Chapter 24 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now Abraham was old, advanced in years;[a] and Jehovah had blessed Abraham in everything.1
  2. Hence Abraham said to his servant, the oldest one of his household, who was managing[b] all he had:2 “Put your hand, please, under my thigh,3
  3. as I must have you swear by Jehovah,4 the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Caʹnaan·ites in among whom I am dwelling,5
  4. but you will go to my country and to my relatives,6 and you will certainly take a wife for my son, for Isaac.”
  5. ¶ However, the servant said to him: “What if the woman does not wish to come with me to this land? Must I be sure to return your son to the land from where you went out?”7
  6. At this Abraham said to him: “Be on your guard that you do not return my son there.8
  7. Jehovah the God of the heavens, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my relatives[c]9 and who spoke to me and who swore to me,10 saying, ‘To your seed11 I am going to give this land,’12 he will send his angel ahead of you,13 and you will certainly take a wife for my son from there.14
  8. But if the woman should not wish to come with you, you also will have become free from this oath you gave me.15 Only you must not return my son there.”
  9. With that the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him concerning this matter.16
  10. ¶ So the servant took ten camels from the camels of his master and proceeded to go with every sort of good thing of his master’s in his hand.17 Then he rose and got on his way to Mes·o·po·taʹmi·a[d] to the city of Naʹhor.
  11. Eventually he had the camels kneel down outside the city at a well of water about evening time,18 about the time that the women who draw water were accustomed to go out.19
  12. And he went on to say: “Jehovah the God of my master Abraham,20 cause it to happen, please, before me this day and perform loving-kindness21 with my master Abraham.22
  13. Here I am stationed at a fountain of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.23
  14. What must occur is that the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Let your water jar down, please, that I may take a drink,’ and who will indeed say, ‘Take a drink, and I shall also water your camels,’ this is the one you must assign to your servant,24 to Isaac; and by this let me know that you have performed loyal love with my master.”25
  15. ¶ Well, it came about that before he had finished speaking,26 why, here coming out was Re·bekʹah, who had been born to Be·thuʹel27 the son of Milʹcah28 the wife of Naʹhor,29 Abraham’s brother, and her water jar was upon her shoulder.30
  16. Now the young woman[e] was very attractive in appearance,31 a virgin,[f] and no man had had sexual intercourse with her;32 and she made her way down to the fountain and began to fill her water jar and then came up.
  17. At once the servant ran to meet her and said: “Give me, please, a little sip of water from your jar.”33
  18. In turn she said: “Drink, my lord.” With that she quickly lowered her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink.34
  19. When she was finished giving him a drink, then she said: “For your camels too I shall draw water until they are done drinking.”35
  20. So she quickly emptied her jar into the drinking trough and ran yet again and again to the well to draw water,36 and kept drawing for all his camels.
  21. All the while the man was gazing at her in wonder, keeping silent to know whether Jehovah had made his trip successful or not.37
  22. ¶ Consequently it came about that, when the camels had finished drinking, then the man took a gold nose ring38 of a half shekel[g] in weight and two bracelets39 for her hands, ten shekels of gold was their weight,
  23. and he went on to say: “Whose daughter are you? Tell me, please. Is there any room at the house of your father for us to spend the night?”40
  24. At that she said to him: “I am the daughter of Be·thuʹel41 the son of Milʹcah, whom she bore to Naʹhor.”42
  25. And she said further to him: “There is both straw and much fodder with us, also a place to spend the night.”43
  26. And the man proceeded to bow down and prostrate himself before Jehovah44
  27. and say: “Blessed be Jehovah45 the God of my master Abraham, who has not left his loving-kindness and his trustworthiness toward my master. I being on the way, Jehovah has led me to the house of the brothers of my master.”46
  28. ¶ And the young woman went running and telling the household of her mother about these things.
  29. Now Re·bekʹah had a brother and his name was Laʹban.47 So Laʹban went running to the man who was outside at the fountain.
  30. And it came about that on seeing the nose ring and the bracelets48 on the hands of his sister and on hearing the words of Re·bekʹah his sister, saying: “This is the way the man spoke to me,” then he came to the man and there he was, standing by the camels at the fountain.
  31. At once he said: “Come, you blessed one of Jehovah.49 Why do you keep standing out here, when I myself have made the house ready and room for the camels?”
  32. With that the man came on into the house, and he went unharnessing the camels and giving straw and fodder to the camels and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.50
  33. Then something to eat was set before him, but he said: “I shall not eat until I have spoken about my matters.” Hence he said: “Speak!”51
  34. ¶ Then he went on to say: “I am Abraham’s servant.52
  35. And Jehovah has blessed my master very much in that he goes on making him greater and giving him sheep and cattle and silver and gold and menservants and maidservants and camels and asses.53
  36. Further, Sarah the wife of my master bore a son to my master after her growing old;54 and he will give him everything he has.55
  37. So my master made me swear, saying, ‘You must not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Caʹnaan·ites in whose land I am dwelling.56
  38. No, but you will go to the house of my father and to my family57 and you must take a wife for my son.’58
  39. But I said to my master, ‘What if the woman will not come with me?’59
  40. Then he said to me, ‘Jehovah, before whom I have walked,60 will send his angel61 with you and will certainly give success to your way;62 and you must take a wife for my son from my family and from the house of my father.63
  41. At that time you will be cleared of obligation to me by oath[h] when you get to my family, and if they will not give her to you, then you shall become free of obligation to me by oath.’64
  42. ¶ “When I got to the fountain today, then I said, ‘Jehovah the God of my master Abraham, if you are really giving success to my way on which I am going,65
  43. here I am stationed at a fountain of water. What must occur is that the maiden[i]66 coming out to draw water to whom I shall actually say: “Please, let me drink a little water from your jar,”
  44. and who will indeed say to me: “Both you take a drink, and I shall also draw water for your camels,” she is the woman whom Jehovah has assigned for the son of my master.’67
  45. ¶ “Before I was finished speaking68 in my heart,69 why, there was Re·bekʹah coming out, with her jar upon her shoulder; and she made her way down to the fountain and began to draw water.70 Then I said to her, ‘Give me a drink, please.’71
  46. So she quickly lowered her jar from off her and said, ‘Take a drink,72 and I shall also water your camels.’ Then I took a drink, and she also watered the camels.
  47. After that I asked her and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’73 to which she said, ‘The daughter of Be·thuʹel the son of Naʹhor, whom Milʹcah bore to him.’ Accordingly I put the nose ring on her nostril and the bracelets on her hands.74
  48. And I proceeded to bow down and prostrate myself before Jehovah and bless Jehovah the God of my master Abraham,75 who had led me in the true way76 to take the daughter of the brother of my master for his son.
  49. And now if YOU are actually exercising loving-kindness and trustworthiness toward my master,77 tell me; but if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand or to the left.”78
  50. ¶ Then Laʹban and Be·thuʹel answered and said: “From Jehovah this thing has issued.79 We are unable to speak bad or good to you.80
  51. Here is Re·bekʹah before you. Take her and go, and let her become a wife to the son of your master, just as Jehovah has spoken.”81
  52. And it came about that when Abraham’s servant had heard their words, he at once prostrated himself on the earth before Jehovah.82
  53. And the servant began to bring out articles of silver and articles of gold and garments and to give them to Re·bekʹah; and he gave choice things to her brother and to her mother.83
  54. After that they ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and they spent the night there and got up in the morning.
¶ Then he said: “SEND me off to my master.”84
  55. To this her brother and her mother said: “Let the young woman[j] stay with us at least ten days.[k] Afterward she can go.”
  56. But he said to them: “Do not detain me, seeing that Jehovah has given success to my way.85 Send me off, that I may go to my master.”86
  57. So they said: “Let us call the young woman and inquire at her mouth.”87
  58. Then they called Re·bekʹah and said to her: “Will you go with this man?” In turn she said: “I am willing to go.”88
  59. ¶ At that they sent off Re·bekʹah89 their sister and her nurse90 and Abraham’s servant and his men.
  60. And they began to bless Re·bekʹah and say to her: “O you, our sister, may you become thousands times ten thousand,[l] and let your seed take possession of the gate[m] of those who hate it.”[n]91
  61. After that Re·bekʹah and her lady attendants[o]92 rose and they went riding on the camels93 and following the man; and the servant took Re·bekʹah and got on his way.
  62. ¶ Now Isaac had come from the way that goes to Beʹer-laʹhai-roi,94 for he was dwelling in the land of the Negʹeb.95
  63. And Isaac was out walking in order to meditate[p]96 in the field at about the falling of evening. When he raised his eyes and looked, why, there camels were coming!
  64. When Re·bekʹah raised her eyes, she caught sight of Isaac and she swung herself down from off the camel.
  65. Then she said to the servant: “Who is that man there walking in the field to meet us?” and the servant said: “It is my master.” And she proceeded to take a headcloth and to cover herself.97
  66. And the servant went relating to Isaac all the things he had done.
  67. After that Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother.98 Thus he took Re·bekʹah and she became his wife;99 and he fell in love with her,100 and Isaac found comfort after the loss of his mother.[q]101

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!

I live in Dover, Delaware. My boyfriend Juan Tover and I have been dating for the past 4 yrs we were to get married in September of this year but it never happened..he constantly messes around with his ex's and other females every time he got caught he apologized and tell me to forgive him and I keep taking him back because I'm truly in love with this man but after a while he started messing around again...what can I do to make this man to love me and stop the messing around so we could get married and start our family? I am very happy I contacted Priest Salami regarding my problem. My boyfriend is now my HUSBAND. We got married 2 weeks ago in the United Church in Dover. My problem was solved. I am extremely happy to put his email purenaturalhealer@gmail.com  to anyone out there looking to solve his/her relationship problem. You can also WhatsApp him with his mobile number +2348105150446
