Chapter 47 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Accordingly Joseph came and reported to Pharʹaoh and said:1 “My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all they have have come from the land of Caʹnaan, and here they are in the land of Goʹshen.”2
  2. And from the whole number of his brothers he took five men, that he might present them to Pharʹaoh.3
  3. ¶ Then Pharʹaoh said to his brothers: “What is YOUR occupation?”4 So they said to Pharʹaoh: “Your servants are herders of sheep,5 both we and our forefathers.”6
  4. After that they said to Pharʹaoh: “We have come to reside as aliens in the land,7 because there is no pasturage for the flock that your servants have,8 for the famine is severe in the land of Caʹnaan.9 And now let your servants dwell, please, in the land of Goʹshen.”10
  5. At that Pharʹaoh said to Joseph: “Your father and your brothers have come here to you.
  6. The land of Egypt is at your disposal.11 Have your father and your brothers dwell in the very best of the land.12 Let them dwell in the land of Goʹshen,13 and if you know that there are among them courageous men,[a]14 you must appoint them cattle chiefs[b] over what is mine.”15
  7. ¶ Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father and introduced him to Pharʹaoh, and Jacob proceeded to bless Pharʹaoh.16
  8. Pharʹaoh now said to Jacob: “How many are the days of the years of your life?”
  9. So Jacob said to Pharʹaoh: “The days of the years of my alien residences are a hundred and thirty years.17 Few and distressing the days of the years of my life have proved,18 and they have not reached the days of the years of the lives of my fathers in the days of their alien residences.”19
  10. After that Jacob blessed Pharʹaoh and went out from before Pharʹaoh.20
  11. ¶ Thus Joseph had his father and his brothers dwell and he gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the very best of the land, in the land of Ramʹe·ses,21 just as Pharʹaoh had commanded.
  12. And Joseph kept supplying his father and his brothers and the entire household of his father with bread,22 according to the number of the little ones.[c]23
  13. ¶ Now there was no bread in all the land, because the famine was very severe;24 and the land of Egypt and the land of Caʹnaan became exhausted as a result of the famine.25
  14. And Joseph went on picking up all the money that was to be found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Caʹnaan for the cereals which people were buying;26 and Joseph kept bringing the money into Pharʹaoh’s house.
  15. In time the money from the land of Egypt and the land of Caʹnaan was spent, and all the Egyptians began coming to Joseph, saying: “Give us bread!27 And why should we die in front of you because money has run out?”28
  16. Then Joseph said: “Hand over YOUR livestock and I shall give YOU bread in exchange for YOUR livestock, if money has run out.”
  17. And they began bringing their livestock to Joseph; and Joseph kept giving them bread in exchange for their horses[d] and the livestock of the flock and the livestock of the herd and the asses,29 and he kept providing them with bread in exchange for all their livestock during that year.
  18. ¶ Gradually that year came to its close, and they began coming to him in the next[e] year and saying to him: “We shall not hide it from my lord but the money and the stock of domestic animals have been spent to my lord.30 There remains nothing before my lord but our bodies and our land.31
  19. Why should we die before your eyes,32 both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread,33 and we together with our land will become slaves to Pharʹaoh; and give us seed that we may live and not die and our land not be laid desolate.”34
  20. So Joseph bought all the land of the Egyptians for Pharʹaoh,35 because the Egyptians sold each one his field, for the famine had got a strong grip on them; and the land came to be Pharʹaoh’s.
  21. ¶ As for the people, he removed them into cities from one end of the territory of Egypt to its other end.36
  22. Only the land of the priests he did not buy,37 because the rations for the priests were from Pharʹaoh and they ate their rations that Pharʹaoh gave them.38 That is why they did not sell their land.39
  23. Then Joseph said to the people: “See, I have today bought YOU and YOUR land for Pharʹaoh. Here is seed for YOU, and YOU must sow the land with it.40
  24. When it has resulted in produce,41 then YOU must give a fifth to Pharʹaoh,42 but four parts will become YOURS as seed for the field and as food for YOU and for those who are in YOUR houses and for YOUR little ones to eat.”43
  25. Consequently they said: “You have preserved our lives.44 Let us find favor in the eyes of my lord, and we will become slaves to Pharʹaoh.”45
  26. And Joseph proceeded to make it a decree down to this day over the landed estate of Egypt for Pharʹaoh to have to the amount of a fifth. Only the land of the priests as a distinct group did not become Pharʹaoh’s.46
  27. ¶ And Israel continued to dwell in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goʹshen;47 and they became settled in it and were fruitful and grew to be very many.48
  28. And Jacob lived on in the land of Egypt for seventeen years, so that Jacob’s days, the years of his life, came to be a hundred and forty-seven years.49
  29. ¶ Gradually the days approached for Israel to die.50 So he called his son Joseph and said to him: “If, now, I have found favor in your eyes, place your hand, please, under my thigh,51 and you must exercise loving-kindness and trustworthiness[f] toward me.52 (Please, do not bury me in Egypt.)53
  30. And I must lie with my fathers,54 and you must carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their grave.”55 Accordingly he said: “I myself shall do in keeping with your word.”
  31. Then he said: “Swear to me.” So he swore to him.56 At that Israel prostrated himself over the head of the couch.[g]57

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
