Chapter 50 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ The word that Jehovah spoke concerning Babylon,[a]1 concerning the land of the Chal·deʹans,2 by means of Jeremiah the prophet:
  2. “Tell [it] among the nations and publish [it].3 And lift up a signal;[b]4 publish [it]. Hide nothing, O men. Say, ‘Babylon has been captured.5 Bel[c] has been put to shame.6 Merʹo·dach has become terrified. Her images have been put to shame.7 Her dungy idols have become terrified.’
  3. For against her a nation has come up from the north.8 It is the one that makes her land an object of astonishment, so that there proves to be no one dwelling in her.9 Both man[d] and domestic animal have taken flight.10 They have gone away.”11
  4. ¶ “In those days and at that time,”12 is the utterance of Jehovah, “the sons of Israel, they and the sons of Judah together, will come.13 They will walk, weeping as they walk,14 and for Jehovah their God they will seek.15
  5. To Zion they will keep asking the way, with their faces in that direction,16 [saying,] ‘Come and let us join ourselves to Jehovah in an indefinitely lasting covenant that will not be forgotten.’17
  6. A flock of perishing creatures my people has become.18 Their own shepherds have caused them to wander about.19 On the mountains they have led them away.20 From mountain to hill they have gone. They have forgotten their resting-place.21
  7. All those finding them have eaten them up,22 and their own adversaries have said,23 ‘We shall not become guilty,24 due to the fact that they have sinned against Jehovah the abiding place of righteousness25 and the hope of their forefathers,26 Jehovah.’”
  8. ¶ “Take YOUR flight out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth even out of the land of the Chal·deʹans,27 and become like the leading animals[e] before the flock.28
  9. For here I am arousing and bringing up against Babylon a congregation of great nations from the land of the north,29 and they will certainly array themselves against her.30 From there she will be captured.31 One’s arrows are like those of a mighty man causing bereavement of children, who does not come back without results.32
  10. And Chal·deʹa[f] must become a spoil.33 All those making spoil of her will satisfy themselves,”34 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  11. ¶ “For YOU men kept rejoicing,35 for YOU men kept exulting when pillaging my own inheritance.36 For YOU kept pawing like a heifer in the tender grass,37 and YOU kept neighing like stallions.38
  12. The mother of YOU men has become very much ashamed.39 She that gave YOU birth has been disappointed.40 Look! She is the least important of the nations, a waterless wilderness and a desert plain.41
  13. Because of the indignation of Jehovah she will not be inhabited,42 and she must become a desolate waste in her entirety.43 As for anyone passing along by Babylon, he will stare in astonishment and whistle on account of all her plagues.44
  14. ¶ “Array yourselves against Babylon on every side,45 all YOU who are treading the bow.46 Shoot at her.47 Spare no arrow, for it is against Jehovah that she has sinned.48
  15. Shout a war cry against her on every side.49 She has given her hand.50 Her pillars have fallen. Her walls have been torn down.51 For it is the vengeance of Jehovah.52 Take YOUR vengeance on her. Just as she has done, do to her.53
  16. Cut off the sower from Babylon,54 and the one handling the sickle in the time of harvest. Because of the maltreating sword they will turn each one to his own people, and they will flee each one to his own land.55
  17. ¶ “Israel is a scattered sheep.56 Lions themselves have done the dispersing.57 In the first instance the king of As·syrʹi·a has devoured him,58 and in this latter instance Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon has gnawed on his bones.59
  18. Therefore this is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said, ‘Here I am turning my attention upon the king of Babylon and upon his land in the same way that I turned my attention upon the king of As·syrʹi·a.60
  19. And I will bring Israel back to his pasture ground,61 and he will certainly graze on Carʹmel62 and on Baʹshan;63 and in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im64 and of Gilʹe·ad65 his soul will be satisfied.’”
  20. ¶ “And in those days and at that time,”66 is the utterance of Jehovah, “the error of Israel will be searched for,67 but it will not be; and the sins of Judah,68 and they will not be found, for I shall forgive those whom I let remain.”69
  21. ¶ “Against the land of Mer·a·thaʹim[g]—come up against her70 and against the inhabitants of Peʹkod.71 Let there be a massacre and a devoting to destruction close upon them,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and do according to all that I have commanded you.72
  22. There is the sound of war in the land, and a great breakdown.73
  23. O how the forge hammer74 of all the earth has been cut down and gets broken!75 O how Babylon has become a mere object of astonishment among the nations!76
  24. I have laid a snare for you and you have also been caught, O Babylon, and you yourself did not know [it].77 You were found and also taken hold of, for it was against Jehovah that you excited yourself.78
  25. ¶ “Jehovah has opened his storehouse, and he brings forth the weapons of his denunciation.79 For there is a work that the Sovereign80 Lord, Jehovah of armies, has in the land of the Chal·deʹans.81
  26. Come in to her from the farthest part.82 Open up her granaries.83 Bank her up, just like those making heaps,84 and devote her to destruction.85 May she not come to have any remaining ones.86
  27. Massacre all her young bulls.87 May they go down to the slaughter.88 Woe to them, for their day has come, the time for their being given attention!89
  28. ¶ “There is the sound of those fleeing and those escaping from the land of Babylon90 to tell out in Zion the vengeance of Jehovah our God,91 the vengeance for his temple.92
  29. ¶ “SUMMON against Babylon archers, all who are treading the bow.93 Encamp against her all around. May there prove to be no escapees.94 Pay back to her according to her activity.95 According to all that she has done, do to her.96 For it is against Jehovah that she has acted presumptuously, against the Holy One of Israel.97
  30. Therefore her young men will fall in her public squares,98 and even all her men of war will be brought to silence in that day,”99 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  31. ¶ “Look! I am against you,100 O Presumptuousness,”101 is the utterance of the Sovereign102 Lord, Jehovah of armies, “for your day must come, the time that I must give you attention.
  32. And Presumptuousness will certainly stumble and fall,103 and it will have no one to cause it to rise up.104 And I will set a fire ablaze in its cities, and it must devour all its surroundings.”105
  33. ¶ This is what Jehovah of armies has said: “The sons of Israel and the sons of Judah are being oppressed together, and all those taking them captive have laid hold on them.106 They have refused to let them go.107
  34. Their Repurchaser[h] is strong,108 Jehovah of armies being his name.109 Without fail he will conduct their legal case,110 in order that he may actually give repose to the land[i]111 and cause agitation to the inhabitants of Babylon.”112
  35. ¶ “There is a sword against the Chal·deʹans,”113 is the utterance of Jehovah, “and against the inhabitants of Babylon114 and against her princes115 and against her wise ones.116
  36. There is a sword against the empty talkers,117 and they will certainly act foolishly.118 There is a sword against her mighty men,119 and they will actually become terrified.120
  37. There is a sword against their horses121 and against their war chariots and against all the mixed company that are in the midst of her,122 and they will certainly become women.123 There is a sword against her treasures,124 and they will actually be plundered.
  38. There is a devastation upon her waters, and they must be dried up.125 For it is a land of graven images,126 and because of [their] frightful visions they keep acting crazy.
  39. Therefore the haunters of waterless regions[j] will dwell with the howling animals, and in her the ostriches[k] must dwell;127 and she will nevermore be dwelt in, nor will she reside for generation after generation.”128
  40. ¶ “Just as with God’s overthrow of Sodʹom and of Go·morʹrah129 and of her neighbor [towns],”130 is the utterance of Jehovah, “no man[l] will dwell there, nor will the son of mankind[m] reside in her as an alien.131
  41. ¶ “Look! A people is coming in from the north; and a great nation132 and grand kings133 themselves will be roused up from the remotest parts of the earth.134
  42. Bow and javelin they handle.135 They are cruel and will show no mercy.136 The sound of them is like the sea that is boisterous,137 and upon horses they will ride;138 set in array as one man for war against you, O daughter of Babylon.139
  43. ¶ “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,140 and his hands have dropped down.141 There is distress! Severe pains have seized hold of him, just like a woman giving birth.142
  44. ¶ “Look! Someone will come up just like a lion from the proud [thickets] along the Jordan to the durable abiding place,143 but in a moment I shall make them run away from her.144 And the one who is chosen I shall appoint over her.145 For who is like me,146 and who will challenge me,147 and who, now, is the shepherd that can stand before me?148
  45. Therefore hear, O men, the counsel149 of Jehovah that he has formulated against Babylon150 and his thoughts that he has thought out against the land of the Chal·deʹans.151 Surely the little ones of the flock will be dragged about.152 Surely on account of them he will cause their abiding place to be desolated.153
  46. At the sound [when] Babylon has been seized, the earth will certainly be set rocking,154 and among the nations an outcry itself be heard.”155

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved.
