Chapter 25 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ The word that occurred to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Je·hoiʹa·kim1 the son of Jo·siʹah, the king of Judah, that is, the first year of Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon;
  2. which Jeremiah the prophet spoke concerning all the people of Judah and concerning all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:
  3. ¶ “From the thirteenth year of Jo·siʹah2 the son of Aʹmon, the king of Judah, and down to this day, these twenty-three years the word of Jehovah has occurred to me, and I kept speaking to YOU people, rising up early and speaking, but YOU did not listen.3
  4. And Jehovah sent to YOU all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them], but YOU did not listen,4 neither did YOU incline YOUR ear to listen,5
  5. they saying, ‘Turn back, please, every one from his bad way and from the badness of YOUR dealings,6 and continue dwelling upon the ground that Jehovah gave to YOU and to YOUR forefathers from long ago and to a long time to come.7
  6. And do not walk after other gods[a] in order to serve them and to bow down to them, that YOU may not offend me with the work of YOUR hands, and that I may not cause calamity to YOU.’8
  7. ¶ “‘But YOU did not listen to me,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘to the intent that YOU might offend me with the work of YOUR hands, for calamity to yourselves.’9
  8. ¶ “Therefore this is what Jehovah of armies has said, ‘“For the reason that YOU did not obey my words,
  9. here I am sending and I will take all the families of the north,”10 is the utterance of Jehovah, “even [sending] to Neb·u·chad·rezʹzar the king of Babylon, my servant,11 and I will bring them against this land12 and against its inhabitants and against all these nations round about;13 and I will devote them to destruction and make them an object of astonishment and something to whistle14 at and places devastated to time indefinite.15
  10. And I will destroy out of them the sound of exultation and the sound of rejoicing,16 the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride,17 the sound of the hand mill18 and the light of the lamp.19
  11. And all this land must become a devastated place, an object of astonishment, and these nations will have to serve the king of Babylon seventy years.”’20
  12. ¶ “‘And it must occur that when seventy years have been fulfilled21 I shall call to account against the king of Babylon and against that nation,’22 is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘their error, even against the land of the Chal·deʹans,23 and I will make it desolate wastes to time indefinite.24
  13. And I will bring in upon that land all my words that I have spoken against it, even all that is written in this book that Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.25
  14. For even they themselves, many nations and great kings,26 have exploited them as servants;27 and I will repay them according to their activity and according to the work of their hands.’”28
  15. ¶ For this is what Jehovah the God of Israel said to me: “Take this cup of the wine of rage out of my hand, and you must make all the nations to whom I am sending you drink it.[b]29
  16. And they must drink and shake back and forth and act like crazed men because of the sword that I am sending among them.”30
  17. ¶ And I proceeded to take the cup out of the hand of Jehovah and to make all the nations drink to whom Jehovah had sent me:31
  18. namely, Jerusalem and the cities of Judah and her kings, her princes, to make them a devastated place, an object of astonishment,32 something to whistle at and a malediction, just as at this day;33
  19. Pharʹaoh the king of Egypt and his servants and his princes and all his people;34
  20. and all the mixed company, and all the kings of the land of Uz,35 and all the kings of the land of the Phi·lisʹtines36 and Ashʹke·lon37 and Gaʹza38 and Ekʹron39 and the remnant of Ashʹdod;40
  21. Eʹdom41 and Moʹab42 and the sons of Amʹmon;43
  22. and all the kings of Tyre44 and all the kings of Siʹdon45 and the kings of the island[c] that is in the region of the sea;
  23. and Deʹdan46 and Teʹma47 and Buz and all those with hair clipped at the temples;48
  24. and all the kings of the Arabs49 and all the kings of the mixed company who are residing in the wilderness;
  25. and all the kings of Zimʹri and all the kings of Eʹlam50 and all the kings of the Medes;51
  26. and all the kings of the north who are near and far away, one after the other, and all the [other] kingdoms of the earth that are on the surface of the ground; and the king of Sheʹshach[d]52 himself will drink after them.
  27. ¶ “And you must say to them, ‘This is what Jehovah of armies, the God[e] of Israel, has said: “Drink and get drunk and puke and fall so that YOU cannot get up53 because of the sword that I am sending among YOU.”’54
  28. And it must occur that in case they refuse to take the cup out of your hand to drink, you must also say to them, ‘This is what Jehovah of armies has said: “YOU will drink without fail.55
  29. For, look! it is upon the city upon which my name is called that I am starting off in bringing calamity,56 and should YOU yourselves in any way go free of punishment?”’57
¶ “‘YOU will not go free of punishment, for there is a sword that I am calling against all the inhabitants of the earth,’ is the utterance of Jehovah of armies.
  30. ¶ “And as for you, you will prophesy to them all these words, and you must say to them, ‘From on high Jehovah himself will roar,58 and from his holy dwelling he will give forth his voice.59 Without fail he will roar upon[f] his abiding place. A shout like that of those treading [the winepress] he will sing out against all the inhabitants of the earth.’60
  31. ¶ “‘A noise will certainly come clear to the farthest part[g] of the earth, for there is a controversy that Jehovah has with the nations.61 He must personally put himself in judgment with all flesh.62 As regards the wicked ones, he must give them to the sword,’63 is the utterance of Jehovah.
  32. ¶ “This is what Jehovah of armies has said, ‘Look! A calamity is going forth from nation to nation,64 and a great tempest itself will be roused up from the remotest parts of the earth.65
  33. And those slain by Jehovah will certainly come to be in that day from one end of the earth clear to the other end of the earth.[h]66 They will not be bewailed, neither will they be gathered up or be buried.67 As manure on the surface of the ground they will become.’68
  34. ¶ “Howl, YOU shepherds, and cry out!69 And wallow about,70 YOU majestic ones of the flock,71 because YOUR days for slaughtering and for YOUR scatterings have been fulfilled,[i]72 and YOU must fall like a desirable vessel!73
  35. And a place to flee to has perished from the shepherds, and a means of escape from the majestic ones of the flock.74
  36. Listen! The outcry of the shepherds, and the howling of the majestic ones of the flock, for Jehovah is despoiling their pasturage.
  37. And the peaceful abiding places have been rendered lifeless[j] because of the burning anger of Jehovah.75
  38. He has left his covert just like a maned young lion,76 for their land has become an object of astonishment because of the maltreating sword[k] and because of his burning anger.”77

  1. ^ “Gods.” Heb., ʼelo·himʹ.
  2. ^ “It,” masc., referring to the “wine,” masc.
  3. ^ Or, “coastland.”
  4. ^ “Sheshach,” MVg; T, “Babel.” This appears to be a cryptographic name for Babel (Babylon) by the device called ʼath·bashʹ that disguises the true name by taking the last letter of the Heb. alphabet, Taw, for the first, ʼAʹleph, and the second to the last letter, Shin, for the second letter, Behth, and so on. Thus in “Babel” each Behth, “b,” would stand for Shin, Laʹmedh would stand for Kaph, and the name would become She·shakhʹ.
  5. ^ “The God of.” Heb., ʼElo·hehʹ.
  6. ^ Or, “against.”
  7. ^ Or, “most distant part; extremity.” Heb., qetsehʹ. Compare 16:19. See Ac 1:8.
  8. ^ Or, “from the farthest part of the earth to the farthermost part of the earth.” Heb., miq·tsehʹ ha·ʼaʹrets weʽadh-qetsehʹ ha·ʼaʹrets. Compare vs 31.
  9. ^ Or, “your days for being slaughtered and for your being scattered have come due.”
  10. ^ Or, “silent.”
  11. ^ “Sword,” TLXX and about 20 Heb. mss; M, “heatedness (burning).”

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
