Chapter 52 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Zed·e·kiʹah1 was twenty-one years old when he began to reign,2 and for eleven years he reigned in Jerusalem.3 And the name of his mother was Ha·muʹtal4 the daughter of Jeremiah of Libʹnah.5
  2. And he continued to do what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah,6 according to all that Je·hoiʹa·kim7 had done.
  3. For on account of the anger of Jehovah it occurred in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from before his face.8 And Zed·e·kiʹah proceeded to rebel against the king of Babylon.9
  4. Finally it came about in the ninth year of his being king,10 in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon came, he and all his military force, against Jerusalem,11 and they began to camp against her and to build against her a siege wall all around.12
  5. So the city came under siege until the eleventh year of King Zed·e·kiʹah.13
  6. ¶ In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month,14 the famine also got to be severe in the city and there proved to be no bread for the people of the land.[a]15
  7. Finally the city was broken through;16 and as regards all the men of war, they began to run away17 and go forth from the city by night by the way of the gate between the double wall that is by the king’s garden,18 while the Chal·deʹans were all around against the city; and they kept going by the way of the Arʹa·bah.19
  8. And a military force of the Chal·deʹans went chasing after the king,20 and they got to overtake Zed·e·kiʹah21 in the desert plains of Jerʹi·cho; and all his own military force was scattered from his side.22
  9. Then they seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon23 at Ribʹlah24 in the land of Haʹmath,25 that he might pronounce upon him judicial decisions.26
  10. And the king of Babylon proceeded to slaughter the sons of Zed·e·kiʹah before his eyes,27 and also all the princes of Judah he slaughtered in Ribʹlah.28
  11. And the eyes of Zed·e·kiʹah he blinded,29 after which the king of Babylon bound him with copper fetters and brought him to Babylon30 and put him in the house of custody until the day of his death.
  12. ¶ And in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that is, [in] the nineteenth year of King Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar,31 the king of Babylon, Neb·uʹzar·adʹan32 the chief of the bodyguard, who was standing before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.
  13. And he proceeded to burn the house of Jehovah33 and the house of the king and all the houses of Jerusalem;34 and every great house he burned with fire.35
  14. And all the walls of Jerusalem, round about, all the military forces of the Chal·deʹans that were with the chief of the bodyguard pulled down.36
  15. ¶ And some of the lowly ones of the people and the rest of the people that were left remaining in the city37 and the deserters that had fallen away to the king of Babylon and the rest of the master workmen Neb·uʹzar·adʹan the chief of the bodyguard took into exile.38
  16. And some of the lowly ones of the land Neb·uʹzar·adʹan the chief of the bodyguard let remain as vinedressers and as compulsory laborers.39
  17. ¶ And the copper pillars40 that belonged to the house of Jehovah and the carriages41 and the copper sea42 that was in the house of Jehovah the Chal·deʹans broke to pieces and went carrying all the copper of them to Babylon.43
  18. And the cans and the shovels44 and the extinguishers45 and the bowls46 and the cups and all the copper utensils with which they used to minister they took.47
  19. And the basins48 and the fire holders and the bowls49 and the cans and the lampstands50 and the cups and the bowls that were of genuine gold,51 and those that were of genuine silver,52 the chief of the bodyguard took.53
  20. And the two pillars,54 the one sea,55 and the twelve copper bulls56 that were under [the sea], the carriages,[b] that King Solʹo·mon had made for the house of Jehovah.57 There happened to be no weight [taken] of the copper of them—all these articles.58
  21. ¶ And as regards the pillars, eighteen cubits[c] in height was each pillar,59 and a thread of twelve cubits itself would go around it;60 and its thickness was four fingerbreadths,[d] it being hollow.
  22. And the capital upon it was of copper,61 and the height of the one capital was five cubits;62 and as regards the network and the pomegranates upon the capital, all around,63 the whole was of copper; and the second pillar had just the same as these, also the pomegranates.64
  23. And the pomegranates came to be ninety-six, on the sides,[e] all the pomegranates being one hundred upon the network round about.65
  24. ¶ Furthermore, the chief of the bodyguard took Se·raiʹah66 the chief priest and Zeph·a·niʹah67 the second priest and the three doorkeepers,68
  25. and from the city he took one court official that happened to be commissioner over the men of war, and seven men of those having access to the king,[f]69 who were found in the city, and the secretary of the chief of the army, the one mustering the people of the land,[g] and sixty men[h] of the people of the land, who were found in the midst of the city.70
  26. So these Neb·uʹzar·adʹan71 the chief of the bodyguard took and conducted them to the king of Babylon at Ribʹlah.72
  27. And these the king of Babylon proceeded to strike down73 and to put them to death in Ribʹlah74 in the land of Haʹmath.75 Thus Judah went into exile from off its soil.76
  28. ¶ These are the people whom Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar took into exile: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews.77
  29. ¶ In the eighteenth year of Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar,78 from Jerusalem there were eight hundred and thirty-two souls.
  30. ¶ In the twenty-third year of Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar, Neb·uʹzar·adʹan the chief of the bodyguard took Jews into exile, seven hundred and forty-five souls.79
¶ All the souls were four thousand and six hundred.[i]
  31. ¶ At length it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Je·hoiʹa·chin80 the king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Eʹvil-merʹo·dach the king of Babylon, in the year of his becoming king,[j] raised up the head81 of Je·hoiʹa·chin the king of Judah and proceeded to bring him forth from the prison house.
  32. And he began to speak with him good things and to put his throne[k] higher than the thrones of the [other] kings that were with him in Babylon.82
  33. And he took off[l] his prison garments,83 and he ate bread84 before him constantly all the days of his life.85
  34. And as for his allowance, there was a constant allowance given him from the king of Babylon, daily as due,[m] until the day of his death,86 all the days of his life.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
