Chapter 36 of Ezekiel—New World Translation (NWT)

  1. ¶ “And as for you, O son of man, prophesy concerning the mountains of Israel, and you must say, ‘O mountains of Israel,1 hear the word of Jehovah.
  2. This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “For the reason that the enemy has said against YOU,2 ‘Aha! Even the high places of old time3—as a possession it has become ours!’”’4
  3. ¶ “Therefore prophesy, and you must say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “For the reason, even for the reason that there has been a lying desolate5 and a snapping at YOU from all sides,6 in order for YOU to become a possession to the remaining ones of the nations7 and YOU continue being talked about with the tongue8 and there is a bad report among people,9
  4. therefore, O mountains of Israel,10 hear the word of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah! This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said to the mountains and to the hills, to the streambeds and to the valleys and to the devastated places that were laid desolate11 and to the abandoned cities that have come to be for plunder and for ridicule to the remaining ones of the nations that are round about;12
  5. therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘Certainly in the fire of my zeal I will speak13 against the remaining ones of the nations and against Eʹdom, all of it,14 those who have given my land to themselves as a possession with the rejoicing of all the heart,15 with scorn in [the] soul,16 for the sake of its pasture ground [and] for the plunder.’”’17
  6. ¶ “Therefore prophesy concerning the soil of Israel, and you must say to the mountains and to the hills, to the streambeds and to the valleys, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Look! I myself in my zeal and in my rage must speak, for the reason that humiliation by nations is what YOU have borne.”’18
  7. ¶ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘I myself have raised my hand [in an oath]19 that the nations that YOU have round about—they themselves will bear their own humiliation.20
  8. And YOU yourselves, O mountains of Israel, will give forth YOUR very own boughs and bear YOUR own fruitage for my people Israel,21 for they have drawn near to the point of coming in.22
  9. For here I am in favor of YOU, and I shall certainly turn toward YOU,23 and YOU will actually be cultivated and sown with seed.24
  10. And I will multiply upon YOU humankind,[a] the whole house of Israel, all of it,25 and the cities must become inhabited,26 and the devastated places themselves will be rebuilt.27
  11. Yes, I will multiply upon YOU humankind and animalkind,28 and they will certainly multiply and become fruitful, and I shall actually cause YOU to be inhabited as in YOUR former condition29 and I will do more good than in YOUR initial state;30 and YOU will have to know that I am Jehovah.31
  12. And upon YOU I will cause humankind to walk, even my people Israel, and they must take possession of YOU,[b]32 and YOU must become a hereditary possession to them,33 and YOU will not bereave34 them again of any more children.’”
  13. ¶ “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘For the reason that there are those saying to YOU: “A devourer of humankind is what you yourself are, and [a land][c] bereaving your nations of children is what you have become,”’35
  14. ‘therefore humankind you will no more devour,36 and your nations you will no more bereave of children,’[d]37 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.
  15. ‘And I shall cause no further humiliating talk by the nations to be heard concerning you,38 and reproach by peoples you will bear no more,39 and your nations you will no more cause to stumble,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.”
  16. ¶ And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying:
  17. “Son of man, the house of Israel [were] dwelling upon their soil, and they kept making it unclean with their way and with their dealings.40 Like the uncleanness of menstruation their way has become before me.41
  18. And I proceeded to pour out my rage upon them on account of the blood that they had poured out upon the land,42 which [land] they had made unclean with their dungy idols.43
  19. And I proceeded to scatter them among the nations, so that they were dispersed among the lands.44 According to their way and according to their dealings I judged them.45
  20. So they[e] came in to the nations where they came in, and people[f] proceeded to profane my holy name46 in saying with reference to them, ‘These are the people of Jehovah, and from his land they have gone out.’47
  21. And I shall have compassion on my holy name, which the house of Israel have profaned among the nations where they have come in.”48
  22. ¶ “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Not for YOUR sakes am I doing [it], O house of Israel, but for my holy name, which YOU have profaned among the nations where YOU have come in.”’49
  23. ‘And I shall certainly sanctify[g] my great name,50 which was being profaned among the nations, which YOU profaned in the midst of them; and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah,’51 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘when I am sanctified among YOU before their eyes.52
  24. And I will take YOU out of the nations and collect YOU together out of all the lands and bring YOU in upon YOUR soil.53
  25. And I will sprinkle upon YOU clean water, and YOU will become clean;54 from all YOUR impurities55 and from all YOUR dungy idols I shall cleanse YOU.56
  26. And I will give YOU a new heart,57 and a new spirit I shall put inside YOU,58 and I will take away the heart of stone from YOUR flesh and give YOU a heart of flesh.59
  27. And my spirit I shall put inside YOU,60 and I will act so that in my regulations YOU will walk,61 and my judicial decisions YOU will keep and actually carry out.62
  28. And YOU will certainly dwell in the land that I gave to YOUR forefathers,63 and YOU must become my people and I myself shall become YOUR God.’[h]64
  29. ¶ “‘And I will save YOU from all YOUR impurities65 and call to the grain and make it abound, and I shall put upon YOU no famine.66
  30. And I shall certainly make the fruitage of the tree abound, and the produce of the field, in order that YOU may no more receive among the nations the reproach of famine.67
  31. And YOU will be bound to remember YOUR bad ways and YOUR dealings that were not good,68 and YOU will be bound to feel a loathing at YOUR own person on account of YOUR errors and on account of YOUR detestable things.69
  32. Not for YOUR sakes am I doing [this],’70 is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘let it be known to YOU. Be ashamed and feel humiliation because of YOUR ways, O house of Israel.’71
  33. ¶ “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘In the day of my cleansing YOU from all YOUR errors I will also cause the cities to be inhabited,72 and the devastated places must be rebuilt.73
  34. And the desolated land itself will be cultivated, whereas it had become a desolate waste before the eyes of every passerby.74
  35. And people will certainly say: “That land yonder which was laid desolate has become like the garden[i] of Eʹden,75 and the cities that were a waste and that were laid desolate and that were torn down are fortified; they have become inhabited.”76
  36. And the nations that will be left remaining round about YOU will have to know that I myself, Jehovah, have built the things torn down,77 I have planted what has been laid desolate. I myself, Jehovah, have spoken and I have done [it].’78
  37. ¶ “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘This is what I shall yet let myself be searched for by the house of Israel to do for them:79 I shall multiply them like a flock with men.[j]80
  38. Like a flock of holy persons, like the flock of Jerusalem in her festal seasons,81 thus the cities that had been a waste will become full of a flock of men;82 and people will have to know that I am Jehovah.’”

    The NWT adds words to the text that are not in the greek Manuscripts to fit it's own doctrinal position for example

    Compare the wording of the NWT and the NKJV at Colossians 1:15-17

    NKJV says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    NWT says

    15 He is the image of the invisible God,the firstborn OF all creation;16 because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all OTHER things,and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist,

    The word “other” is not in the Greek but they add it Why? So they can decieve their followers into thinking that Christ was created by the Father and that he then created other things, that is not what the Greek says.

      Why didn’t you use the original kjv of col1:15?

      Is it because it disproves your point? It proves the opposite of what you wrote?

    Joshua, Jehovah’s Witnesses have never denied the deity of the Messiah in his prehuman existence. While on Earth he was fully 100% human. I do not mean he was a mere human, he was not affected by Adam’s unfaithful behavior, he was sinless.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this service. I like seeing the NASB on your web page in the same format as I read on paper. On other sites, the text area is smaller, and so I have to keep scrolling down to read and sometimes I lose the context. So I really appreciate the format.

    As far as the NWT, you are certainly free to do whatever you think best with your own web pages. I'd suggest that you make a note anytime you have a translation that is associated with only one denomination or church, for example:
    New World Translation (Jehovah's Witness version).

    In Jesus' parable of the wheat and the tares. the main idea seems to be that you can't easily distinguish between God's people and not-God's people on this earth, so our Lord's response is to wait until they are shown to be the kind of people they are inside. But the NWT seems like false teaching to me. So I think the warning passages from Jesus' apostles are more applicable, as in 2 Peter 3:15-16, when he talks about Paul's writings:
    "There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."
    And we also have the positive exhortations, as in 2 Timothy 2:15:
    "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

      Your suggestion regarding the denominational flagging is duly noted. But I can’t help but wonder, wouldn’t a Catholic also want “Protestant versions” marked as well?

      As for the parable, I’m pretty sure the slaves were convinced in their own minds that they could tell the tares from the wheat. After all, aren’t they the ones who identified the problem in the first place? But the master obviously thought otherwise.

      Furthermore, even at the time when Jesus himself was walking the earth, not everybody who claimed fellowship actually followed him causing John to inquire at Mark 9:39, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him . . . for he who is not against us is for us.”

      Please site these intentional heresies. I am well versed in the watch tower outline and agree they are in many ways incorrect but i also bet i can point many out from EVERY established or main denomination. There is much to learn from them all as one who drinks milk?

      Judge not lest ye be judged, that is not to pass judgement on you either brother.

      I debate with scripture. I don't hold it to be true that Michael is Y'Shua HaMeshiach but I also firmly hold it to be true that our G-d and Heavenly Father are not the word encarnate and only begotten son.

      I love not seeing "lord" which i relate to baal. I feel the catholic church is a satanic establishment and I am aware a freemason started the hovies but there are evil in high places and our fight is also with principalities.

      What i'm saying is that in my darkest hours, those two were some of if not the only ones who would bring a Bible and eucharist and pray with me.

      We all fall short of the glory of G-d.

      Don't forget the NWT was recognized as the most accurate translation on Jeopardy.

      Lastly, this is different I noted than the NWT i have read and am very familiar with. Pull up the watchtower page and compare. I truly look forward to getting this one!
