from you.28 Who, then, is to have the things you stored up?’29
  21. So it goes with the man that lays up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.”30
  22. ¶ Then he said to his disciples: “On this account I say to YOU, Quit being anxious about YOUR souls as to what YOU will eat or about YOUR bodies as to what YOU will wear.31
  23. For the soul is worth more than food and the body than clothing.
  24. Mark well that the ravens32 neither sow seed nor reap, and they have neither barn nor storehouse, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more worth are YOU than birds?33
  25. Who of YOU by being anxious can add a cubit to his life span?34
  26. If, therefore, YOU cannot do the least thing, why be anxious35 about the remaining things?
  27. Mark well how the lilies grow;36 they neither toil nor spin; but I tell YOU, Not even Solʹo·mon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.37
  28. If, now, God thus clothes the vegetation in the field that today exists and tomorrow is cast into an oven, how much rather will he clothe YOU, YOU with little faith!38
  29. So quit seeking what YOU might eat and what YOU might drink, and quit being in anxious suspense;39
  30. for all these are the things the nations of the world are eagerly pursuing, but YOUR Father knows YOU need these things.40
  31. Nevertheless, seek continually his kingdom, and these things will be added to YOU.41
  32. ¶ “Have no fear,42 little flock,43 because YOUR Father has approved of giving YOU the kingdom.44
  33. Sell45 the things belonging to YOU and give gifts of mercy.46 Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, a never-failing treasure in the heavens,47 where a thief does not get near nor moth consumes.
  34. For where YOUR treasure is, there YOUR hearts will be also.48
  35. ¶ “Let YOUR loins49 be girded and YOUR lamps50 be burning,
  36. and YOU yourselves be like men waiting for their master51 when he returns[j] from the marriage,[k]52 so that at his arriving and knocking53 they may at once open to him.
  37. Happy are those slaves whom the master on arriving finds watching!54 Truly I say to YOU, He will gird55 himself and make them recline at the table and will come alongside and minister to them.56
  38. And if he arrives in the second watch,[l] even if in the third,[m] and finds them thus, happy are they!57
  39. But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have kept watching and not have let his house be broken into.58
  40. YOU also, keep ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think likely the Son of man is coming.”59
  41. ¶ Then Peter said: “Lord,[n] are you saying this illustration to us or also to all?”
  42. And the Lord said: “Who really is the faithful steward,[o]60 the discreet61 one, whom his master will appoint over his body of attendants to keep giving them their measure of food supplies at the proper time?62
  43. Happy is that slave, if his master on arriving finds him doing so!63
  44. I tell YOU truthfully, He will appoint him over all his belongings.64
  45. But if ever that slave should say in his heart, ‘My master delays coming,’65 and should start to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,66
  46. the master of that slave will come on a day that he is not expecting [him] and in an hour that he does not know,67 and he will punish him with the greatest severity[p] and assign him a part with the unfaithful ones.68
  47. Then that slave that understood the will of his master but did not get ready or do in line with his will will be beaten with many strokes.69
  48. But the one that did not understand70 and so did things deserving of strokes will be beaten with few.71 Indeed, everyone to whom much was given, much will be demanded72 of him; and the one whom people put in charge of much, they will demand more than usual of him.73
  49. ¶ “I came to start a fire74 on the earth, and what more is there for me to wish if it has already been lighted?
  50. Indeed, I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and how I am being distressed until it is finished!75
  51. Do YOU imagine I came to give peace on the earth? No, indeed, I tell YOU, but rather division.76
  52. For from now on there will be five in one house divided, three against two and two against three.77
  53. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against [her] mother, mother-in-law against [her] daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against [her] mother-in-law.”78
  54. ¶ Then he went on to say also to the crowds: “When YOU see a cloud rising in western parts, at once YOU say, ‘A storm is coming,’ and it turns out so.79
  55. And when YOU see that a south wind is blowing, YOU say, ‘There will be a heat wave,’ and it occurs.
  56. Hypocrites, YOU know how to examine the outward appearance of earth and sky, but how is it YOU do not know how to examine this particular time?80
  57. Why do YOU not judge also for yourselves what is righteous?81
  58. For example, when you are going with your adversary at law to a ruler, get to work, while on the way, to rid yourself of the dispute with him, that he may never hale you before the judge, and the judge deliver you to the court officer, and the court officer throw you into prison.82
  59. I tell you, You will certainly not get out from there until you pay over the last small coin of very little value.”[q]83

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
