Chapter 11 of LukeNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now on the occasion of his being in a certain place praying, when he stopped, a certain one of his disciples said to him: “Lord, teach us how to pray,1 just as John also taught his disciples.”2
  2. ¶ Then he said to them: “Whenever YOU pray,3 say, ‘Father, let your name be sanctified.[a]4 Let your kingdom come.5
  3. Give us our bread6 for the day according to the day’s requirement.
  4. And forgive us our sins,7 for we ourselves also forgive everyone that is in debt8 to us; and do not bring us into temptation.’”9
  5. ¶ Further, he said to them: “Who of YOU will have a friend and will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, loan me three loaves,
  6. because a friend of mine has just come to me on a journey and I have nothing to set before him’?
  7. And that one from inside says in reply, ‘Quit making me trouble.10 The door is already locked, and my young children are with me in bed; I cannot rise up and give you anything.’
  8. I tell YOU, Although he will not rise up and give him anything because of being his friend, certainly because of his bold persistence11 he will get up and give him what things he needs.
  9. Accordingly I say to YOU, Keep on asking,12 and it will be given YOU; keep on seeking,13 and YOU will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to YOU.
  10. For everyone asking receives,14 and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened.
  11. Indeed, which father is there among YOU who, if his son15 asks for a fish, will perhaps hand him a serpent instead of a fish?
  12. Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion?
  13. Therefore, if YOU, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to YOUR children,16 how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit17 to those asking him!”
  14. ¶ Later he was expelling a dumb18 demon. After the demon came out, the dumb man spoke. And the crowds marveled.
  15. But certain ones of them said: “He expels the demons by means of Be·elʹze·bub[b] the ruler of the demons.”19
  16. However, others, to tempt him, began seeking a sign20 out of heaven from him.
  17. Knowing their imaginations21 he said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself comes to desolation, and a house [divided] against itself falls.22
  18. So if Satan is also divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?23 Because YOU say I expel the demons by means of Be·elʹze·bub.
  19. If it is by means of Be·elʹze·bub I expel the demons, by whom do YOUR sons24 expel them? Because of this they will be judges of YOU.
  20. But if it is by means of God’s finger25 I expel the demons, the kingdom of God has really overtaken YOU.26
  21. When a strong man,27 well armed, guards his palace, his belongings continue in peace.
  22. But when someone stronger28 than he is comes against him and conquers him,29 he takes away his full armament in which he was trusting, and he divides out the things he despoiled him of.
  23. He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.30
  24. ¶ “When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through parched places in search of a resting-place, and, after finding none, it says, ‘I will return to my house out of which I moved.’31
  25. And on arriving it finds it swept clean[c] and adorned.
  26. Then it goes its way and takes along seven32 different[d] spirits more wicked than itself, and, after getting inside, they dwell there; and the final circumstances of that man become worse than the first.”33
  27. ¶ Now as he was saying these things a certain woman out of the crowd raised her voice and said to him: “Happy is the womb34 that carried you and the breasts that you sucked!”
  28. But he said: “No, rather, Happy are those hearing the word of God and keeping it!”35
  29. ¶ When the crowds were massing together, he started to say: “This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign.36 But no sign will be given it except the sign of Joʹnah.37
  30. For just as Joʹnah38 became a sign to the Ninʹe·vites, in the same way will the Son of man be also to this generation.
  31. The queen39 of the south will be raised up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them; because she came from the ends[e] of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solʹo·mon, but, look! something more40 than Solʹo·mon is here.
  32. The men of Ninʹe·veh will rise in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; because they repented at what Joʹnah preached;41 but, look! something more42 than Joʹnah is here.
  33. After lighting a lamp, a person puts it, not in a vault nor under a measuring basket, but upon the lampstand,43 that those stepping in may behold the light.
  34. The lamp of the body is your eye. When your eye is simple,[f] your whole body is also bright;44 but when it is wicked,[g] your body is also dark.
  35. Be alert, therefore. Perhaps the light that is in you is darkness.45
  36. Therefore, if your whole body is bright with no part at all dark, it will all be as bright46 as when a lamp gives you light by its rays.”
  37. ¶ When he had spoken this, a Pharisee requested him to dine47 with him. So he went in and reclined at the table.
  38. However, the Pharisee was surprised at seeing that he did not first wash[h]48 before the dinner.
  39. But the Lord said to him: “Now YOU Pharisees, YOU cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but the inside49 of YOU is full of plunder and wickedness.50
  40. Unreasonable persons! He that made the outside51 made also the inside, did he not?
  41. Nevertheless, give as gifts of mercy52 the things that are inside, and, look! all [other] things are clean about YOU.[i]
  42. But woe to YOU Pharisees, because YOU give the tenth53 of the mint and the rue and of every [other] vegetable, but YOU pass by the justice[j] and the love of God! These things YOU were under obligation to do, but those other things not to omit.54
  43. Woe to YOU Pharisees, because YOU love the front seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces![k]55
  44. Woe to YOU, because YOU are as those memorial tombs which are not in evidence, so that men walk upon them and do not know [it]!”56
  45. ¶ In answer a certain one of those versed57 in the Law said to him: “Teacher, in saying these things you also insult us.”
  46. Then he said: “Woe also to YOU who are versed in the Law, because YOU load men with loads hard to be borne, but YOU yourselves do not touch the loads with one of YOUR fingers!58
  47. ¶ “Woe to YOU, because YOU build the memorial tombs of the prophets, but YOUR forefathers killed them!59
  48. Certainly YOU are witnesses of the deeds of YOUR forefathers and yet YOU give consent60 to them, because these killed61 the prophets[l] but YOU are building [their tombs].
  49. On this account the wisdom62 of God also said, ‘I will send forth to them prophets and apostles, and they will kill and persecute some of them,
  50. so that the blood of all the prophets63 spilled from the founding[m] of the world may be required from this generation,64
  51. from the blood of Abel65 down to the blood of Zech·a·riʹah,66 who was slain between the altar and the house.’67 Yes, I tell YOU, it will be required from this generation.
  52. ¶ “Woe to YOU who are versed in the Law, because YOU took away the key of knowledge;68 YOU yourselves did not go in, and those going in YOU hindered!”69
  53. ¶ So when he went out from there the scribes and the Pharisees started in to press upon him terribly and to ply him with questions about further things,
  54. lying in wait70 for him, to catch71 something out of his mouth.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
