Chapter 23 of JoshuaNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And it came about many days after Jehovah had given Israel rest1 from all their enemies all around, when Joshua was old and advanced in days,2
  2. that Joshua proceeded to call all Israel,3 its older men and its heads and its judges and its officers,4 and to say to them: “As for me, I have grown old, I have advanced in days.
  3. And as for YOU, YOU have seen all that Jehovah YOUR God did to all these nations on YOUR account,5 because Jehovah YOUR God was the one who was fighting for YOU.6
  4. See, I assigned to YOU by lot[a]7 these nations that remain as an inheritance for YOUR tribes, and all the nations that I cut off,8 from the Jordan[b] to the Great Sea at the setting of the sun.9
  5. And Jehovah YOUR God was the one who kept pushing them away from before YOU,10 and he dispossessed them on YOUR account, and YOU took possession of their land, just as Jehovah YOUR God had promised YOU.11
  6. ¶ “And YOU must be very courageous12 to keep and to do all that is written in the book13 of the law of Moses by never turning away from it to the right or to the left,14
  7. by never going in among these nations,15 these that remain with YOU. And YOU must not mention the names of their gods16 nor swear by them,17 neither must YOU serve them nor bow down to them.18
  8. But it is to Jehovah YOUR God that YOU should cleave,19 just as YOU have done down to this day.
  9. And Jehovah will drive away great and mighty nations from before YOU.20 (As for YOU, not a man has stood before YOU down to this day.)21
  10. Just one man of YOU will chase a thousand,22 because Jehovah YOUR God is the one who is fighting for YOU,23 just as he has promised YOU.24
  11. And YOU must be on constant guard25 for YOUR souls[c] by loving Jehovah YOUR God.26
  12. ¶ “But if YOU should turn back at all27 and YOU do cleave to what is left of these nations,28 these that remain with YOU, and YOU do form marriage alliances29 with them and go in among them, and they among YOU,
  13. YOU should positively know that Jehovah YOUR God will not continue to dispossess these nations on YOUR account;30 and they must become to YOU as a trap and as a snare and as a scourge on YOUR flanks31 and as thorns in YOUR eyes until YOU have perished off this good ground that Jehovah YOUR God has given YOU.32
  14. ¶ “Now, look! I am going today in the way of all the earth,33 and YOU well know with all YOUR hearts and with all YOUR souls that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has failed. They have all come true for YOU. Not one word of them has failed.34
  15. And it must occur that, just as all the good word that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has come upon YOU,35 so Jehovah will bring upon YOU all the evil word until he has annihilated YOU from off this good ground that Jehovah YOUR God has given YOU,36
  16. because of YOUR overstepping the covenant of Jehovah YOUR God that he commanded YOU, and because YOU have gone and served other gods and bowed down to them.37 And Jehovah’s anger will certainly blaze against YOU,38 and YOU will certainly perish in a hurry from off the good land that he has given YOU.”39

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
