Chapter 19 of JudgesNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now it happened in those days that there was no king in Israel.1 And it came about that a certain Levite was residing for a time in the remotest parts of the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im.2 In time he took as his wife a concubine3 from Bethʹle·hem4 in Judah.
  2. And his concubine began to commit fornication[a]5 against him.[b] Finally she went away from him to the house of her father at Bethʹle·hem in Judah and continued there fully four months.
  3. Then her husband got up and went after her to speak consolingly to her[c] so as to bring her back; and there were with him his attendant[d]6 and a couple of he-asses. So she had him come into her father’s house. When the father of the young woman got to see him, he at once rejoiced to meet him.
  4. Consequently his father-in-law, the young woman’s father, took hold of him, so that he continued to dwell with him three days; and they would eat and drink, and he[e] would stay overnight there.7
  5. ¶ And it came about on the fourth day, when they got up early in the morning as usual, he now rose to go, but the father of the young woman said to his son-in-law: “Sustain your heart with a bit of bread8 and afterward YOU people may go.”
  6. So they sat down, and both of them began to eat and to drink together; after which the father of the young woman said to the man: “Come on, please, and stay overnight,9 and let your heart feel good.”10
  7. When the man rose to go, his father-in-law kept begging him, so that he stayed overnight there again.11
  8. ¶ When he got up early in the morning on the fifth day to go, the father of the young woman then said: “Please, take sustenance for your heart.”12 And they lingered until the fading away of the day. And both of them kept eating.
  9. The man13 now rose to go, he and his concubine14 and his attendant;15 but his father-in-law, the young woman’s father, said to him: “Look, now! The day has declined toward becoming evening. Please, STAY overnight.16 Here the day is settling down. Stay here overnight, and let your heart feel good.17 And tomorrow YOU people must get up early for YOUR journey, and you must go to your tent.”
  10. However, the man did not consent to stay overnight, but he rose and got on his way and came as far as in front of Jeʹbus,18 that is to say, Jerusalem;19 and with him there were the couple of he-asses saddled up, and his concubine and his attendant.[f]
  11. ¶ While they were close by Jeʹbus, as the daylight had gone down considerably,20 the attendant now said to his master:[g] “O come, now, and let us turn aside to this city of the Jebʹu·sites21 and stay in it overnight.”
  12. But his master said to him: “Let us not turn aside to a city of foreigners22 who are no part of the sons of Israel; and we have to pass on as far as Gibʹe·ah.”23
  13. And he went on to say to his attendant: “Come and let us approach one of the places, and we must stay overnight either in Gibʹe·ah or in Raʹmah.”24
  14. So they passed along and kept on their way, and the sun began to set upon them when near to Gibʹe·ah, which belongs to Benjamin.
  15. ¶ Consequently they turned aside there to go in to stay overnight in Gibʹe·ah. And they[h] proceeded to go in and sit down in the public square of the city, and there was nobody taking them on into the house to stay overnight.25
  16. Eventually, look! an old man coming in from his work in the field at evening,26 and the man was from the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im,27 and he was residing for a time in Gibʹe·ah; but the men of the place were Benʹja·mites.28
  17. When he raised his eyes he got to see the man, the traveler, in the public square of the city. So the old man said: “Where are you going, and where do you come from?”29
  18. In turn he said to him: “We are passing along from Bethʹle·hem in Judah to the remotest parts of the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im.30 That is where I am from, but I went to Bethʹle·hem in Judah;31 and it is to my own house[i] that I am going, and there is nobody taking me on into the house.32
  19. And there are both straw and fodder33 for our he-asses, and there are both bread34 and wine for me and your slave girl35 and for the attendant36 with your servant.[j] There is no lack of a single thing.”
  20. However, the old man said: “May you have peace![k]37 Just let any lack of yours be upon me.38 Only do not stay overnight in the public square.”
  21. With that he brought him into his house39 and threw mash to the he-asses.40 Then they washed their feet41 and began to eat and drink.
  22. ¶ While they were making their hearts feel good,42 look! the men of the city, mere good-for-nothing men,[l]43 surrounded the house,44 shoving one another against the door; and they kept saying to the old man, the owner of the house: “Bring out the man that came into your house, that we may have intercourse with him.”45
  23. At that the owner of the house went on out to them and said to them:46 “No, my brothers,47 do not do anything wrong, please, since this man has come into my house. Do not commit this disgraceful folly.48
  24. Here are my virgin daughter and his concubine. Let me bring them out, please, and YOU rape them49 and do to them what is good in YOUR eyes. But to this man YOU must not do this disgraceful, foolish thing.”
  25. ¶ And the men did not want to listen to him. Hence the man took hold of his concubine50 and brought her forth to them outside; and they began to have intercourse with her,51 and kept on abusing52 her all night long until the morning, after which they sent her off at the ascending of the dawn.
  26. Then the woman came as it was turning to morning, and fell down at the entrance of the man’s house where her master was,53—until daylight.
  27. Later her master rose up in the morning and opened the doors of the house and went out to get on his way, and, look! the woman, his concubine,54 fallen at the entrance of the house with her hands upon the threshold!
  28. So he said to her: “Rise up, and let us go.” But there was no one answering.55 At that the man took her upon the ass and rose up and went to his place.56
  29. ¶ Then he entered his house and took the slaughtering knife and laid hold of his concubine and cut her up according to her bones into twelve pieces57 and sent her into every territory of Israel.58
  30. And it occurred that everybody seeing it said: “Such a thing as this has never been brought about or been seen from the day that the sons of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt down to this day. Set YOUR hearts[m] upon it, take counsel59 and speak.”

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
