Book of Job, Chapter 37
Job 37 NWT - New World Translation Chapter 37 of Job—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ “Indeed at this my heart begins to tremble,1
And it leaps up from its place. - ¶ Listen attentively, YOU men, to the rumbling of his voice,2
And the growling that goes forth from his mouth. - ¶ Under the whole heavens he lets it loose,
And his lightning3 is to the extremities[a] of the earth. - ¶ After it a sound roars;
He thunders4 with the sound of his superiority,5
And he does not hold them back when his voice is heard.6 - ¶ God[b] thunders with his voice7 in a wonderful way,
Doing great things that we cannot know.8 - ¶ For to the snow he says, ‘Fall earthward,’9
And [to] the downpour of rain, even [to] the downpour of his strong rains.10 - ¶ On the hand of every earthling man he puts a seal
For every mortal man to know his work. - ¶ And the wild beast comes into the ambush,
And in its hiding places it dwells.11 - ¶ Out of the interior room12 comes the storm wind
And out of the north winds the cold.13 - ¶ By the breath of God[c] the ice is given14
And the breadth of waters is under constraint.[d]15 - ¶ Yes, with moisture he burdens the cloud,
His light16 scatters the cloud mass, - ¶ And it is being turned round about by his steering [them] for their performance
Wherever he commands17 them upon the face of the productive land[e] of the earth. - ¶ Whether for a rod[f]18 or for his land19
Or for loving-kindness,[g]20 he makes it produce effects. - ¶ Do give ear to this, O Job;
Stand still and show yourself attentive to the wonderful works of God.21 - ¶ Do you know when God[h] laid an appointment upon them,22
And when he caused the light of his cloud to beam? - ¶ Do you know about the poisings of the cloud,23
The wonderful works of the One perfect in knowledge?24 - ¶ How your garments are hot
When the earth shows quietness[i] from the south?25 - ¶ With him can you beat out the skies26
Hard like a molten mirror? - ¶ Let us know what we should say to him;
We cannot produce [words] because of darkness. - ¶ Should it be related to him that I would speak?
Or has any man said that it will be communicated?27 - ¶ And now they do not really see the light;
It is brilliant in the skies,
When a wind[j] itself has passed by and proceeded to cleanse them. - ¶ Out of the north golden splendor[k] comes.
Upon God[l] dignity28 is fear-inspiring. - ¶ As for the Almighty, we have not found him out;29
He is exalted in power,30
And justice31 and abundance of righteousness32 he will not belittle.33 - ¶ Therefore let men[m] fear him.34
He does not regard any who are wise in [their own] heart.”35
