Chapter 39 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ As for Joseph, he was brought down to Egypt,1 and Potʹi·phar,2 a court official of Pharʹaoh,[a] the chief of the bodyguard, an Egyptian, got to buy him from the hand of the Ishʹma·el·ites3 who had brought him down there.
  2. But Jehovah proved to be with Joseph, so that he turned out a successful man4 and came to be over the house of his master,[b] the Egyptian.
  3. And his master got to see that Jehovah was with him and that everything he was doing Jehovah was making turn out successful in his hand.
  4. ¶ And Joseph kept finding favor in his eyes and waited upon him continually, so that he appointed him over his house,5 and all that was his he gave into his hand.
  5. And it followed that from the time he appointed him over his house and in charge of all that was his Jehovah kept blessing the house of the Egyptian due to Joseph, and Jehovah’s blessing came to be upon all that he had in the house and in the field.6
  6. Finally he left everything that was his in Joseph’s hand;7 and he did not know what was with him at all except the bread he was eating. Moreover, Joseph grew to be beautiful in form and beautiful in appearance.
  7. ¶ Now after these things it came about that the wife of his master began to raise her eyes8 toward Joseph and say: “Lie down with me.”9
  8. But he would refuse10 and would say to his master’s wife: “Here my master does not know what is with me in the house, and everything he has he has given into my hand.11
  9. There is no one greater in this house than I am, and he has not withheld from me anything at all except you, because you are his wife.12 So how could I commit this great badness and actually sin against God?”13
  10. ¶ So it turned out that as she spoke to Joseph day after day he never listened to her to lie alongside her, to continue with her.14
  11. But it happened that on this day as other days[c] he went into the house to do his business, and there was none of the men of the house there in the house.15
  12. Then she grabbed hold of him by his garment,16 saying: “Lie down with me!”17 But he left his garment in her hand and took to flight and went on outside.18
  13. So it occurred that as soon as she saw that he had left his garment in her hand that he might flee outside,
  14. she began to cry out to the men of her house and to say to them: “Look! He brought to us a man, a Hebrew, to make us a laughingstock. He came to me to lie down with me, but I began to cry out at the top of my voice.19
  15. And it followed that as soon as he heard that I raised my voice and began crying out, he then left his garment beside me and took to flight and went on outside.”
  16. After that she kept his garment laid up beside her until his master came to his house.20
  17. ¶ Then she spoke to him according to these words, saying: “The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came to me to make me a laughingstock.[d]
  18. But it followed that as soon as I raised my voice and began to cry out, he then left his garment beside me and went fleeing outside.”21
  19. The result was that as soon as his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying: “Like this and this your servant did to me,” his anger blazed.22
  20. So Joseph’s master took him and gave him over to the prison house,[e] the place where the prisoners[f] of the king were kept under arrest,[g] and he continued there in the prison house.23
  21. ¶ However, Jehovah continued with Joseph and kept extending loving-kindness to him and granting him to find favor in the eyes of the chief officer[h] of the prison house.24
  22. So the chief officer of the prison house gave over into Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison house; and everything that they were doing there he proved to be the one having it done.25
  23. The chief officer of the prison house was looking after absolutely nothing that was in his hand, because Jehovah was with [Joseph][i] and what he was doing Jehovah was making it turn out successful.26

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.
