Chapter 26 of Leviticus—New World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “‘YOU must not make valueless gods[a] for yourselves,1 and YOU must not set up a carved image2 or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and YOU must not put a stone as a showpiece3 in YOUR land in order to bow down toward it;4 for I am Jehovah YOUR God.
  2. YOU should keep my sabbaths5 and stand in awe of my sanctuary. I am Jehovah.
  3. ¶ “‘If YOU continue walking in my statutes and keeping my commandments and YOU do carry them out,6
  4. I shall also certainly give YOUR showers of rain at their proper time,7 and the land will indeed give its yield,8 and the tree of the field will give its fruit.9
  5. And YOUR threshing will certainly reach to YOUR grape gathering, and the grape gathering will reach to the sowing of seed; and YOU will indeed eat YOUR bread to satisfaction10 and dwell in security in YOUR land.11
  6. And I will put peace in the land,12 and YOU will indeed lie down, with no one making [YOU] tremble;13 and I will make the injurious wild beast cease out of the land,14 and a sword will not pass through YOUR land.15
  7. And YOU will certainly chase YOUR enemies,16 and they will indeed fall before YOU by the sword.
  8. And five of YOU will certainly chase a hundred, and a hundred of YOU will chase ten thousand, and YOUR enemies will indeed fall before YOU by the sword.17
  9. ¶ “‘And I will turn myself to YOU18 and make YOU fruitful and multiply YOU,19 and I will carry out my covenant with YOU.20
  10. And YOU will certainly eat the old of the preceding year,21 and YOU will bring out the old ahead of the new.
  11. And I shall certainly put my tabernacle in the midst of YOU,22 and my soul will not abhor YOU.23
  12. And I shall indeed walk in the midst of YOU and prove myself YOUR God,24 and YOU, on YOUR part, will prove yourselves my people.25
  13. I am Jehovah YOUR God, who brought YOU out of the land of Egypt from acting as slaves to them,26 and I proceeded to break the bars of YOUR yoke and make YOU walk erect.27
  14. ¶ “‘However, if YOU will not listen to me nor do all these commandments,28
  15. and if YOU will reject my statutes,29 and if YOUR souls will abhor my judicial decisions so as not to do all my commandments, to the extent of YOUR violating my covenant,30
  16. then I, for my part, shall do the following to YOU, and in punishment I shall certainly bring upon YOU disturbance with tuberculosis31 and burning fever, causing the eyes to fail32 and making the soul pine away.33 And YOU will simply sow YOUR seed for nothing, as YOUR enemies will certainly eat it up.34
  17. And I shall indeed set my face against YOU, and YOU will certainly be defeated before YOUR enemies;35 and those who hate YOU will just tread down upon YOU,36 and YOU will actually flee when no one is pursuing YOU.37
  18. ¶ “‘If, though, despite these things, YOU will not listen to me, I shall then have to chastise YOU seven times as much[b] for YOUR sins.38
  19. And I shall have to break the pride of YOUR strength and make YOUR heavens like iron39 and YOUR earth like copper.
  20. And YOUR power will simply be expended for nothing, as YOUR earth will not give its yield,40 and the tree of the earth will not give its fruit.41
  21. ¶ “‘But if YOU keep walking in opposition to me and not wishing to listen to me, I shall then have to inflict seven times more blows upon YOU according to YOUR sins.42
  22. And I will send the wild beasts of the field among YOU,43 and they will certainly bereave YOU of children44 and cut off YOUR domestic animals and reduce the number of YOU, and YOUR roads will actually be desolated.45
  23. ¶ “‘Nevertheless, if with these things YOU do not let yourselves be corrected by me46 and YOU just have to walk in opposition to me,
  24. I, yes, I, shall then have to walk in opposition to YOU;47 and I, even I, shall have to strike YOU seven times for YOUR sins.48
  25. And I shall certainly bring upon YOU a sword wreaking vengeance49 for the covenant;50 and YOU will indeed gather yourselves into YOUR cities, and I shall certainly send pestilence into the midst of YOU,51 and YOU must be given into the hand of an enemy.52
  26. When I have broken for YOU the rods around which ring-shaped loaves are suspended,[c]53 ten women will then actually bake YOUR bread in but one oven and give back YOUR bread by weight;54 and YOU must eat but YOU will not be satisfied.55
  27. ¶ “‘If, however, with this YOU will not listen to me and YOU just must walk in opposition to me,56
  28. I shall then have to walk in heated opposition to YOU,57 and I, yes, I, shall have to chastise YOU seven times for YOUR sins.58
  29. So YOU will have to eat the flesh of YOUR sons, and YOU will eat the flesh of YOUR daughters.59
  30. And I shall certainly annihilate YOUR sacred high places60 and cut off YOUR incense stands and lay YOUR own carcasses upon the carcasses of YOUR dungy idols;61 and my soul will simply abhor YOU.62
  31. And I shall indeed give YOUR cities to the sword63 and lay YOUR sanctuaries[d] desolate,64 and I shall not smell YOUR restful odors.65
  32. And I, for my part, will lay the land desolate,66 and YOUR enemies who are dwelling in it will simply stare in amazement over it.67
  33. And YOU I shall scatter among the nations,68 and I will unsheathe a sword after YOU;69 and YOUR land must become a desolation,70 and YOUR cities will become a desolate ruin.
  34. ¶ “‘At that time the land will pay off its sabbaths all the days of its lying desolated, while YOU are in the land of YOUR enemies. At that time the land will keep sabbath, as it must repay its sabbaths.71
  35. All the days of its lying desolated it will keep sabbath, for the reason that it did not keep sabbath during YOUR sabbaths when YOU were dwelling upon it.
  36. ¶ “‘As for those remaining among YOU,72 I shall certainly bring timidity into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a leaf driven about will indeed chase them away, and they will actually flee as in flight from a sword and fall without anyone chasing.73
  37. And they will certainly stumble against one another as if from before a sword without anyone chasing, and for YOU there will prove to be no ability to stand [in resistance] before YOUR enemies.74
  38. And YOU must perish among the nations,75 and the land of YOUR enemies must eat YOU up.
  39. As for those remaining among YOU, they will rot away76 because of their error in the lands of YOUR enemies. Yes, even because of the errors of their fathers,77 with them they will rot away.
  40. And they will certainly confess their own error78 and the error of their fathers in their unfaithfulness when they behaved unfaithfully toward me, yes, even when they walked in opposition to me.79
  41. Yet I, for my part, proceeded to walk in opposition to them,80 and I had to bring them into the land of their enemies.81
    ¶ “‘Perhaps[e] at that time their uncircumcised heart82 will be humbled,83 and at that time they will pay off their error.
  42. And I shall indeed remember my covenant with Jacob;84 and even my covenant with Isaac85 and even my covenant with Abraham86 I shall remember, and the land I shall remember.
  43. All the while the land was left abandoned by them and was paying off its sabbaths87 while it was lying desolated without them and they themselves were paying for their error,88 because, even because,[f] they had rejected my judicial decisions,89 and their souls had abhorred my statutes.90
  44. And yet for all this, while they continue in the land of their enemies, I shall certainly not reject them91 nor abhor them92 so as to exterminate them, to violate my covenant93 with them; for I am Jehovah their God.
  45. And I will remember in their behalf the covenant of the ancestors94 whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt under the eyes of the nations,95 in order to prove myself their God. I am Jehovah.’”
  46. ¶ These are the regulations and the judicial decisions96 and the laws that Jehovah set between himself and the sons of Israel in Mount Siʹnai by means of Moses.97

    The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

    Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things,and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

    The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

      Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

      Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

    Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

      Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

      Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

      I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

      I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

      What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

      We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

      Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

      Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
