Chapter 2 of JudgesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Then Jehovah’s angel1 went up from Gilʹgal2 to Boʹchim3 and said: “I proceeded to bring YOU up out of Egypt and to bring YOU into the land about which I swore[a] to YOUR forefathers.4 Furthermore, I said, ‘Never shall I break my covenant with YOU.5
  2. And for YOUR part, YOU must not conclude a covenant with the inhabitants of this land.6 Their altars YOU should pull down.’7 But YOU have not listened to my voice.8 Why have YOU done this?9
  3. So I, in turn, have said, ‘I shall not drive them away from before YOU, and they must become snares to YOU,10 and their gods will serve as a lure to YOU.’”11
  4. ¶ And it came about that as soon as Jehovah’s angel had spoken these words to all the sons of Israel, the people began to raise their voices and weep.12
  5. Hence they called the name of that place Boʹchim.[b] And they proceeded to sacrifice there to Jehovah.
  6. ¶ When Joshua sent the people away, then the sons of Israel went their way, each to his inheritance, to take possession of the land.13
  7. And the people continued to serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua and all the days of the older men[c] who extended their days after Joshua[d] and who had seen all of Jehovah’s great work that he did for Israel.14
  8. Then Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, died at the age of a hundred and ten years.15
  9. So they buried him in the territory of his inheritance in Timʹnath-heʹres[e]16 in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im, on the north of Mount Gaʹash.17
  10. And all that generation too were gathered to their fathers,18 and another generation began to rise after them that did not know Jehovah or the work that he had done for Israel.19
  11. ¶ And the sons of Israel fell to doing what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah20 and serving[f] the Baʹals.21
  12. Thus they abandoned Jehovah the God of their fathers who had brought them out of the land of Egypt22 and went following other gods from among the gods of the peoples who were all around them23 and they began bowing down to them, so that they offended Jehovah.24
  13. Thus they abandoned Jehovah and took up serving Baʹal and the Ashʹto·reth25 images.[g]
  14. At this Jehovah’s anger blazed against Israel,26 so that he gave them into the hands of the pillagers, and they began to pillage them;27 and he proceeded to sell[h] them into the hand of their enemies round about,28 and they were no longer able to stand before their enemies.29
  15. Everywhere that they went out, the hand of Jehovah proved to be against them for calamity,30 just as Jehovah had spoken and just as Jehovah had sworn to them;31 and they got to be in very sore straits.32
  16. So Jehovah would raise up judges,33 and they would save them out of the hand of their pillagers.34
  17. ¶ And even to their judges they did not listen, but they had immoral intercourse[i]35 with other gods36 and went bowing down to them. They quickly turned aside from the way in which their forefathers had walked by obeying the commandments of Jehovah.37 They did not do like that.
  18. And when Jehovah did raise up judges38 for them, Jehovah proved to be with the judge, and he saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for Jehovah would feel regret39 over their groaning because of their oppressors40 and those who were shoving them around.
  19. ¶ And it occurred that when the judge died they would turn around and act more ruinously than their fathers by walking after other gods to serve them and bow down to them.41 They did not refrain from their practices and their stubborn behavior.42
  20. Finally Jehovah’s anger blazed43 against Israel and he said: “For the reason that this nation have overstepped my covenant44 that I commanded their forefathers and have not listened to my voice,45
  21. I too, for my part, shall not drive out again from before them a single one of the nations that Joshua left behind when he died,46
  22. in order by them to test47 Israel, whether they will be keepers of Jehovah’s way by walking in it just as their fathers kept it, or not.”
  23. Accordingly Jehovah let these nations stay by not driving them out quickly,48 and he did not give them into Joshua’s hand.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
