Chapter 30 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ When Rachel came to see that she had borne nothing to Jacob, Rachel got jealous of her sister and began to say to Jacob:1 “Give me children or otherwise I shall be a dead woman.”2
  2. At this Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel and he said:3 “Am I in the place of God, who has held back the fruit of the belly from you?”4
  3. So she said: “Here is my slave girl Bilʹhah.5 Have relations with her, that she may give birth upon my knees and that I, even I, may get children from her.”6
  4. With that she gave him Bilʹhah her maidservant as wife, and Jacob had relations with her.7
  5. And Bilʹhah became pregnant and in time bore Jacob a son.8
  6. Then Rachel said: “God has acted as my judge9 and has also listened to my voice, so that he gave me a son.” That is why she called his name Dan.[a]10
  7. And Bilʹhah, Rachel’s maidservant, became pregnant once more and in time bore a second son to Jacob.
  8. Then Rachel said: “With strenuous[b] wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister. I have also come off winner!” So she called his name Naphʹta·li.[c]11
  9. ¶ When Leʹah came to see that she had left off giving birth, she proceeded to take Zilʹpah her maidservant and to give her to Jacob as wife.12
  10. In time Zilʹpah, Leʹah’s maidservant, bore a son to Jacob.
  11. Then Leʹah said: “With good fortune!”[d] So she called his name Gad.[e]13
  12. After that Zilʹpah, Leʹah’s maidservant, bore a second son to Jacob.
  13. Then Leʹah said: “With my happiness! For the daughters will certainly pronounce me happy.”14 So she called his name Ashʹer.[f]15
  14. ¶ Now Reuʹben16 went walking in the days of the wheat harvest17 and got to find mandrakes in the field. So he brought them to Leʹah his mother. Then Rachel said to Leʹah: “Give me, please, some of your son’s mandrakes.”18
  15. At this she said to her: “Is this a little thing, your having taken my husband,19 with your now taking also my son’s mandrakes?” So Rachel said: “For that reason he is going to lie down with you tonight in exchange for your son’s mandrakes.”
  16. ¶ When Jacob was coming from the field in the evening,20 Leʹah went on out to meet him and then said: “It is with me you are going to have relations, because I have hired you outright with my son’s mandrakes.” Accordingly he lay down with her that night.21
  17. And God heard and answered Leʹah and she became pregnant and in time bore to Jacob a fifth son.22
  18. Then Leʹah said: “God has given me a hireling’s wages,[g] because I have given my maidservant to my husband.” So she called his name Isʹsa·char.[h]23
  19. And Leʹah became pregnant once more and in time bore a sixth son to Jacob.24
  20. Then Leʹah said: “God has endowed me, yes, me, with a good endowment. At last my husband will tolerate[i] me,[j]25 because I have borne him six sons.”26 So she called his name Zebʹu·lun.[k]27
  21. And afterward she bore a daughter and then called her name Diʹnah.[l]28
  22. ¶ Finally God remembered Rachel, and God heard and answered her in that he opened her womb.29
  23. And she became pregnant and brought a son to birth. Then she said: “God has taken away my reproach!”30
  24. So she called his name Joseph,[m]31 saying: “Jehovah is adding another son to me.”
  25. ¶ And it followed that when Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob immediately said to Laʹban: “Send me away that I may go to my place and to my country.32
  26. Give over my wives and my children, for whom I have served with you, that I may go; for you yourself must know my service which I have rendered you.”33
  27. Then Laʹban said to him: “If, now, I have found favor in your eyes,—I have taken the omens to the effect that Jehovah is blessing me due to you.”34
  28. And he added: “Stipulate your wages to me and I shall give them.”35
  29. So he said to him: “You yourself must know how I have served you and how your herd has fared with me;36
  30. that it was little that you actually had before my coming, and it went expanding to a multitude, in that Jehovah blessed you since I stepped in.37 So now when am I to do something also for my own house?”38
  31. ¶ Then he said: “What shall I give you?” And Jacob went on to say: “You will give me nothing whatsoever!39 If you will do this thing for me, I shall resume shepherding your flock.40 I shall continue guarding it.41
  32. I will pass among your whole flock today. You set aside from there every sheep speckled and with color patches, and every dark-brown sheep among the young rams and any color-patched and speckled one among the she-goats. Hereafter such must be my wages.42
  33. And my right-doing must answer for me on whatever future day you may come to look over my wages;43 every one that is not speckled and color-patched among the she-goats and dark brown among the young rams is something stolen if it is with me.”44
  34. ¶ To this Laʹban said: “Why, that is fine![n] Let it be according to your word.”45
  35. Then he set aside on that day the he-goats striped and color-patched and all the she-goats speckled and color-patched, every one in which there was any white and every one dark brown among the young rams, but he gave them over into the hands of his sons.
  36. After that he set a distance of three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob was shepherding the flocks of Laʹban that remained over.
  37. ¶ Then Jacob took for his use staffs[o] still moist of the storax tree46 and of the almond tree47 and of the plane tree48 and peeled in them white peeled spots by laying bare white places which were upon the staffs.49
  38. Finally the staffs that he had peeled he placed in front of the flock, in the gutters, in the water drinking troughs,50 where the flocks would come to drink, that they might get into a heat[p] before them when they came to drink.
  39. ¶ Consequently the flocks would get in heat before the staffs, and the flocks would produce striped, speckled and color-patched ones.51
  40. And Jacob separated the young rams and then turned the faces of the flocks to the striped ones and all the dark-brown ones among the flocks of Laʹban. Then he set his own droves by themselves and did not set them by the flocks of Laʹban.
  41. And it always occurred that whenever the robust52 flocks would get in heat, Jacob would locate the staffs in the gutters53 before the eyes of the flocks, that they might get in heat by the staffs.
  42. But when the flocks showed feebleness he would not locate them there. So the feeble ones always came to be Laʹban’s, but the robust ones Jacob’s.54
  43. ¶ And the man went on increasing more and more, and great flocks and maidservants and menservants and camels and asses came to be his.55

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

When i do read some comments and seeing that its the same people that are supposed to be called believers but are talking ill of other denominations, it hurts. Let us all remember that We should judge not

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
