Chapter 29 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ And these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the remainder of the older men of the exiled people and to the priests and to the prophets and to all the people, whom Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon,1
  2. after Jec·o·niʹah2 the king and the lady3 and the court officials, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem,4 and the craftsmen and the builders of bulwarks5 had gone forth from Jerusalem.
  3. It was by the hand of El·aʹsah the son of Shaʹphan6 and Gem·a·riʹah the son of Hil·kiʹah, whom Zed·e·kiʹah7 the king of Judah sent to Babylon to Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar the king of Babylon, saying:
  4. ¶ “This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said to all the exiled people, whom I have caused to go into exile8 from Jerusalem to Babylon,
  5. ‘Build houses and inhabit [them], and plant gardens and eat their fruitage.9
  6. Take wives and become father to sons and to daughters;10 and take wives for YOUR own sons and give YOUR own daughters to husbands, that they may give birth to sons and to daughters; and become many there, and do not become few.
  7. Also, seek the peace of the city to which I have caused YOU to go into exile, and pray in its behalf to Jehovah, for in its peace there will prove to be peace for YOU yourselves.11
  8. For this is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said: “Let not YOUR prophets who are in among YOU and YOUR practicers of divination deceive YOU,12 and do not YOU listen to their[a] dreams that they[b] are dreaming.13
  9. For ‘it is in falsehood that they are prophesying to YOU in my name. I have not sent them,’14 is the utterance of Jehovah.”’”
  10. ¶ “For this is what Jehovah has said, ‘In accord with the fulfilling of seventy years at Babylon I shall turn my attention to YOU people,15 and I will establish toward YOU my good word in bringing YOU back to this place.’16
  11. ¶ “‘For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward YOU,’17 is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity,18 to give YOU a future and a hope.19
  12. And YOU will certainly call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to YOU.’20
  13. ¶ “‘And YOU will actually seek me and find [me],21 for YOU will search for me with all YOUR heart.22
  14. And I will let myself be found by YOU,’23 is the utterance of Jehovah. ‘And I will gather YOUR body of captives and collect YOU together out of all the nations and out of all the places to which I have dispersed YOU,’24 is the utterance of Jehovah. ‘And I will bring YOU back to the place from which I caused YOU to go into exile.’25
  15. ¶ “But YOU have said, ‘Jehovah has raised up for us prophets in Babylon.’
  16. ¶ “For this is what Jehovah has said to the king sitting on the throne of David26 and to all the people dwelling in this city, YOUR brothers that have not gone forth with YOU into exile,27
  17. ‘This is what Jehovah of armies has said: “Here I am sending against them the sword,28 the famine29 and the pestilence,30 and I will make them like the burst-open figs that cannot be eaten for badness.”’31
  18. ¶ “‘And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine and with the pestilence, and I will give them for a quaking to all the kingdoms of the earth,32 for a curse and for an object of astonishment and for a whistling at and for a reproach among all the nations to which I shall certainly disperse them,33
  19. due to the fact that they have not listened to my words,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘that I have sent to them with my servants the prophets, getting up early and sending [them].’34
¶ “‘But YOU have not listened,’35 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  20. ¶ “And as for YOU, hear the word of Jehovah, all you exiled people,36 whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.37
  21. This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said concerning Aʹhab the son of Ko·laiʹah and to Zed·e·kiʹah the son of Ma·a·seiʹah, who are prophesying to YOU falsehood in my own name,38 ‘Here I am giving them into the hand of Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon, and he must strike them down before YOUR eyes.39
  22. And from them a malediction will certainly be taken on the part of the entire body of exiles of Judah that is in Babylon, saying: “May Jehovah make you like Zed·e·kiʹah and like Aʹhab,40 whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire!”41
  23. for the reason that they have carried on senselessness in Israel,42 and they keep committing adultery with the wives of their companions43 and keep speaking falsely in my own name the word that I did not command them.44
¶ “‘“And I am the One knowing and am a witness,”45 is the utterance of Jehovah.’”
  24. ¶ “And to She·maiʹah[c]46 of Ne·helʹam you will say,
  25. ‘This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said: “For the reason that you yourself have sent in your name letters47 to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zeph·a·niʹah48 the son of Ma·a·seiʹah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
  26. ‘Jehovah himself has made you priest instead of Je·hoiʹa·da the priest, in order to become the grand overseer[d] of the house of Jehovah49 toward any man[e] maddened50 and behaving like a prophet, and you must put him into the stocks and into the pillory;51
  27. now, then, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anʹa·thoth,52 who is behaving as a prophet to YOU people?53
  28. For that is why he has sent to us at Babylon, saying: “It[f] is long drawn out! Build houses and inhabit [them], and plant gardens and eat their fruitage,54—”’”’”
  29. ¶ And Zeph·a·niʹah55 the priest proceeded to read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
  30. ¶ Then the word of Jehovah occurred to Jeremiah, saying:
  31. “Send to all the exiled people,56 saying, ‘This is what Jehovah has said concerning She·maiʹah of Ne·helʹam: “For the reason that She·maiʹah has prophesied to YOU people, but I myself did not send him, and he tried to make YOU trust in falsehood,57
  32. therefore this is what Jehovah has said, ‘Here I am turning my attention upon She·maiʹah58 of Ne·helʹam and upon his offspring.’59
¶ “‘“‘He will not come to have a man dwelling in the midst of this people;60 and he will not look upon the good that I am doing for my people,’61 is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘for he has spoken outright revolt against Jehovah.’”’”62

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
