Chapter 17 of JeremiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus.1 With a diamond point it is engraved on the tablet of their heart,2 and on the horns of their[a] altars,3
  2. when their sons remember their altars and their sacred poles[b] beside a luxuriant tree, upon the high hills,4
  3. [on] the mountains in the field. Your[c] resources, all your treasures, I shall give for mere plunder5—your high places because of sin throughout all your territories.6
  4. And you let loose, even of your own accord, from your hereditary possession that I had given you.7 I also will make you serve your enemies in the land that you have not known;8 for as a fire YOU people have been ignited in my anger.9 To time indefinite it will keep kindled.”
  5. ¶ This is what Jehovah has said: “Cursed is the able-bodied man[d] who puts his trust in earthling man[e]10 and actually makes flesh his arm,11 and whose heart turns away from Jehovah himself.12
  6. And he will certainly become like a solitary tree in the desert plain and will not see when good comes;13 but he must reside in parched places[f] in the wilderness, in a salt country that is not inhabited.14
  7. Blessed is the able-bodied man who puts his trust in Jehovah, and whose confidence[g] Jehovah has become.15
  8. And he will certainly become like a tree planted by the waters, that sends out its roots right by the watercourse; and he will not see when heat comes, but his foliage will actually prove to be luxuriant.16 And in the year of drought17 he will not become anxious, nor will he leave off from producing fruit.
  9. ¶ “The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate.18 Who can know it?
  10. I, Jehovah, am searching the heart,19 examining the kidneys,[h]20 even to give to each one according to his ways,[i]21 according to the fruitage of his dealings.22
  11. [As] the partridge that has gathered together[j] what it has not laid is the one making riches, but not with justice.23 At the half of his days he will leave them,24 and in his finale he will prove to be senseless.”25
  12. ¶ There is the glorious throne on high from the start;26 it is the place of our sanctuary.27
  13. O Jehovah, the hope of Israel,28 all those who are leaving you will be put to shame.29 Those apostatizing from me30 will be written down even in the earth, because they have left the source of living water, Jehovah.31
  14. Heal me, O Jehovah, and I shall be healed.32 Save me, and I will be saved;33 for you are my praise.34
  15. ¶ Look! There are those saying to me: “Where is the word of Jehovah?35 Let it come in, please.”
  16. But as for me, I did not hasten from being a shepherd following you, and for the desperate day I did not show any craving. You yourself have known the expression of my lips; in front of your face it has occurred.
  17. Do not become something terrifying to me.36 You are my refuge in the day of calamity.37
  18. Let my persecutors be put to shame,38 but let me personally be put to no shame.39 Let them be the ones to be struck with terror, but let me personally not be struck with terror. Bring upon them the day of calamity,40 and break them even with twice as much breakdown.41
  19. ¶ This is what Jehovah has said to me: “Go,[k] and you must stand in the gate of the sons of the people by which the kings of Judah enter in and by which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem.42
  20. And you must say to them, ‘Hear the word of Jehovah, YOU kings of Judah and all Judah and all YOU inhabitants of Jerusalem, who are entering in by these gates.43
  21. This is what Jehovah has said: “Watch out for YOUR souls,[l]44 and do not carry on the sabbath day any load that YOU must bring in through the gates of Jerusalem.45
  22. And YOU must bring no load out of YOUR homes on the sabbath day; and no work at all must YOU do.46 And YOU must sanctify the sabbath day, just as I commanded YOUR forefathers;47
  23. but they did not listen or incline their ear,48 and they proceeded to harden their neck49 in order not to hear and in order to receive no discipline.”’50
  24. ¶ “‘“And it must occur that, if YOU strictly obey me,”51 is the utterance of Jehovah, “to bring in no load through the gates of this city on the sabbath day52 and to sanctify the sabbath day by not doing on it any work,53
  25. there will also certainly enter in by the gates of this city kings with princes,54 sitting on the throne of David,55 riding in the chariot and upon horses, they and their princes, the men[m] of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city will certainly be inhabited to time indefinite.
  26. And people will actually come from the cities of Judah and from round about Jerusalem and from the land of Benjamin56 and from the lowland[n]57 and from the mountainous region58 and from the Negʹeb,[o]59 bringing whole burnt offering60 and sacrifice61 and grain offering62 and frankincense63 and bringing thanksgiving sacrifice into the house of Jehovah.64
  27. ¶ “‘“But if YOU will not obey me by sanctifying the sabbath day and not carrying a load,65 but there is a coming in [with it] through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, I will also set a fire ablaze in her gates,66 and it will certainly devour the dwelling towers of Jerusalem67 and will not be extinguished.”’”68

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
