Chapter 27 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now it came about that when Isaac was old and his eyes were too dim to see1 he then called Eʹsau his older son and said to him:2 “My son!” at which he said to him: “Here I am!”
  2. And he went on to say: “Here, now, I have become old.3 I do not know the day of my death.4
  3. So at this time take, please, your implements, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt some venison for me.5
  4. Then make me a tasty dish such as I am fond of and bring it to me and, ah, let me eat, in order that my soul may bless you before I die.”6
  5. ¶ However, Re·bekʹah was listening while Isaac spoke to Eʹsau his son. And Eʹsau went on out into the field to hunt game and to bring it in.7
  6. And Re·bekʹah said to Jacob her son:8 “Here I just heard your father speaking to Eʹsau your brother, saying,
  7. ‘Bring me some game and make me a tasty dish and, ah, let me eat, that I may bless you before Jehovah before my death.’9
  8. And now, my son, listen to my voice in what I am commanding you.10
  9. Go, please, to the herd and get me from there two kids of the goats, good ones, that I may make them up into a tasty dish for your father such as he is fond of.
  10. Then you must bring it to your father and he must eat it, in order that he may bless you before his death.”
  11. ¶ And Jacob proceeded to say to Re·bekʹah his mother: “But Eʹsau my brother is a hairy man and I am a smooth man.11
  12. What if my father feels me?12 Then I shall certainly become in his eyes like one making a mockery,13 and I shall certainly bring upon myself a malediction and not a blessing.”14
  13. At this his mother said to him: “Upon me be the malediction meant for you, my son.15 Only listen to my voice and go, get them for me.”16
  14. Accordingly he went and got them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made a tasty dish such as his father was fond of.
  15. After that Re·bekʹah took garments of Eʹsau her older son,17 the most desirable ones which were with her in the house,18 and put them on Jacob her younger son.19
  16. And the skins of the kids of the goats she put upon his hands and upon the hairless part of his neck.20
  17. Then she gave the tasty dish and the bread that she had made into the hand of Jacob her son.21
  18. ¶ So he went on in to his father and said: “My father!” to which he said: “Here I am! Who are you, my son?”
  19. And Jacob went on to say to his father: “I am Eʹsau your firstborn.22 I have done just as you have spoken to me. Raise yourself up, please. Sit down and eat some of my game, in order that your soul may bless me.”23
  20. At that Isaac said to his son: “How is it that you have been so quick in finding it, my son?” In turn he said: “Because Jehovah your God caused it to meet up with me.”
  21. Then Isaac said to Jacob: “Come near, please, that I may feel you, my son, to know whether you are really my son Eʹsau or not.”24
  22. So Jacob came near to Isaac his father, and he went feeling him, after which he said: “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Eʹsau.”25
  23. And he did not recognize him, because his hands proved to be hairy like the hands of Eʹsau his brother. Hence he blessed him.26
  24. ¶ After that he said: “You are really my son Eʹsau?” to which he said: “I am.”27
  25. Then he said: “Bring it near to me that I may eat some of the game of my son, to the end that my soul may bless you.”28 With that he brought it near to him and he began to eat, and he brought him wine and he began to drink.
  26. Then Isaac his father said to him: “Come near, please, and kiss me, my son.”29
  27. So he came near and kissed him, and he could smell the scent of his garments.30 And he proceeded to bless him and to say:
¶ “See, the scent of my son is like the scent of the field which Jehovah has blessed.
  28. And may the [true] God give you the dews of the heavens31 and the fertile soils[a] of the earth32 and an abundance of grain and new wine.33
  29. Let peoples serve you and let national groups bow low to you.34 Become master over your brothers, and let the sons of your mother bow low to you.35 Cursed be each one of those cursing you, and blessed be each one of those blessing you.”36
  30. ¶ Now it came about as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, yes, it indeed came about when Jacob had barely come out from before the face of Isaac his father, that Eʹsau his brother came back from his hunting.37
  31. And he too went about making a tasty dish. Then he brought it to his father and said to his father: “Let my father get up and eat some of his son’s game, in order that your soul may bless me.”38
  32. At this Isaac his father said to him: “Who are you?” to which he said: “I am your son, your firstborn, Eʹsau.”39
  33. And Isaac began to shake with a great trembling in extreme measure, and so he said: “Who, then, was it that hunted for game and came bringing it to me, so that I ate of everything before you could come in and I blessed him? Blessed too he will become!”[b]40
  34. ¶ On hearing his father’s words Eʹsau began to cry out in an extremely loud and bitter manner and to say to his father:41 “Bless me, even me too, my father!”42
  35. But he went on to say: “Your brother came with deception that he might get the blessing meant for you.”43
  36. At this he said: “Is that not why his name is called Jacob,[c] in that he should supplant me these two times?44 My birthright he has already taken,45 and here at this time he has taken my blessing!”46 Then he added: “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”
  37. But in answer to Eʹsau Isaac continued: “Here I have appointed him master over you,47 and all his brothers I have given to him as servants,48 and grain and new wine I have bestowed for his support,49 and where is there anything I can do for you, my son?”
  38. ¶ Then Eʹsau said to his father: “Is there just one blessing that you have, my father? Bless me, even me too, my father!”50 With that Eʹsau raised his voice and burst into tears.51
  39. So in answer Isaac his father said to him:
¶ “Behold, away from the fertile soils of the earth your dwelling will be found, and away from the dew of the heavens above.52
  40. And by your sword you will live,53 and your brother you will serve.54 But it will certainly occur that, when you grow restless, you will indeed break his yoke off your neck.”55
  41. ¶ However, Eʹsau harbored animosity for Jacob on account of the blessing with which his father had blessed him,56 and Eʹsau kept saying in his heart:57 “The days of the period of mourning for my father are getting closer.58 After that I am going to kill Jacob my brother.”59
  42. When the words of Eʹsau her older son were told to Re·bekʹah, she at once sent and called Jacob her younger son and said to him: “Look! Eʹsau your brother is comforting himself[d] in regard to you—to kill you.60
  43. Now, then, my son, listen to my voice and get up,61 run away to Laʹban my brother at Haʹran.62
  44. And you must dwell with him for some days until the rage of your brother calms down,63
  45. until the anger of your brother turns away from you and he has forgotten what you have done to him.64 And I shall certainly send and get you from there. Why should I be bereaved also of both of YOU in one day?”
  46. ¶ After that Re·bekʹah kept saying to Isaac: “I have come to abhor this life of mine because of the daughters of Heth.65 If Jacob ever takes a wife from the daughters of Heth like these from the daughters of the land, of what good[e] is life to me?”66

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
