Chapter 18 of GenesisNew World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ Afterward Jehovah appeared1 to him among the big trees of Mamʹre,2 while he was sitting at the entrance of the tent about the heat of the day.3
  2. When he raised his eyes,4 then he looked and there three men were standing some distance from him. When he caught sight of them he began running to meet them from the entrance of the tent and proceeded to bow down to the earth.5
  3. Then he said: “Jehovah,[a] if, now, I have found favor in your eyes, please do not pass by your servant.6
  4. Let a little water be taken, please, and YOU must have YOUR feet washed.7 Then recline under the tree.8
  5. And let me get a piece of bread, and refresh YOUR hearts.9 Following that, YOU can pass on, because that is why YOU have passed this way to YOUR servant.” At this they said: “All right. You may do just as you have spoken.”
  6. ¶ So Abraham went hurrying to the tent to Sarah and said: “Hurry! Get three seah[b] measures of fine flour, knead the dough and make round cakes.”10
  7. Next Abraham ran to the herd and proceeded to get a tender and good young bull and to give it to the attendant, and he went hurrying to get it ready.11
  8. He then took butter and milk and the young bull that he had got ready and set it before them.12 Then he himself kept standing by them under the tree as they were eating.13
  9. ¶ They now said to him:[c] “Where is Sarah your wife?”14 To this he said: “Here in the tent!”15
  10. So he continued: “I am surely going to return to you next year at this time,[d] and, look! Sarah your wife will have a son.”16 Now Sarah was listening at the tent entrance, and it was behind the man.
  11. And Abraham and Sarah were old, being advanced in years.17 Sarah had stopped having menstruation.[e]18
  12. Hence Sarah began to laugh inside herself,19 saying: “After I am worn out, shall I really have pleasure, my lord[f] being old besides?”20
  13. Then Jehovah said to Abraham: “Why was it that Sarah laughed, saying, ‘Shall I really and truly give birth although I have become old?’21
  14. Is anything too extraordinary for Jehovah?22 At the appointed time I shall return to you, next year at this time, and Sarah will have a son.”
  15. But Sarah began to deny it, saying: “I did not laugh!” For she was afraid. At this he said: “No! but you did laugh.”23
  16. ¶ Later the men got up from there and looked down toward Sodʹom,24 and Abraham was walking with them to escort them.25
  17. And Jehovah[g] said: “Am I keeping covered from Abraham what I am doing?26
  18. Why, Abraham is surely going to become a nation great and mighty, and all the nations of the earth must bless themselves by means of him.27
  19. For I have become acquainted with him in order that he may command his sons and his household after him so that they shall keep Jehovah’s way to do righteousness and judgment;28 in order that Jehovah may certainly bring upon Abraham what he has spoken about him.”29
  20. ¶ Consequently Jehovah said: “The cry of complaint about Sodʹom and Go·morʹrah,30 yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy.31
  21. I am quite determined to go down that I may see whether they act altogether according to the outcry over it that has come to me, and, if not, I can get to know it.”32
  22. ¶ At this point the men turned from there and got on their way to Sodʹom; but as for Jehovah,33 he was still standing before Abraham.[h]34
  23. Then Abraham approached and began to say: “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?35
  24. Suppose there are fifty righteous men in the midst of the city. Will you, then, sweep them away and not pardon the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are inside it?36
  25. It is unthinkable of you that you are acting in this manner to put to death the righteous man with the wicked one so that it has to occur with the righteous man as it does with the wicked!37 It is unthinkable of you.38 Is the Judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?”39
  26. Then Jehovah said: “If I shall find in Sodʹom fifty righteous men in the midst of the city I will pardon the whole place on their account.”40
  27. But Abraham went on to answer and say: “Please, here I have taken upon myself to speak to Jehovah,[i] whereas I am dust and ashes.41
  28. Suppose the fifty righteous should be lacking five. Will you for the five bring the whole city to ruin?” To this he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin if I find there forty-five.”42
  29. ¶ But yet again he spoke further to him and said: “Suppose forty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not do it on account of the forty.”
  30. But he continued: “May Jehovah,[j] please, not grow hot with anger,43 but let me go on speaking:44 Suppose thirty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not do it if I find thirty there.”
  31. But he continued on: “Please, here I have taken upon myself to speak to Jehovah:[k]45 Suppose twenty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin on account of the twenty.”46
  32. Finally he said: “May Jehovah,[l] please, not grow hot with anger,47 but let me speak just this once:48 Suppose ten are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin on account of the ten.”49
  33. Then Jehovah50 went his way when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

The bible tells us to test the spirits. Satan disguises himself as angel of light. So yes some denomination are not teaching the truth. You are responsible for judging which ones are not. You have to judge the truth at all times. this is what the bible teaches

The NWT is a very good translation. Dr. Jason David BeDuhn PhD attests to that in his book Truth in Translation. drive.google.com/...5p16melHzg8/view

The NWT is Satanic filth to its very core.

The JW Cult is Satanic to its very core.

Praise Yahweh I will never be a victim of JW brainwashing. If I burn in Hell for eternity or I am ultimately annihilated so be it

May Yahweh's curse rest on the Watchtower Society and its Satanic leadership

NWT is a false translation that takes away from the deity of Jesus !

Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
"There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

Hello, question.. why have you included the NWT with other legitimate bible translations? Or why have you not atleast included a warning to readers? Don't you fear that someone could be influenced by the Watchtower's intentional heresies? Thank you.

Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
