Book of Job, Chapter 35
Job 35 NWT - New World Translation Chapter 35 of Job—New World Translation (NWT)
- ¶ And E·liʹhu continued answering and saying:
- ¶ “Is this what you have regarded as justice?
You have said, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s.’[a]1 - ¶ For you say, ‘Of what use is it to you?2
What benefit do I have more than by my sinning?’3 - ¶ I myself shall reply to you
And to your companions[b]4 with you. - ¶ Look up to heaven5 and see,
And behold the clouds,6 [that] they are indeed higher than you. - ¶ If you actually sin, what do you accomplish against him?7
And [if] your revolts actually increase, what do you do to him? - ¶ If you are really in the right, what do you give him,
Or what does he receive from your own hand?8 - ¶ Your wickedness may be against a man[c] like you,9
And your righteousness to a son of earthling man.[d]10 - ¶ Because of the multitude of oppressions they keep calling for aid;11
They keep crying for help because of the arm of the great ones.12 - ¶ And yet no one has said, ‘Where is God[e] my Grand Maker,[f]13
The One giving melodies in the night?’14 - ¶ He is the One teaching15 us more than the beasts[g] of the earth,16
And he makes us wiser than even the flying creatures of the heavens. - ¶ There they keep crying out, but he does not answer,17
Because of the pride18 of the bad ones. - ¶ Only the untruth God[h] does not hear,19
And the Almighty himself does not behold it.20 - ¶ How much less, then, when you say you do not behold him!21
The legal case is before him, and so you should wait anxiously for him.22 - ¶ And now because his anger has not called for an accounting,23
He has also not taken note of the extreme rashness.24 - ¶ And Job himself opens his mouth wide simply for nothing;
Without knowledge he multiplies mere words.”25
