Chapter 36 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now it came about in the fourth year of Je·hoiʹa·kim1 the son of Jo·siʹah, the king of Judah, that this word occurred to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
  2. “Take for yourself a roll of a book,2 and you must write in it all the words3 that I have spoken to you against Israel and against Judah4 and against all the nations,5 since the day that I spoke to you, since the days of Jo·siʹah, clear down to this day.6
  3. Perhaps those of the house of Judah will listen to all the calamity that I am thinking of doing to them,7 to the end that they may return, each one from his bad way,8 and that I may actually forgive their error and their sin.”9
  4. ¶ And Jeremiah proceeded to call Barʹuch10 the son of Ne·riʹah that Barʹuch might write at the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah that He had spoken to him, on the roll of the book.11
  5. Then Jeremiah commanded Barʹuch, saying: “I am shut up. I am unable to enter into the house of Jehovah.12
  6. And you yourself must enter in and read aloud from the roll that you have written at my mouth the words of Jehovah13 in the ears of the people at the house of Jehovah in the day of fast;14 and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities you should read them aloud.15
  7. Perhaps their request for favor will fall before Jehovah16 and they will return, each one from his bad way,17 for great is the anger and the rage that Jehovah has spoken against this people.”18
  8. ¶ And Barʹuch19 the son of Ne·riʹah proceeded to do according to all that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him, to read aloud from the book20 the words of Jehovah at the house of Jehovah.21
  9. ¶ Now it came about in the fifth year of Je·hoiʹa·kim22 the son of Jo·siʹah, the king of Judah, in the ninth month,23 that all the people in Jerusalem and all the people that were coming in from the cities of Judah into Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before Jehovah.24
  10. And Barʹuch began to read aloud from the book the words of Jeremiah at the house of Jehovah, in the dining room25 of Gem·a·riʹah[a]26 the son of Shaʹphan27 the copyist,28 in the upper courtyard, at the entrance of the new gate of the house of Jehovah,29 in the ears of all the people.
  11. ¶ And Mi·caiʹah[b] the son of Gem·a·riʹah the son of Shaʹphan30 got to hear all the words of Jehovah from out of the book.
  12. At that he went down to the house of the king, to the dining room of the secretary, and, look! there is where all the princes were sitting, E·lishʹa·ma31 the secretary and De·laʹiah[c]32 the son of She·maiʹah[d] and El·naʹthan33 the son of Achʹbor34 and Gem·a·riʹah35 the son of Shaʹphan36 and Zed·e·kiʹah the son of Han·a·niʹah[e] and all the other princes.
  13. And Mi·caiʹah37 proceeded to tell them all the words that he had heard when Barʹuch read aloud from the book in the ears of the people.38
  14. ¶ Then all the princes sent out to Barʹuch39 Je·huʹdi40 the son of Neth·a·niʹah[f] the son of Shel·e·miʹah[g] the son of Cushʹi, saying: “The roll from which you read aloud in the ears of the people—take it in your hand and come.” Accordingly Barʹuch the son of Ne·riʹah[h] took the roll in his hand and came in to them.41
  15. Then they said to him: “Sit down, please, and read it aloud in our ears.” So Barʹuch42 read aloud in their ears.
  16. ¶ Now it came about that as soon as they heard all the words, they looked at one another in dread; and they proceeded to say to Barʹuch: “We shall without fail tell the king all these words.”43
  17. And Barʹuch they asked, saying: “Tell us, please, How did you write all these words from his mouth?”44
  18. Then Barʹuch said to them: “Out of his mouth he kept declaring to me all these words, and I was writing in the book with ink.”45
  19. Finally the princes said to Barʹuch: “Go, conceal yourself, you and Jeremiah, so that no one at all will know where YOU men are.”46
  20. ¶ Then they came in to the king, to the courtyard,47 and the roll they entrusted to the dining room48 of E·lishʹa·ma49 the secretary; and they began to tell all the words in the ears of the king.
  21. ¶ So the king sent Je·huʹdi50 out to get the roll. Accordingly he got it out of the dining room of E·lishʹa·ma51 the secretary.52 And Je·huʹdi began to read it aloud in the ears of the king and in the ears of all the princes standing by the king.
  22. And the king was sitting in the winter house,53 in the ninth month,[i]54 with a brazier55 burning before him.
  23. Then it came about that as soon as Je·huʹdi had read three or four page-columns, he proceeded to tear it apart with the secretary’s knife, pitching [it] also into the fire that was in the brazier until all the roll ended up in the fire that was in the brazier.56
  24. And they felt no dread;57 neither did the king and all his servants, who were listening to all these words, rip their garments apart.58
  25. And even El·naʹthan59 and De·laʹiah[j]60 and Gem·a·riʹah[k]61 themselves pleaded with the king not to burn the roll, but he did not listen to them.62
  26. Further, the king commanded Je·rahʹme·el the son of the king and Se·raiʹah[l] the son of Azʹri·el and Shel·e·miʹah[m] the son of Abʹde·el to get Barʹuch the secretary and Jeremiah the prophet.63 But Jehovah kept them concealed.64
  27. ¶ And the word of Jehovah occurred further to Jeremiah after the king had burned up the roll with the words that Barʹuch65 had written at the mouth of Jeremiah,66 saying:
  28. “Take again for yourself a roll, another one, and write on it all the first words that proved to be on the first roll, which Je·hoiʹa·kim the king of Judah burned up.67
  29. And against Je·hoiʹa·kim the king of Judah you should say, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “You yourself have burned up this roll,68 saying, ‘Why is it that you have written on it,69 saying: “The king of Babylon will come without fail and will certainly bring this land to ruin and cause man[n] and beast to cease from it”?’70
  30. Therefore this is what Jehovah has said against Je·hoiʹa·kim the king of Judah, ‘He will come to have no one sitting upon the throne of David,71 and his own dead body will become something thrown out72 to the heat by day and to the frost by night.
  31. And I will call to account against him73 and against his offspring and against his servants their error,74 and I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the men[o] of Judah all the calamity that I have spoken against them,75 and they did not listen.’”’”76
  32. ¶ And Jeremiah himself took another roll and then gave it to Barʹuch the son of Ne·riʹah, the secretary,77 who proceeded to write upon it at the mouth78 of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Je·hoiʹa·kim the king of Judah had burned in the fire;79 and there were added to them many more words like those.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
