Chapter 4 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “If you would return, O Israel,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “you may return even to me.1 And if you will take away your disgusting things on my account,[a]2 then you will not go as a fugitive.
  2. And [if] you will certainly swear,3 ‘As Jehovah is alive in truth,4 in justice and in righteousness!’5 then in him[b] the nations will actually bless themselves, and in him they will boast about themselves.”6
  3. ¶ For this is what Jehovah has said to the men[c] of Judah and to Jerusalem: “Plow for yourselves arable land, and do not keep sowing among[d] thorns.7
  4. Get yourselves circumcised to Jehovah, and take away the foreskins of YOUR hearts,8 YOU men[e] of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; that my rage may not go forth just like a fire, and it certainly burn with no one to do the extinguishing, on account of the badness of YOUR dealings.”9
  5. ¶ Tell [it] in Judah, YOU men, and publish [it] even in Jerusalem,10 and say [it] out, and blow a horn[f] throughout the land.11 Call out loudly[g] and say: “Gather yourselves together, and let us enter into the fortified cities.12
  6. Raise a signal toward Zion. Make provision for shelter. Do not stand still.” For there is a calamity that I am bringing in from the north,13 even a great crash.
  7. He has gone up as a lion out of his thicket,14 and the one who is bringing the nations to ruin has pulled away;15 he has gone forth from his place in order to render your[h] land as an object of astonishment. Your own cities will fall in ruins so that there will be no inhabitant.16
  8. On this account gird on sackcloth, YOU people.17 Beat YOUR breasts and howl,18 because the burning anger of Jehovah has not turned back from us.19
  9. ¶ “And it must occur in that day,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “that the heart of the king will perish,20 also the heart of the princes; and the priests will certainly be driven to astonishment, and the prophets themselves will be amazed.”21
  10. ¶ And I proceeded to say: “Alas, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah! Truly you have absolutely deceived this people22 and Jerusalem, saying, ‘Peace itself will become YOURS,’23 and the sword has reached clear to the soul.”[i]
  11. ¶ At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem: “There is a searing wind of the beaten paths through the wilderness24 [on] the way to the daughter of my people;25 it is not for winnowing, nor for cleansing.
  12. The full wind itself comes even from these to me. Now I myself also shall speak forth the judgments with them.26
  13. Look! Like rain clouds he will come up, and his chariots are like a storm wind.27 His horses are swifter than eagles.[j]28 Woe to us, because we have been despoiled!
  14. Wash your heart clean of sheer badness, O Jerusalem, in order that you may be saved.29 How long will your erroneous thoughts lodge within you?30
  15. For a voice is telling from Dan31 and is publishing something hurtful from the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im.32
  16. Make mention [of it], YOU people, yes, to the nations. Publish [it] against Jerusalem.”
¶ “Watchers are coming from a land far away,33 and they will let out their voice against the very cities of Judah.
  17. Like guards of the open field they have become against her on all sides,34 because she has rebelled even against me,”35 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  18. “Your[k] way and your dealings—there will be a rendering[l] of these to you.[m]36 This is the calamity upon you, for it is bitter; because it has reached clear to your heart.”
  19. ¶ O my intestines, my intestines! I am in severe pains in the walls of my heart.37 My heart is boisterous within me.38 I cannot keep silent, for the sound of the horn is what my soul has heard, the alarm signal of war.39
  20. Crash upon crash is what has been called out, for the whole land has been despoiled.40 Suddenly my tents have been despoiled,41 in a moment my tent cloths.
  21. How long shall I keep seeing the signal, keep hearing the sound of the horn?42
  22. For my people is foolish.43 Of me they have not taken note.44 They are unwise sons; and they are not those having understanding.45 Wise they are for doing bad, but for doing good they actually have no knowledge.46
  23. ¶ I saw the land,[n] and, look! [it was] empty and waste;47 and into the heavens, and their light was no more.48
  24. I saw the mountains, and, look! they were rocking, and the hills themselves were all given a shaking.49
  25. I saw, and, look! there was not an earthling man,[o] and the flying creatures of the heavens had all fled.50
  26. I saw, and, look! the orchard itself was a wilderness, and the very cities of it had all been torn down.51 It was because of Jehovah, because of his burning anger.
  27. ¶ For this is what Jehovah has said: “A desolate waste is what the whole land will become,52 and shall I not carry out a sheer extermination?[p]53
  28. On this account the land will mourn,54 and the heavens above will certainly become dark.55 It is because I have spoken, I have considered, and I have not felt regret, nor shall I turn back from it.56
  29. Because of the sound of the horsemen and bow shooters the entire city is running away.57 They have entered into the thickets, and into the rocks[q] they have gone up.58 Every city is left, and there is no man[r] dwelling in them.”
  30. ¶ Now that you[s] are despoiled, what will you do, since you used to clothe yourself with scarlet, since you used to deck yourself with ornaments of gold, since you used to enlarge your eyes with black paint?59 It is in vain that you used to make yourself pretty.60 Those lusting after [you] have rejected you; they keep seeking for your very soul.61
  31. For a voice like that of a sick woman[t] I have heard, the distress like that of a woman giving birth to her first child,62 the voice of the daughter of Zion who keeps gasping for breath. She keeps spreading out her palms:63 “Woe, now, to me, for my soul is tired of the killers!”64

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
