Chapter 44 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ The word that occurred to Jeremiah for all the Jews that were dwelling in the land of Egypt,1 the ones dwelling in Migʹdol2 and in Tahʹpan·hes3 and in Noph[a]4 and in the land of Pathʹros,5 saying:
  2. “This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said, ‘YOU yourselves have seen all the calamity that I have brought in upon Jerusalem6 and upon all the cities of Judah, and here they are a devastated place this day, and in them there is no inhabitant.7
  3. It is because of their badness that they did in order to offend me by going and making sacrificial smoke8 and rendering service to other gods whom they themselves had not known, neither YOU nor YOUR forefathers.9
  4. And I kept sending to YOU all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending,10 saying: “Do not do, please, this detestable sort of thing that I have hated.”11
  5. But they did not listen,12 nor did they incline their ear to turn back from their badness by not making sacrificial smoke to other gods.13
  6. So my rage, and my anger, was poured out and it burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem;14 and they came to be a devastated place, a desolate waste, as at this day.’15
  7. ¶ “And now this is what Jehovah, the God of armies, the God of Israel, has said, ‘Why are YOU causing a great calamity to YOUR souls,16 in order to cut off from yourselves man and woman, child and suckling,17 out of the midst of Judah, so that YOU do not leave over for yourselves a remnant;
  8. by offending me with the works of YOUR hands by making sacrificial smoke to other gods18 in the land of Egypt, into which YOU are entering to reside as aliens; for the purpose of causing a cutting off of yourselves and for the purpose of YOUR becoming a malediction and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?19
  9. Have YOU forgotten the bad deeds of YOUR forefathers20 and the bad deeds of the kings of Judah21 and the bad deeds of their wives22 and YOUR own bad deeds and the bad deeds of YOUR wives,23 that they have done in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
  10. And down to this day they did not feel crushed,24 and they did not become afraid,25 nor did they walk in my law26 and in my statutes that I put before YOU and before YOUR forefathers.’27
  11. ¶ “Therefore this is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said, ‘Here I am setting my face against YOU for calamity and for cutting off all Judah.28
  12. And I will take the remnant of Judah who set their faces to enter into the land of Egypt to reside there as aliens,29 and they will all certainly come to their finish in the land of Egypt.30 They will fall by the sword; [and] by the famine31 they will come to their finish, from the smallest one even to the greatest one; by the sword and by the famine they will die. And they must become a curse, an object of astonishment and a malediction and a reproach.32
  13. And I will hold an accounting against those dwelling in the land of Egypt, just as I held an accounting against Jerusalem, with the sword, with the famine and with the pestilence.33
  14. And there will come to be no escapee or survivor for the remnant of Judah who are entering in to reside there as aliens, in the land of Egypt,34 even to return to the land of Judah to which they are lifting up their soul[ful desire] to return in order to dwell;35 for they will not return, except some escaped ones.’”
  15. ¶ And all the men who were knowing that their wives had been making sacrificial smoke to other gods,[b]36 and all the wives who were standing as a great congregation, and all the people who were dwelling in the land of Egypt,37 in Pathʹros,38 proceeded to answer Jeremiah, saying:
  16. “As regards the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Jehovah, we are not listening to you;39
  17. but we shall positively do every word that has gone forth from our mouth,40 in order to make sacrificial smoke to the ‘queen of the heavens’[c]41 and to pour[d] out to her drink offerings,42 just as we ourselves43 and our forefathers,44 our kings45 and our princes did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, when we used to be satisfied with bread and to be well off, and we did not see any calamity at all.46
  18. And from the time that we ceased to make sacrificial smoke to the ‘queen of the heavens’47 and pour out drink offerings to her we have lacked everything, and by the sword and by the famine we have come to our finish.48
  19. ¶ “Also, when[e] we were making sacrificial smoke to the ‘queen of the heavens’49 and [were disposed] to pour out drink offerings to her,50 did we without asking our husbands make for her sacrificial cakes, in order to make an image of her, and to pour out drink offerings to her?”51
  20. ¶ In turn Jeremiah said to all the people, to the able-bodied men and to the wives and to all the people, who were answering him with a word, saying:
  21. “As for the sacrificial smoke that YOU made in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem,52 YOU53 and YOUR forefathers,54 YOUR kings55 and YOUR princes56 and the people of the land,[f] was it not this that Jehovah remembered and that proceeded to come up into his heart?57
  22. Finally Jehovah was no longer able to put up with it because of the badness of YOUR dealings, because of the detestable things that YOU had done,58 and so YOUR land came to be a devastated place and an object of astonishment and a malediction, without an inhabitant, as at this day.59
  23. Because of the fact that YOU made sacrificial smoke60 and that YOU sinned against Jehovah61 and did not obey the voice of Jehovah62 and in his law63 and in his statutes and in his reminders YOU did not walk, that is why there has befallen YOU this calamity as at this day.”64
  24. ¶ And Jeremiah continued on to say to all the people and to all the women: “Hear the word of Jehovah, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt.65
  25. This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said, ‘As for YOU men and YOUR wives,66 YOU women also speak with YOUR mouths, (and with YOUR hands YOU people have made a fulfillment,) saying: “We shall without fail perform our vows that we have vowed,67 to make sacrificial smoke to the ‘queen of the heavens’68 and to pour out drink offerings to her.”69 YOU women will without fail carry out YOUR vows, and YOU will without fail perform YOUR vows.’
  26. ¶ “Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, all Judah who are dwelling in the land of Egypt,70 ‘“Here I myself have sworn by my great name,”71 Jehovah has said, “that my name will no more prove to be something called out by the mouth of any man[g] of Judah,72 saying, ‘As the Sovereign Lord Jehovah is alive!’73 in all the land of Egypt.
  27. Here I am keeping alert toward them for calamity and not for good;74 and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt will certainly come to their finish by the sword and by the famine, until they cease to be.75
  28. And as for the ones escaping from the sword, they will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number;76 and all those of the remnant of Judah, who are coming into the land of Egypt to reside there as aliens, will certainly know whose word comes true, that from me or that from them.”’”77
  29. ¶ “‘And this is the sign for YOU,’78 is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘that I am turning my attention upon YOU in this place, in order that YOU may know that my words will without fail come true upon YOU for calamity:79
  30. This is what Jehovah has said: “Here I am giving Pharʹaoh Hophʹra, the king of Egypt,80 into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those seeking for his soul,81 just as I have given Zed·e·kiʹah the king of Judah into the hand of Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon, his enemy and the one seeking for his soul.”’”82

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
