Chapter 19 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Now the two angels arrived at Sodʹom by evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodʹom.1 When Lot caught sight of them, then he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the earth.2
  2. And he proceeded to say: “Please, now, my lords, turn aside, please, into the house of YOUR servant and stay overnight and have YOUR feet washed.3 Then YOU must get up early and travel on YOUR way.”4 To this they said: “No, but in the public square is where we shall stay overnight.”5
  3. But he was very insistent with them,6 so that they turned aside to him and came into his house. Then he made a feast for them,7 and he baked unfermented cakes,8 and they went to eating.
  4. ¶ Before they could lie down, the men of the city, the men of Sodʹom, surrounded the house,9 from boy to old man, all the people in one mob.[a]10
  5. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: “Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.”11
  6. ¶ Finally Lot went out to them to the entrance, but he shut the door behind him.
  7. Then he said: “Please, my brothers, do not act badly.12
  8. Please, here I have two daughters who have never had intercourse with a man.13 Please, let me bring them out to YOU. Then do to them as is good in YOUR eyes.14 Only to these men do not do a thing,15 because that is why they have come under the shadow of my roof.”16
  9. At this they said: “Stand back there!” And they added: “This lone man came here to reside as an alien17 and yet he would actually play the judge.18 Now we are going to do worse to you than to them.” And they came pressing heavily in on the man,19 on Lot, and were getting near to break in the door.20
  10. So the men thrust out their hands and brought Lot in to them, into the house, and they shut the door.
  11. But they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house,21 from the least to the greatest,22 so that they were wearing themselves out trying to find the entrance.23
  12. ¶ Then the men said to Lot: “Do you have anyone else here? Son-in-law and your sons and your daughters and all who are yours in the city, bring out of the place!24
  13. For we are bringing this place to ruin, because the outcry against them has grown loud before Jehovah,25 so that Jehovah sent us to bring the city[b] to ruin.”26
  14. Hence Lot went on out and began to speak to his sons-in-law who were to take[c] his daughters, and he kept on saying: “Get up! Get out of this place, because Jehovah is bringing the city to ruin!”27 But in the eyes of his sons-in-law he seemed like a man who was joking.28
  15. ¶ However, when the dawn ascended, then the angels became urgent with Lot, saying: “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are found here,29 for fear you may be swept away in the error of the city!”30
  16. When he kept lingering,31 then in the compassion of Jehovah upon him,32 the men seized hold of his hand and of the hand of his wife and of the hands of his two daughters and they proceeded to bring him out and to station him outside the city.33
  17. And it came about that, as soon as they had brought them forth to the outskirts, he[d] began to say: “Escape for your soul!34 Do not look behind you35 and do not stand still in all the District![e]36 Escape to the mountainous region for fear you may be swept away!”37
  18. ¶ Then Lot said to them: “Not that, please, Jehovah![f]
  19. Please, now, your servant has found favor in your eyes38 so that you are magnifying your loving-kindness,[g]39 which you have exercised with me to preserve my soul alive,40 but I—I am not able to escape to the mountainous region for fear calamity may keep close to me and I certainly die.41
  20. Please, now, this city is nearby to flee there and it is a small thing.42 May I, please, escape there—is it not a small thing?—and my soul will live on.”43
  21. So he said to him: “Here I do show you consideration to this extent[h] also,44 by my not overthrowing the city of which you have spoken.45
  22. Hurry! Escape there, because I am not able to do a thing until your arriving there!”46 That is why he called the name of the city Zoʹar.[i]47
  23. ¶ The sun had gone forth over the land when Lot arrived at Zoʹar.48
  24. Then Jehovah made it rain sulphur and fire from Jehovah, from the heavens, upon Sodʹom and upon Go·morʹrah.49
  25. So he went ahead overthrowing these cities, even the entire District and all the inhabitants of the cities and the plants of the ground.50
  26. And his wife began to look around from behind him,[j] and she became a pillar of salt.51
  27. ¶ Now Abraham made his way early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Jehovah.52
  28. Then he looked down toward Sodʹom and Go·morʹrah and toward all the land of the District and saw a sight. Why, here thick smoke ascended from the land like the thick smoke of a kiln!53
  29. And it came about that when God brought the cities of the District to ruin God kept Abraham in mind in that he took steps to send Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when overthrowing the cities among which Lot had been dwelling.54
  30. ¶ Later Lot went up from Zoʹar and began dwelling in the mountainous region, and his two daughters along with him,55 because he got afraid of dwelling in Zoʹar.56 So he began dwelling in a cave, he and his two daughters.
  31. And the firstborn proceeded to say to the younger woman: “Our father is old and there is not a man in the land to have relations with us according to the way of the whole earth.57
  32. Come, let us give our father wine to drink58 and let us lie down with him and preserve offspring from our father.”59
  33. ¶ So they kept giving their father wine to drink during that night;60 then the firstborn went in and lay down with her father, but he did not know when she lay down and when she got up.[k]
  34. And it came about on the next day that the firstborn then said to the younger: “Here I lay down with my father last night. Let us give him wine to drink tonight also. Then you go in, lie down with him, and let us preserve offspring from our father.”
  35. So they repeatedly gave their father wine to drink during that night also; then the younger got up and lay down with him, but he did not know when she lay down and when she got up.
  36. And both the daughters of Lot became pregnant from their father.61
  37. In time the firstborn became mother to a son and called his name Moʹab.[l]62 He is the father of Moʹab, to this day.63
  38. As for the younger, she too gave birth to a son and then called his name Ben-amʹmi.[m] He is the father of the sons of Amʹmon,64 to this day.

The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things, and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

Truth is from God and those that follow him. As for lies? John8:44

Kiamia, I noticed you used a modern version of kjv to make your point about the nwt.

Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

Here is kjv col1:15 ¶” Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn OF every creature:“

Now I appeal to your Christian nature to correct your mistake as God is watching each of us, and let us bless the God of Jesus his father.

Kjv 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ….

Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
