Chapter 42 of IsaiahNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Look! My servant,1 on whom I keep fast hold!2 My chosen one,3 [whom] my soul has approved!4 I have put my spirit[a] in him.5 Justice to the nations is what he will bring forth.6
  2. He will not cry out or raise [his voice], and in the street[b] he will not let his voice be heard.7
  3. No crushed reed will he break;8 and as for a dim flaxen wick, he will not extinguish it. In trueness he will bring forth justice.[c]9
  4. He will not grow dim nor be crushed[d] until he sets justice in the earth itself;10 and for his law the islands[e] themselves will keep waiting.[f]11
  5. ¶ This is what the [true] God, Jehovah, has said, the Creator of the heavens12 and the Grand One stretching[g] them out;13 the One laying out the earth14 and its produce,15 the One giving breath[h]16 to the people on it,17 and spirit to those walking in it:18
  6. “I myself, Jehovah, have called you in righteousness,19 and I proceeded to take hold of your hand.20 And I shall safeguard you and give you as a covenant of the people,21 as a light of the nations,22
  7. [for you] to open the blind eyes,23 to bring forth out of the dungeon the prisoner,24 out of the house of detention those sitting in darkness.25
  8. ¶ “I am Jehovah. That is my name;26 and to no one else shall I give my own glory,27 neither my praise28 to graven images.29
  9. ¶ “The first things—here they have come,30 but new things I am telling out. Before they begin to spring up, I cause YOU people to hear [them].”31
  10. ¶ Sing to Jehovah a new song,32 his praise from the extremity of the earth,33 YOU men that are going down to the sea34 and to that which fills it, YOU islands and YOU inhabiting them.35
  11. Let the wilderness36 and its cities raise [their voice], the settlements that Keʹdar inhabits.37 Let the inhabitants of the crag38 cry out in joy. From the top of the mountains let people cry aloud.
  12. Let them attribute to Jehovah glory,39 and in the islands let them tell forth even his praise.40
  13. ¶ Like a mighty man Jehovah himself will go forth.41 Like a warrior[i] he will awaken zeal.42 He will shout, yes, he will let out a war cry;43 over his enemies he will show himself mightier.44
  14. ¶ “I have kept quiet for a long time.45 I continued silent.46 I kept exercising self-control.47 Like a woman giving birth I am going to groan, pant, and gasp at the same time.48
  15. I shall devastate49 mountains and hills, and all their vegetation I shall dry up. And I will turn rivers into islands, and reedy pools I shall dry up.50
  16. And I will make the blind ones walk in a way that they have not known;51 in a roadway that they have not known I shall cause them to tread.52 I shall turn a dark place before them into light,53 and rugged terrain into level land.54 These are the things that I will do for them, and I will not leave them.”55
  17. ¶ They must be turned back, they will be very much ashamed, those who are putting trust in the carved image,56 those who are saying to a molten image: “YOU are our gods.”[j]57
  18. ¶ Hear, YOU deaf ones; and look forth to see, YOU blind ones.58
  19. Who is blind, if not my servant, and who is deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is blind as the one rewarded,[k] or blind as the servant of Jehovah?59
  20. It was a case of seeing many things, but you did not keep watching.60 It was a case of opening the ears, but you[l] did not keep listening.61
  21. Jehovah himself for the sake of his righteousness62 has taken a delight in that he should magnify the law63 and make it majestic.
  22. But it is a people plundered and pillaged,64 all of them being trapped in the holes, and in the houses of detention they have been kept hidden.65 They have come to be for plunder without a deliverer,66 for pillage without anyone to say: “Bring back!”
  23. ¶ Who among YOU people will give ear to this? Who will pay attention and listen for later times?67
  24. Who has given Jacob for mere pillage, and Israel to the plunderers? Is it not Jehovah, the One against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they did not want to walk and to whose law they did not listen?68
  25. So He kept pouring out upon him rage, his anger, and the strength of war.69 And it kept consuming him all around,70 but he took no note;71 and it kept blazing up against him, but he would lay nothing to heart.72

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
