Chapter 4 of JudgesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Then the sons of Israel again began to do what was bad in Jehovah’s eyes now that Eʹhud was dead.1
  2. So Jehovah sold2 them into the hand of Jaʹbin the king of Caʹnaan, who reigned in Haʹzor;3 and the chief[a] of his army was Sisʹe·ra,4 and he was dwelling in Ha·roʹsheth5 of the nations.[b]
  3. And the sons of Israel began to cry out to Jehovah,6 because he had nine hundred war chariots with iron scythes,[c]7 and he himself oppressed the sons of Israel8 with harshness twenty years.
  4. ¶ Now Debʹo·rah,[d] a prophetess,9 the wife of Lapʹpi·doth, was judging Israel at that particular time.
  5. And she was dwelling under Debʹo·rah’s palm tree between Raʹmah10 and Bethʹel11 in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im; and the sons of Israel would go up to her for judgment.
  6. And she proceeded to send and call Baʹrak12 the son of A·binʹo·am out of Keʹdesh-naphʹta·li13 and to say to him: “Has not Jehovah the God of Israel given the command? ‘Go and you must spread yourself out on Mount Taʹbor,14 and you must take with you ten thousand men out of the sons of Naphʹta·li15 and out of the sons of Zebʹu·lun.16
  7. And I shall certainly draw to you17 at the torrent valley of Kiʹshon18 Sisʹe·ra19 the chief of Jaʹbin’s20 army and his war chariots and his crowd, and I shall indeed give him into your hand.’”21
  8. ¶ At this Baʹrak said to her: “If you will go with me, I also shall certainly go; but if you will not go with me, I shall not go.”
  9. To this she said: “Without fail I shall go with you. Just the same, the beautifying thing will not become yours on the way that you are going, for it will be into the hand of a woman22 that Jehovah will sell[e] Sisʹe·ra.” With that Debʹo·rah got up and went with Baʹrak to Keʹdesh.23
  10. And Baʹrak began to call Zebʹu·lun24 and Naphʹta·li together to Keʹdesh, and ten thousand men went on up following his steps;25 and Debʹo·rah went on up with him.
  11. ¶ Incidentally Heʹber26 the Kenʹite had separated from the Kenʹites,27 the sons of Hoʹbab, whose son-in-law Moses was,[f]28 and he had his tent pitched near the big tree in Za·a·nanʹnim, which is at Keʹdesh.
  12. ¶ Then they reported to Sisʹe·ra that Baʹrak the son of A·binʹo·am29 had gone up to Mount Taʹbor.30
  13. At once Sisʹe·ra called together all his war chariots, the nine hundred war chariots with iron scythes,31 and all the people that were with him, out of Ha·roʹsheth of the nations to the torrent valley of Kiʹshon.32
  14. Debʹo·rah now said to Baʹrak: “Get up, for this is the day that Jehovah will certainly give Sisʹe·ra into your hand. Is it not Jehovah that has gone out before you?”33 And Baʹrak went descending from Mount Taʹbor with ten thousand men behind him.
  15. And Jehovah began to throw Sisʹe·ra and all his war chariots and all the camp into confusion34 by the edge of the sword before Baʹrak. Finally Sisʹe·ra got down off the chariot and took to flight on foot.
  16. And Baʹrak chased after35 the war chariots36 and the camp as far as Ha·roʹsheth of the nations, so that all the camp of Sisʹe·ra fell by the edge of the sword. Not as much as one remained.37
  17. ¶ As for Sisʹe·ra,38 he fled on foot to the tent of Jaʹel39 the wife of Heʹber the Kenʹite,40 for there was peace between Jaʹbin the king of Haʹzor41 and the household of Heʹber the Kenʹite.
  18. Then Jaʹel came on out to meet Sisʹe·ra and said to him: “Turn this way, my lord, turn this way to me. Do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent. Later she covered him with a blanket.
  19. In time he said to her: “Give me, please, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” Accordingly she opened a skin bottle42 of milk and gave him a drink,43 after which she covered him.
  20. And he went on to say to her: “Stand at the entrance of the tent, and it must occur that if anybody comes and does ask you and says, ‘Is there a man here?’ you must then say, ‘No!’”
  21. ¶ And Jaʹel the wife of Heʹber proceeded to take a pin of the tent and to put the hammer into her hand. Then she went to him stealthily and drove the pin into his temples44 and beat it into the earth, while he was fast asleep[g] and weary. So he died.45
  22. ¶ And, look! there was Baʹrak pursuing Sisʹe·ra. Jaʹel now came on out to meet him and said to him: “Come and I shall show you the man you are looking for.” So in he went to her, and, look! there was Sisʹe·ra fallen dead, with the pin in his temples.
  23. ¶ Thus God subdued46 Jaʹbin the king of Caʹnaan before the sons of Israel on that day.
  24. And the hand of the sons of Israel went on getting harder and harder against Jaʹbin the king of Caʹnaan,47 until they had cut off Jaʹbin the king48 of Caʹnaan.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
