Chapter 24 of JoshuaNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And Joshua proceeded to assemble all the tribes of Israel together at Sheʹchem[a]1 and to call the older men of Israel2 and its heads and its judges and its officers, and they went taking their stand before the [true] God.3
  2. And Joshua went on to say to all the people: “This is what Jehovah the God of Israel has said, ‘It was on the other side of the River[b]4 that YOUR forefathers5 dwelt a long time ago, Teʹrah the father of Abraham and the father of Naʹhor,6 and they used to serve[c] other gods.[d]
  3. ¶ “‘In time I took YOUR forefather Abraham7 from the other side of the River8 and had him walk through all the land of Caʹnaan and made his seed[e] many.9 So I gave him Isaac.10
  4. Then to Isaac I gave Jacob and Eʹsau.11 Later to Eʹsau I gave Mount Seʹir to take possession of it;12 and Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.13
  5. Later on I sent Moses and Aaron,14 and I went plaguing Egypt with what[f] I did in its midst;15 and afterward I brought YOU out.16
  6. When I was bringing YOUR fathers out of Egypt17 and YOU came to the sea, then the Egyptians went chasing18 after YOUR fathers with war chariots and cavalrymen to the Red Sea.
  7. And they began to cry out to Jehovah.19 So he placed a darkness between YOU and the Egyptians20 and brought the sea upon them and covered them,21 and YOUR eyes got to see what I did in Egypt;22 and YOU took up dwelling in the wilderness many days.23
  8. ¶ “‘Eventually I brought YOU to the land of the Amʹor·ites who were dwelling on the other side of the Jordan, and they went fighting against YOU.24 At that I gave them into YOUR hand that YOU might take possession of their land, and I annihilated them from before YOU.25
  9. Then Baʹlak the son of Zipʹpor,26 the king of Moʹab, got up and went fighting against Israel.27 So he sent and summoned Baʹlaam the son of Beʹor to call down evil upon YOU.28
  10. And I did not want to listen to Baʹlaam.29 Consequently he blessed YOU repeatedly.30 Thus I delivered YOU out of his hand.31
  11. ¶ “‘Then YOU went crossing the Jordan32 and came to Jerʹi·cho.33 And the landowners[g] of Jerʹi·cho, the Amʹor·ites and the Perʹiz·zites and the Caʹnaan·ites and the Hitʹtites and the Girʹga·shites, the Hiʹvites and the Jebʹu·sites began fighting against YOU; but I gave them into YOUR hand.34
  12. So I sent the feeling of dejection[h] ahead of YOU, and it gradually drove them out before YOU35—two kings of the Amʹor·ites—not with your sword and not with your bow.36
  13. Thus I gave YOU a land for which YOU had not toiled and cities that YOU had not built,37 and YOU took up dwelling in them. Vineyards and olive groves that YOU did not plant are what YOU are eating.’38
  14. ¶ “And now fear Jehovah39 and serve him in faultlessness and in truth,40 and remove the gods that YOUR forefathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt,41 and serve Jehovah.
  15. Now if it is bad in YOUR eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom YOU will serve,42 whether the gods that YOUR forefathers who were on the other side of the River[i] served43 or the gods of the Amʹor·ites in whose land YOU are dwelling.44 But as for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah.”45
  16. ¶ At this the people answered and said: “It is unthinkable, on our part, to leave Jehovah so as to serve other gods.
  17. For it is Jehovah our God who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt,46 out of the house of slaves,47 and who performed these great signs before our eyes48 and who kept guarding us in all the way in which we walked and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed.49
  18. And Jehovah proceeded to drive out all the peoples,50 even the Amʹor·ites, dwelling in the land from before us. As for us, too, we shall serve Jehovah, because he is our God.”51
  19. ¶ Then Joshua said to the people: “YOU are not able to serve Jehovah, for he is a holy God;[j]52 he is a God[k] exacting exclusive devotion.53 He will not pardon YOUR revolting and YOUR sins.54
  20. In case YOU should leave Jehovah55 and YOU do serve foreign gods,[l]56 he also will certainly turn back and do YOU injury and exterminate YOU after he has done YOU good.”57
  21. ¶ In turn the people said to Joshua: “No, but Jehovah we shall serve!”58
  22. At this Joshua said to the people: “YOU are witnesses against yourselves59 that YOU of YOUR own accord have chosen Jehovah for yourselves, to serve him.”60 To this they said: “We are witnesses.”
  23. ¶ “And now remove the foreign gods that are among YOU,61 and incline YOUR hearts to Jehovah the God of Israel.”
  24. In turn the people said to Joshua: “Jehovah our God we shall serve, and to his voice we shall listen!”62
  25. ¶ And Joshua proceeded to conclude a covenant with the people on that day and to constitute for them a regulation and judicial decision63 in Sheʹchem.[m]
  26. Then Joshua wrote these words in the book of God’s law64 and took a great stone65 and set it up there under the massive tree66 that is by the sanctuary of Jehovah.
  27. ¶ And Joshua went on to say to all the people: “Look! This stone is what will serve as a witness against us,67 because it has itself heard all the sayings of Jehovah that he has spoken with us, and it must serve as a witness against YOU, that YOU may not deny YOUR God.”
  28. With that Joshua sent the people away, each one to his inheritance.68
  29. ¶ And it came about that after these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, gradually died at the age of a hundred and ten years.69
  30. So they buried him in the territory of his inheritance in Timʹnath-seʹrah,70 which is in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im, north of Mount Gaʹash.
  31. And Israel continued to serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua and all the days of the older men who extended their days after Joshua71 and who had known all the work of Jehovah that he did for Israel.72
  32. ¶ And Joseph’s bones,73 which the sons of Israel had brought up out of Egypt, they buried in Sheʹchem in the tract of the field that Jacob had acquired from the sons of Haʹmor,74 Sheʹchem’s father, for a hundred pieces of money;[n]75 and it[o] came to belong to the sons of Joseph as an inheritance.76
  33. ¶ Also, El·e·aʹzar the son of Aaron died.77 So they buried him in the Hill of Phinʹe·has[p] his son,78 which he had given him in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
