Chapter 31 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “At that time,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “I shall become God to all the families of Israel; and as for them, they will become my people.”1
  2. ¶ This is what Jehovah has said: “The people made up of survivors from the sword found favor in the wilderness,2 when Israel was walking[a] to get his repose.”3
  3. From far away Jehovah himself appeared to me, [saying:] “And with a love to time indefinite I have loved you.[b]4 That is why I have drawn you with loving-kindness.[c]5
  4. Yet shall I rebuild you and you will actually be rebuilt,6 O virgin of Israel. You will yet deck yourself with your tambourines and actually go forth in the dance of those who are laughing.7
  5. You will yet plant vineyards in the mountains of Sa·marʹi·a.8 The planters will certainly plant and start to use [them].9
  6. For there exists a day when the lookouts in the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im will actually call out, ‘Rise up, O men, and let us go up to Zion, to Jehovah our God.’”10
  7. ¶ For this is what Jehovah has said: “CRY out loudly to Jacob with rejoicing, and CRY shrilly at the head of nations.11 PUBLISH [it].12 GIVE praise and SAY, ‘Save, O Jehovah, your people, the remnant of Israel.’13
  8. Here I am bringing them from the land of the north,14 and I will collect them together from the remotest parts of the earth.15 Among them will be the blind and the lame, the pregnant woman and the one giving birth, all together.16 As a great congregation they will return here.17
  9. With weeping they will come,18 and with [their] entreaties for favor I shall bring them. I shall make them walk to torrent valleys of water,19 in a right way in which they will not be caused to stumble. For I have become to Israel a Father;20 and as for Eʹphra·im, he is my firstborn.”21
  10. ¶ Hear the word of Jehovah, O YOU nations, and tell [it] among the islands[d] far away,22 and say: “The One scattering Israel will himself collect him together,23 and he will certainly keep him as a shepherd does his drove.24
  11. For Jehovah will actually redeem Jacob25 and reclaim him out of the hand of the one stronger than he is.26
  12. And they will certainly come and cry out joyfully on the height of Zion27 and become radiant over the goodness of Jehovah,28 over the grain and over the new wine29 and over the oil and over the young ones[e] of the flock and the cattle.30 And their soul will simply become like a well-watered garden,31 and no more will they languish again.”32
  13. ¶ “At that time the virgin will rejoice in the dance, also the young men and the old men, all together.33 And I will change their mourning into exultation, and I will comfort them and make them rejoice away from their grief.34
  14. And I will saturate the soul of the priests with fatness,35 and with my goodness my own people will become satisfied,”36 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  15. ¶ “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘In Raʹmah37 a voice is being heard, lamentation and bitter weeping;38 Rachel39 weeping over her sons.40 She has refused to be comforted over her sons,41 because they are no more.’”42
  16. ¶ This is what Jehovah has said: “‘Hold back your[f] voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears,43 for there exists a reward for your activity,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘and they will certainly return from the land of the enemy.’44
  17. ¶ “‘And there exists a hope45 for your future,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘and the sons will certainly return to their own territory.’”46
  18. ¶ “I have positively heard Eʹphra·im bemoaning himself,47 ‘You have corrected me, that I may be corrected,48 like a calf that has not been trained.49 Cause me to turn back, and I shall readily turn back,50 for you are Jehovah my God.51
  19. For after my turning back I felt regret;52 and after my being led to know I made a slap upon the thigh.53 I became ashamed, and I also felt humiliated,54 for I had carried the reproach of my youth.’”55
  20. ¶ “Is Eʹphra·im a precious son to me, or a fondly treated child?56 For to the extent of my speaking against him I shall without fail remember him further.57 That is why my intestines have become boisterous for him.58 By all means I shall have pity upon him,”59 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  21. ¶ “Set up road marks for yourself.[g] Place signposts for yourself.60 Fix your heart upon the highway, the way that you will have to go.[h]61 Come back, O virgin of Israel. Come back to these cities of yours.62
  22. How long will you turn this way and that,63 O unfaithful daughter?64 For Jehovah has created a new thing in the earth: A mere female will press around an able-bodied man.”[i]
  23. ¶ This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said: “They will yet say this word in the land of Judah and in his cities, when I shall gather their captives, ‘May Jehovah bless you,[j]65 O righteous dwelling place,66 O holy mountain.’67
  24. And in it[k] Judah and all his cities will certainly dwell all together, farmers and those who have set out with the drove.68
  25. For I will saturate the tired soul, and every languishing soul I will fill.”69
  26. ¶ At this thing I awoke and began to see; and as for my sleep, it had been pleasurable to me.
  27. ¶ “Look! There are days coming,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man[l] and with the seed of domestic animal.”70
  28. ¶ “And it must occur that just as I had kept alert toward them71 to uproot and to pull down and to tear down and to destroy and to do damage,72 so I shall keep alert toward them to build up and to plant,”73 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  29. “In those days they will no more say, ‘The fathers were the ones that ate the unripe grape, but it was the teeth of the sons that got set on edge.’[m]74
  30. But it will be each one for his own error that one will die.75 Any man[n] eating the unripe grape, his will be the teeth that will be set on edge.”
  31. ¶ “Look! There are days coming,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I will conclude[o] with the house of Israel76 and with the house of Judah77 a new covenant;[p]78
  32. not one like the covenant that I concluded with their forefathers in the day of my taking hold of their hand to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt,79 ‘which covenant of mine they themselves broke,80 although[q] I myself had husbandly ownership81 of them,’[r] is the utterance of Jehovah.”
  33. ¶ “For this is the covenant82 that I shall conclude with the house of Israel after those days,”83 is the utterance of Jehovah. “I will put my law within them,84 and in their heart I shall write it.85 And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people.”86
  34. ¶ “And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother,87 saying, ‘KNOW Jehovah!’88 for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them,”89 is the utterance of Jehovah. “For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.”90
  35. ¶ This is what Jehovah, the Giver of the sun for light by day,91 the statutes92 of[s] the moon93 and the stars for light by night,94 the One stirring up the sea that its waves may become boisterous,95 the One whose name is Jehovah of armies,96 has said:
  36. “‘If these regulations could be removed from before me,’97 is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘those who are the seed of Israel could likewise cease from proving to be a nation before me always.’”98
  37. ¶ This is what Jehovah has said: “‘If the heavens up above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below could be searched out,99 I myself also could reject the entire seed of Israel on account of all that they have done,’100 is the utterance of Jehovah.”
  38. ¶ “Look! There are days coming,”[t] is the utterance of Jehovah, “and the city will certainly be built101 to Jehovah from the Tower of Ha·nanʹel102 to the Corner Gate.103
  39. And the line for measurement104 will yet actually go forth straight ahead to the hill of Gaʹreb, and it will certainly go around to Goʹah.
  40. And all the low plain of the carcasses105 and of the fatty ashes,106 and all the terraces as far as the torrent valley of Kidʹron,107 clear to the corner of the Horse Gate[u]108 toward the sunrising, will be something holy to Jehovah.109 It will not be uprooted, neither will it be torn down anymore to time indefinite.”110

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
