Chapter 11 of HebrewsNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Faith1 is the assured expectation[a] of things hoped2 for, the evident demonstration[b] of realities[c] though not beheld.3
  2. For by means of this the men of old times[d] had witness borne to them.4
  3. ¶ By faith we perceive that the systems of things[e]5 were put in order[f] by God’s word,6 so that what is beheld has come to be out of things that do not appear.7
  4. ¶ By faith Abel offered God a sacrifice of greater worth than Cain,8 through which [faith] he had witness borne to him that he was righteous, God bearing witness9 respecting his gifts; and through it he, although he died, yet speaks.10
  5. ¶ By faith Eʹnoch11 was transferred so as not to see death, and he was nowhere to be found because God had transferred him;12 for before his transference he had the witness that he had pleased God well.13
  6. Moreover, without faith14 it is impossible to please [him] well,15 for he that approaches God must believe that he is16 and that he becomes the rewarder[g]17 of those earnestly seeking him.18
  7. ¶ By faith Noah,19 after being given divine warning of things not yet beheld,20 showed godly fear and constructed an ark21 for the saving of his household; and through this [faith] he condemned the world,22 and he became an heir of the righteousness23 that is according to faith.
  8. ¶ By faith Abraham,24 when he was called, obeyed in going out into a place he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went out, although not knowing where he was going.25
  9. By faith he resided as an alien in the land of the promise as in a foreign land,26 and dwelt in tents27 with Isaac28 and Jacob,29 the heirs with him of the very same promise.30
  10. For he was awaiting the city31 having real foundations, the builder[h] and maker of which [city] is God.32
  11. ¶ By faith also Sarah33 herself received power to conceive seed, even when she was past the age limit,34 since she esteemed him faithful who had promised.35
  12. Hence also from one [man],36 and him as good as dead,37 there were born [children] just as the stars of heaven for multitude and as the sands that are by the seaside, innumerable.38
  13. ¶ In faith all these died,39 although they did not get the [fulfillment of the] promises,40 but they saw them afar off41 and welcomed[i] them and publicly declared that they were strangers and temporary residents in the land.42
  14. For those who say such things give evidence that they are earnestly seeking a place of their own.43
  15. And yet, if they had indeed kept remembering that [place] from which they had gone forth,44 they would have had opportunity to return.45
  16. But now they are reaching out for a better [place], that is, one belonging to heaven.46 Hence God is not ashamed of them, to be called upon as their God,47 for he has made a city48 ready for them.
  17. ¶ By faith Abraham, when he was tested,49 as good as offered[j] up Isaac, and the man that had gladly received the promises attempted[k] to offer up [his] only-begotten [son],50
  18. although it had been said to him: “What will be called ‘your seed’ will be through Isaac.”51
  19. But he reckoned that God was able to raise him up even from the dead;52 and from there he did receive him also in an illustrative way.[l]53
  20. ¶ By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob54 and Eʹsau55 concerning things to come.
  21. ¶ By faith Jacob, when about to die,56 blessed each of the sons of Joseph57 and worshiped leaning[m] upon the top of his staff.58
  22. ¶ By faith Joseph, nearing his end, made mention of the exodus59 of the sons of Israel; and he gave a command concerning his bones.60
  23. ¶ By faith Moses was hid for three months by his parents after his birth,61 because they saw the young child was beautiful62 and they did not fear the order63 of the king.
  24. By faith Moses, when grown up,64 refused[n] to be called the son of the daughter of Pharʹaoh,65
  25. choosing to be ill-treated with the people of God rather than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin,
  26. because he esteemed the reproach66 of the Christ[o] as riches greater than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked intently toward the payment of the reward.67
  27. By faith he left Egypt,68 but not fearing the anger of the king,69 for he continued steadfast as seeing the One who is invisible.70
  28. By faith he had celebrated[p] the passover[q]71 and the splashing of the blood,72 that the destroyer might not touch their firstborn ones.73
  29. ¶ By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land,74 but on venturing out upon it the Egyptians were swallowed up.75
  30. ¶ By faith the walls of Jerʹi·cho fell down after they had been encircled[r] for seven days.76
  31. By faith Raʹhab77 the harlot did not perish with those who acted disobediently, because she received the spies in a peaceable way.78
  32. ¶ And what more shall I say? For the time will fail me if I go on to relate about Gidʹe·on,79 Baʹrak,80 Samson,81 Jephʹthah,82 David83 as well as Samuel84 and the [other] prophets,85
  33. who through faith defeated kingdoms in conflict,86 effected righteousness,87 obtained promises,88 stopped the mouths of lions,89
  34. stayed the force of fire,90 escaped the edge[s] of the sword,91 from a weak state were made powerful,92 became valiant in war,93 routed the armies of foreigners.94
  35. Women received their dead by resurrection;95 but other [men] were tortured because they would not accept release by some ransom, in order that they might attain a better resurrection.
  36. Yes, others received their trial by mockings and scourgings, indeed, more than that, by bonds96 and prisons.97
  37. They were stoned,98 they were tried,99 they were sawn asunder, they died100 by slaughter with the sword, they went about in sheepskins,101 in goatskins, while they were in want,102 in tribulation,103 under ill-treatment;104
  38. and the world was not worthy of them. They wandered about in deserts and mountains and caves105 and dens of the earth.
  39. ¶ And yet all these, although they had witness borne to them through their faith, did not get the [fulfillment of the] promise,106
  40. as God foresaw[t] something better107 for us,108 in order that they109 might not be made perfect110 apart from us.111

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
