Chapter 21 of JoshuaNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ The heads of the fathers of the Levites now approached El·e·aʹzar1 the priest and Joshua2 the son of Nun and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel,
  2. and they proceeded to speak to them in Shiʹloh3 in the land of Caʹnaan, saying: “Jehovah by means of Moses commanded cities to be given us in which to dwell, together with their pasture grounds for our domestic animals.”4
  3. So the sons of Israel gave the Levites,5 at the order of Jehovah, these cities and their pasture grounds out of their inheritance.6
  4. ¶ Then the lot came out for the families of the Koʹhath·ites,7 and thirteen cities came to belong to the sons of Aaron the priest, of the Levites, by lot, out of the tribe of Judah8 and out of the tribe of the Simʹe·on·ites9 and out of the tribe of Benjamin.10
  5. ¶ And for the sons of Koʹhath11 that were left over there were by lot ten cities out of the families of the tribe[a] of Eʹphra·im12 and out of the tribe of Dan13 and out of the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh.14
  6. ¶ And for the sons of Gerʹshon15 there were by lot thirteen cities out of the families of the tribe of Isʹsa·char16 and out of the tribe of Ashʹer17 and out of the tribe of Naphʹta·li18 and out of the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh in Baʹshan.19
  7. ¶ For the sons of Me·rarʹi20 by their families there were twelve cities out of the tribe of Reuʹben21 and out of the tribe of Gad22 and out of the tribe of Zebʹu·lun.23
  8. ¶ Thus the sons of Israel gave the Levites these cities and their pasture grounds24 by lot,25 just as Jehovah had commanded by means of Moses.26
  9. ¶ So out of the tribe of the sons of Judah and out of the tribe of the sons of Simʹe·on they gave these cities that were called by name,27
  10. and they came to belong to the sons of Aaron out of the families of the Koʹhath·ites of the sons of Leʹvi, because the first lot became theirs.28
  11. Thus they gave them Kirʹi·ath-arʹba29 ([said Arʹba being] the father of Aʹnak),30 that is to say, Heʹbron,31 in the mountainous region of Judah,32 and its pasture ground all around it;
  12. and the field of the city and its settlements they gave to Caʹleb the son of Je·phunʹneh as his possession.33
  13. ¶ And to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge34 for the manslayer,35 namely, Heʹbron,36 and its pasture ground, also Libʹnah37 and its pasture ground,
  14. and Jatʹtir38 and its pasture ground, and Esh·te·moʹa39 and its pasture ground,
  15. and Hoʹlon[b]40 and its pasture ground, and Deʹbir41 and its pasture ground,
  16. and Aʹin[c]42 and its pasture ground, and Jutʹtah43 and its pasture ground, Beth-sheʹmesh44 and its pasture ground; nine cities out of these two tribes.
  17. ¶ And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibʹe·on45 and its pasture ground, Geʹba46 and its pasture ground,
  18. Anʹa·thoth47 and its pasture ground, and Alʹmon[d]48 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  19. ¶ All the cities of the sons of Aaron,49 the priests, were thirteen cities and their pasture grounds.50
  20. ¶ And for the families of the sons of Koʹhath, the Levites who were left over of the sons of Koʹhath, there came to be by their lot cities out of the tribe of Eʹphra·im.51
  21. Accordingly they gave them the city of refuge52 for the manslayer,53 namely, Sheʹchem,54 and its pasture ground55 in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im, and Geʹzer56 and its pasture ground,
  22. and Kibʹza·im[e]57 and its pasture ground, and Beth-hoʹron58 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  23. ¶ And from the tribe of Dan, Elʹte·ke and its pasture ground, Gibʹbe·thon59 and its pasture ground,
  24. Aiʹja·lon60 and its pasture ground, Gath-rimʹmon61 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  25. ¶ And from the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh, Taʹa·nach62 and its pasture ground, and Gath-rimʹmon and its pasture ground; two cities.
  26. ¶ All the cities together with their pasture grounds that the families of the sons of Koʹhath who were left over had were ten.
  27. ¶ And for the sons of Gerʹshon,63 of the families of the Levites, there was out of the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh64 the city of refuge for the manslayer, namely, Goʹlan,65 in Baʹshan, and its pasture ground, and Be·eshʹte·rah[f]66 and its pasture ground; two cities.
  28. ¶ And out of the tribe of Isʹsa·char,67 Kishʹi·on68 and its pasture ground, Dabʹe·rath69 and its pasture ground,
  29. Jarʹmuth[g]70 and its pasture ground, En-ganʹnim71 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  30. ¶ And out of the tribe of Ashʹer,72 Miʹshal73 and its pasture ground, Abʹdon74 and its pasture ground,
  31. Helʹkath75 and its pasture ground, and Reʹhob76 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  32. ¶ And out of the tribe of Naphʹta·li,77 the city of refuge78 for the manslayer,79 namely, Keʹdesh80 in Galʹi·lee,[h] and its pasture ground, and Hamʹmoth-dor81 and its pasture ground, and Karʹtan[i] and its pasture ground; three cities.
  33. ¶ All the cities of the Gerʹshon·ites by their families were thirteen cities and their pasture grounds.
  34. ¶ And the families of the sons of Me·rarʹi,82 the Levites who were left over, had out of the tribe of Zebʹu·lun83 Jokʹne·am84 and its pasture ground, Karʹtah and its pasture ground,
  35. Dimʹnah[j]85 and its pasture ground, Na·halʹal86 and its pasture ground; four cities.
  36. ¶ And out of the tribe of Reuʹben,87 Beʹzer88 and its pasture ground, and Jaʹhaz89 and its pasture ground,
  37. Kedʹe·moth90 and its pasture ground, and Mephʹa·ath91 and its pasture ground; four cities.[k]
  38. ¶ And out of the tribe of Gad,92 the city of refuge for the manslayer, namely, Raʹmoth in Gilʹe·ad,93 and its pasture ground, and Ma·ha·naʹim94 and its pasture ground,
  39. Heshʹbon95 and its pasture ground, Jaʹzer96 and its pasture ground; all the cities being four.
  40. ¶ All the cities that came to belong to the sons of Me·rarʹi97 by their families, who were left over from the families of the Levites, were, as their lot, twelve cities.
  41. ¶ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel were forty-eight cities98 together with their pasture grounds.99
  42. These cities came to be each a city together with its pasture ground all around it—thus as to all these cities.100
  43. ¶ So Jehovah gave Israel all the land that he had sworn to give to their forefathers,101 and they proceeded to take possession102 of it and to dwell in it.
  44. Furthermore, Jehovah gave them rest103 all around, according to everything that he had sworn104 to their forefathers, and not one of all their enemies stood before them.105 All their enemies Jehovah gave into their hand.106
  45. Not a promise failed out of all the good promise that Jehovah had made to the house of Israel; it all came true.107

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
